Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Kamui
"Mizukage-sama..." The Kiri ninjas looked at the Fourth Mizukage with conflicted expressions. After his destructive rampage, any prestige he once held within the village was utterly ruined.
Whether he was controlled or not, the devastation he had caused could not be undone. Moreover, as a Kage, being susceptible to manipulation showed he was unfit for his position. In short, the Fourth Mizukage's tenure was effectively over.
Just as the silence settled over them, a figure flashed behind Shin. "Wood Release – Cutting Jutsu!"
With a dull thud, Uchiha Obito realized, embarrassed, that his wooden spear hadn't even scratched Shin, let alone inflicted any damage.
This moment highlighted Obito's greatest weakness. Like his teacher Minato Namikaze, Obito was a space-time ninjutsu user with unparalleled mobility and evasion but lacked raw destructive power.
He could have compensated for this with space-warping jutsus or the formidable Susanoo if he possessed both Sharingan eyes. But as it stood, he could only rely on his incomplete mastery of wood release.
Shin casually countered with a swift punch. Obito hastily activated his intangibility through Kamui, narrowly avoiding the blow. The shockwave of the missed punch gouged a trench dozens of meters long into the ground, demolishing a nearby building.
"Did… did he just do that with taijutsu?" Terumi Mei muttered, swallowing hard. She glanced around to find that many other ninjas were doing the same, stunned by Shin's sheer strength.
Uchiha Obito, hidden behind his mask, was drenched in cold sweat. Shin's attack speed had been terrifying. One misstep, and he'd have been obliterated.
Still, he tried to project confidence. "I underestimated your defenses, I admit, but if you think you can harm me, you're mistaken!"
Shin chuckled, his eyes gleaming. "Obito… you seem to forget that I know your true identity. Naturally, I haven't overlooked your other eye."
"What...!?" Obito's shock was palpable. In his rush, he'd forgotten that his other Sharingan, the one given to Kakashi, was now in Shin's possession!
As Shin's eyes morphed, the Mangekyo Sharingan pattern appeared in his left eye—Obito's own Mangekyō Sharingan. With the help of the Munch-Munch Fruit, Shin had integrated it into his body almost instantaneously.
Obito felt a cold dread creeping up his spine. Before he could react, a spatial rift opened before Shin, and a piece of wood split from Shin's body, sucked into the swirling void.
Inside the Kamui dimension, the wooden clone morphed into Shin, poised to confront Obito on his own turf.
Obito's breath hitched. An enemy within his Kamui dimension was the worst-case scenario. In the Kamui dimension, he couldn't use Kamui to escape or evade. Here, he was vulnerable.
"Wood Release – Deep Forest Emergence!" Obito summoned trees in an attempt to overwhelm the clone, bolstering his resolve. 'It's just a wooden clone. I can handle it!'
"Almighty Push!"
A devastating force exploded from the clone, obliterating the summoned trees and sending Obito crashing against the rocky terrain. Though it was just a clone, the chakra reserves Shin channeled into it were immense, rivaling Nagato's, and the enhanced control of the Rinnegan made the Almighty Push all-encompassing within Kamui space.
"Damn it! Fighting him here is impossible," Obito muttered as he forced himself to his feet. If it weren't for his enhancements from Hashirama's cells, he wouldn't have been able to stand.
"Universal Pull!"
The clone's gravitational pull yanked Obito forward, and he could see wooden spikes—his own Cutting Jutsu—flying towards him. The pull was so intense that escape was impossible. He gritted his teeth. "I have no choice!"
In an instant, Obito phased out of the Kamui dimension and reappeared in the real world, surrounded by darkness.
"What… where am I?" he muttered, but before he could comprehend, a tremendous suction force took hold, draining his chakra at an alarming rate.
A dark mist filled the air as Shin sensed Obito's reappearance in reality. Within moments, Obito was pulled back into Shin's dark domain, his chakra siphoned to the point of near depletion.
A dark portal opened, and Obito's limp form tumbled back into the real world, utterly drained and vulnerable. He had no strength left for any ninjutsu.
Shin moved forward, reaching down to pull the mask from Obito's face. Without hesitation, he took hold of Obito's last Mangekyō Sharingan, removing it.
Finally, Shin allowed himself a smirk. "Fugaku's Mangekyo Sharingan was barely worth mentioning—one eye with Kagutsuchi, the other with Raijin, and neither matched the unique flames of Amaterasu or powerful lightning. They were just a little more flexible and stronger than standard Fire and Lightning Release."
"But these," he said, examining Obito's Sharingan, "are the most overpowered of all. The power of space manipulation is beyond anything else."
Using the dark mist, he stashed the Mangekyō Sharingan into his dark dimension. His Rinnegan morphed, now bearing another tomoe symbolizing Kamui's abilities.
Watching Shin's acquisition of the Sharingan, Sasori and Orochimaru's eyes gleamed with interest. Meanwhile, the surrounding Mist ninjas, though filled with hatred for Obito, didn't dare to move without Shin's command.
