Chapter 222: Chapter 222: Into the Unknown

On the quiet sea, a pirate ship desperately fled in a panic. Not far behind them, a sea filled with darkness surged ominously.

The strangest part was how this dark sea seemed alive, constantly moving forward as if trying to engulf the fleeing pirate ship entirely.

"It's over, we're doomed this time!"

"Stop whining and row faster! We're really dead if we get caught!"

"This is the Florian Triangle, and many ships go mysteriously missing here!"

"Then row as if your life depends on it!"

The entire pirate ship was in chaos. Watching the black mist draw closer and closer, a group of pirates could hardly contain their despair.

However, a black spot faintly appeared in the distance. Since both ships were moving toward each other, many pirates quickly noticed the approaching vessel.

"That flag… it looks like the Whitebeard Pirates!"

"That can't be right! Why would such a crew appear in the first half of the Grand Line?"

"Stop thinking about it! Just focus on escaping!"

"Wait… is that ship heading straight for the Florian Triangle?"

"No time to care! We've been caught up!"

The black mist finally enveloped the fleeing pirate ship. Everyone watched as the shadowy fog swallowed the nameless vessel whole, the pirates' terrified screams lingering in the air.

Charlotte Pudding edged closer to Shin, trembling. "Maybe… maybe we shouldn't go in there. It feels like something is off."

Shin rolled his eyes. "Of course, something is off. But the black mist itself isn't dangerous. Even if those pirates are swallowed, they'll survive."

The real threat in the Florian Triangle wasn't the mist—it was Gecko Moria and his zombies. The mist merely disoriented people, giving Gecko Moria an advantage. The pirates' exaggerated reaction made it seem like the mist was some sort of poisonous acid, which Shin found rather amusing.

"Let's go. Head straight in. I've been curious to test some of Moria's abilities anyway," Shin declared confidently, brushing off the visibly nervous Pudding.

Despite entering the Florian Triangle not far behind the nameless pirate crew, soon lost sight of them completely. The oppressive fog muffled not just vision but sound as well.

"Inside the Florian Triangle, how far can you see Violet?"

Violet frowned, forming a hand seal as veins bulged near her eyes—her Byakugan activating.

Though the Glare-Glare Fruit allowed her to see far distances, it couldn't penetrate dense obstacles like the fog. However, with the Byakugan, she could see through the mist to some extent.

"These black mists aren't ordinary," Violet reported. "Even with the Byakugan, my range is limited to a short distance."

"It doesn't matter," Shin replied. "Moria's ship is massive—practically an island. You should be able to spot it soon enough."

Violet nodded. "I think I've found it—a huge ship that looks more like an island. That must be Moria's base."

"If it's that large, how did Moria even manage to cross Reverse Mountain? Or get into the New World?" Charlotte Pudding mused. "Who could coat a ship that size?"

Shin shrugged. 'How should I know? Oda left it unexplained, or Moria had some way to make the ship fly.'

"Enough about that," Shin said, steering the conversation back on track.

"Violet, guide us there."

Under Violet's direction, the Azure Dragon sailed steadily toward Moria's enormous ship.

When they got close, the sheer size of the vessel amazed everyone.

"Wow, it really is like an island," Ulti remarked.

"Wait!" Pudding interjected suddenly. "Do you hear that? A violin? And over there—is that a ghost ship?"

In the distance, a smaller ship came into view. Onboard, a skeleton was calmly playing the violin.

"Wh-what is that?!" Pudding stammered, clutching Shin's arm tightly.

The sight shocked even the more battle-hardened crew members like Kyros, Ulti, and Page One. However, they reacted differently than Pudding.

Kyros was the first to move, launching a flying slash from his sword that narrowly missed the skeleton's head.

Before the skeleton could speak, Ulti leaped aboard the ghost ship, her semi-dinosaur transformation activating as she coated her head with Armament Haki.

"Head Bash Combo!"

With several loud crashes, she reduced the skeleton to a pile of broken bones.

"Ha! What's all the fuss about? That was way too easy!" Ulti said smugly.

"Ahhhhh!" came a disembodied cry from the pile of bones. "Wait! Please don't smash me any further! I'm already dead!"

"This guy's still alive?!" Ulti exclaimed in surprise, preparing to crush the skeleton completely.

"Hold it!" Shin intervened quickly, stopping her mid-kick. "He's not a monster—he's a Devil Fruit user!"

Ulti paused, lowering her foot. "What kind of fruit is this? A Mythical Zoan? Skeleton Form? That sounds awful!"

"No, no," the skeleton explained hastily. "I ate the Revive-Revive Fruit. After I died, I was able to come back to life. Unfortunately, by the time I found my body, it had already decayed into a skeleton."

"Wow… that sounds even worse," Pudding muttered.

Shin nodded sympathetically. Compared to his own Yamata-no-Orochi Fruit, the Revive-Revive Fruit was indeed lacking.
