Chapter 219: Chapter 219: Lost
The Five Elders convened, their expressions grave. One of them spoke, "Imu-sama, hasn't he been reduced to ashes by your power?"
"He's not dead..." Imu replied, frowning deeply. "I sensed his presence just now. Although it vanished suddenly, I am certain it was him. If he managed to resurrect and retreat, it must have been through the power of a devil fruit!"
"I cannot stray too far from my main body," Imu continued. "And my main body was injured in that battle. Recovery will take at least a few months."
"In that case, I leave this to you," Imu concluded, turning and disappearing into the depths of the ancient city of Pangaea.
The Five Elders exchanged uncertain looks.
"What? That guy is still alive?"
"With Imu-sama's power, it must be true if he sensed his presence. Her ability to sense within this range is unmatched."
"But... do we really have to bow our heads to that pirates?"
"This matter does not need public acknowledgment. Let rumors spread as they will. We can quietly inform the Marines."
"When the time comes, we will claim the pirate have been dealt with. Let the world draw its conclusions."
"Even if the Plunderer survived, he wouldn't dare return to Mary Geoise."
"Agreed, let's proceed with this plan."
Naval Headquarters, Marineford
Sengoku sat at his desk, studying the intelligence report with a stern expression. After a moment, Garp entered, nonchalantly picking his nose and munching on snacks. Tsuru followed with her usual calm demeanor.
"What's the emergency, Sengoku?" Garp asked, flicking the results of his nose-picking at Sengoku's pet goat.
Sengoku glared but restrained his temper, merely shoving the report toward him. "Take a look at this."
Garp scratched his head. "You know I can't fully read these reports. Why bother?"
Sengoku rolled his eyes, suppressing his irritation. Vice Admiral Tsuru picked up the document, her expression gradually turning serious as she read.
After placing it down, she addressed Sengoku. "Is this accurate? The Plunderer's combat power is so overwhelming that even a full marine deployment cannot handle it?"
Sengoku nodded, letting out a heavy sigh. "You may not know this, but when I first became an Admiral, I visited Mary Geoise. I sensed an overwhelming presence there—stronger than anything I'd encountered before!"
"As a user of the Great Buddha fruit, my perception and wisdom are not easily deceived," he added. "The being I sensed could have defeated all the Marine's top forces combined!"
Judging from the current intelligence, Sengoku continued, "Mary Geoise has suffered a significant blow, which proves the Plunderer's power."
Tsuru frowned. Given Sengoku's abilities, it was unlikely his perception was wrong. If anything, it understated the reality. The fact that the World Government ordered the Marines to avoid confrontation hinted at either a hidden agenda or that the pirate's strength far exceeded expectations.
"The World Government is ruthless," Tsuru mused. "Even with slim chances, they'd usually force the Marines into action regardless of casualties. For them to retreat entirely… this Plunderer must be far beyond their calculation."
As Sengoku and Tsuru deliberated, Garp glanced at the report. Though he often claimed illiteracy, years in the Marines meant he could read enough. He muttered to himself while reading, "Whitebeard Pirates… Plunderer… significant losses… maintain surveillance… no action without orders."
Finally, Garp said, "So, the World Government thinks we can't handle this kid, Shin?"
"That's the implication," Sengoku admitted, his frown deepening. "But what puzzles me most is how this Plunderer consumed so many devil fruits."
"The sea is full of wonders," Sengoku continued, "but his array of abilities defies logic. According to this report, he can heal, devour, control darkness, manipulate earth and water, summon energy armor, control gravity, transform into a dragon, and even create clones."
"There's no connection between these powers. It's clear he consumed multiple devil fruits," Sengoku said. "But how many more can he acquire?"
Garp raised a hand. "Sengoku, you seem to forget—three Admirals are waiting for Shin at the Sabaody Archipelago!"
Sengoku's face turned pale. "Quick! Recall them immediately!"
Somewhere on the Open Sea:
"Where the hell am I now?" Shin muttered, seated on a makeshift ice platform. He furrowed his brow as he surveyed the endless ocean around him.
During his battle with Imu, Shin had thrown a Flying Thunder God kunai as a desperate escape measure. With his fully powered state at the time, the kunai had been propelled an unimaginable distance. From Mary Geoise—perched at an altitude of seven or eight kilometers—to their battle's peak at a thousand meters above that, the trajectory of the kunai had been remarkable.
Thrown at several times the speed of sound, Shin had no idea how far it traveled—hundreds or perhaps thousands of kilometers. He found himself submerged in the sea when he used the Flying Thunder God jutsu to teleport to the kunai's location.
Thankfully, his abilities from both worlds ensured survival. Despite modifications allowing him to breathe underwater, being submerged wasn't ideal. Using his Rinnegan, Shin pushed the surrounding water away and flew to safety.
Now stranded in an unknown sea, with no land in sight, Shin created a frozen platform to rest and assess his situation.
