At the foot of Lianyun Mountain, Aozora felt excruciating pain in his back. His entire body felt like it was coming apart. His chest ached so badly he could barely breathe.

Luckily, someone had flipped him over.

Without even checking who had helped him, Aozora gasped for air, finally feeling like he could live again.

Once his breathing steadied, he found himself lying in the arms of Jonin Kona Aizawa.

Though her face was smudged with dust and blood, it couldn't hide her delicate beauty.

Fearing she would catch him staring, Aozora quickly turned his head.

He was met with an overwhelming view of white.

"Hiss!"

He instinctively sucked in a sharp breath through his teeth—so big!

"What's wrong? Did I hit your wound?" Kona Aizawa asked with concern. "Don't worry, I'll treat you right away!"

With that, she wrapped her left arm around Aozora and summoned warm chakra in her right hand, gliding it gently across his back.

After a while, she had mostly stopped the bleeding.

Looking down, Kona noticed Aozora staring at her chest, his face flushed red.

"Tsk!" She spat and tossed Aozora onto the ground. "Pervert!"

"Hiss!"

This time it wasn't admiration—he really felt pain as his still-untreated back slammed into the ground.

"Trying to kill me!?"

Knowing full well Yugito's strength, Kona rolled her eyes but continued treating Aozora.

She pulled bandages from her torn ninja tool pouch, propped Aozora upright, and said, "I'm going to wrap your wounds. Don't go ogling around or your eyes might pop out."

With his life in someone else's hands, Aozora could only nod. "Understood."

As Kona Aizawa finished dressing Aozora's wounds, the people chasing Yugito returned.

Seeing this, Kakashi led his Anbu subordinates up the mountain in search of Team One's three members.

Shibi Aburame hurried over to Aozora and asked worriedly, "How are you?"

"Almost died!" Aozora replied. "But now I'm fine!"

When Yugito attacked, he truly thought his life was over.

Luckily for him, the enemy valued her own life—and gave him just enough time to survive.

The experience of watching death approach helplessly was one he never wanted to repeat.

While wrapping the wounds, Kona explained, "His insides were badly bruised, and a few bones had shifted slightly—but nothing serious. He should recover in a week or two."

One of Aozora's leg bones had been dislocated. He could limp along if necessary, but without enemies nearby, he didn't insist on moving.

"Teacher, can you collect my ninja tools for me?"

Shibi paused and asked, "The ones that injured Yugito?"

"Yes!" Aozora nodded. "Throwing knives specially made with Chakra-conductive Metal!"

Upon hearing this, both Shibi Aburame and Kona Aizawa nodded in understanding.

No wonder he managed to injure Yugito protected by Tailed Beast Chakra Cloak—that explained everything.

Still, forging throwing knives out of Chakra-conductive Metal—now *that's* what I call throwing money away!

As Shibi prepared to release his insects to search, Aozora pointed to a rocky area in the distance and said, "I remember them flying there."

After restoring his energy flow, he had developed a special connection with the [Zhanxian] Slayer of Immortals.

In fact, he could recall "Zhanxian" right now, but he preferred to keep some tricks up his sleeve and remained silent.

When Shibi Aburame handed him the "Zhanxian," Aozora couldn't help but stroke it slightly.

If not for Zhanxian's edge, he would have died this time.

Soon, Kakashi and others arrived with three members from Team One.

Though still pale from her earlier unconsciousness, Saya Kurama was now able to walk. Among the entire group, only Aozora had temporarily lost mobility.

Hyuga Rong had the best eyesight and immediately spotted Aozora lying in Kona Aizawa's arms.

He approached and asked, "Uchiha Aozora, what are you doing here?"

Seeing Hyuga Rong's expressionless face, Aozora—who had barely survived—felt even worse.

"What am I doing here?" Aozora shot back. "Because of your stupid signal flares! Next time you face enemies like this, maybe you should just give up and wait for death."

Luckily I ran into Teacher and Senior Kakashi; otherwise, I'd have taken a few more of you down with me."

Rong was left speechless by Aozora's rebuttal. Kona Aizawa apologized, saying, "Sorry, Aozora. I didn't recognize her at first since Yugito Nii concealed her strength."

Meanwhile, Saya Kurama rushed over and said, "It wasn't like we asked you to come. What good did your reinforcement do..."

"Saya!" Kona Aizawa sharply interrupted her. "Apologize to Aozora!"

Saya turned away defiantly.

Kakashi stood nearby, saying calmly, "You not only should apologize to him, but also thank him."

"He took out a Cloud ninja on his own and wounded Yugito Nii during our rescue! If it weren't for him today, we might all be dead."

"What?"*N

Everyone was shocked—not only Saya Kurama but everyone present, excluding the Anbu.

Shibi Aburame learned from Yugito that someone had gone after Aozora. He originally thought Aozora was safe because he happened to meet Kakashi and others, never imagining he could defeat a Cloud ninja alone.

The four members of Team One knew how strong those three Cloud ninjas were and found it even harder to believe Aozora could take one down singlehandedly.

Seeing everyone's expressions full of disbelief, Aozora simply stated, "That Cloud ninja was careless."

Although he wanted to downplay his accomplishment and avoid revealing his strength, events had already unfolded and Kakashi witnessed everything—it was impossible to deny.

Upon hearing this, Shibi Aburame and Kona Aizawa exchanged a glance, looking at Aozora with new respect.

Jonin were composed by nature. Despite their shock, they quickly regained control of their emotions.

However, the three Genin from Team One remained incredulous.

Saya Kurama kept forming hand seals frantically, shouting: "Release! Release! Release!"

Unfortunately, this reality was no genjutsu!

Ignoring the exaggerated reactions of the three from Team One, Kakashi glanced around at the raging ghostly blue flames and said, "Let's handle the battlefield before Lianyun Mountain turns into ruins."

The Two-Tails' Yū fire could burn endlessly without fuel. Without intervention, this entire forest would turn into ashes.

Looking at the spreading Yū fire, Aozora suddenly spoke, "I've got several fire-sealing scrolls on me. We can just seal these big flames directly into my scrolls."

"Retrieving three Fire-sealing Scrolls from Aozora's Ninja Tool Pouch, Kakashi asked with confusion, "Why are you carrying so many Fire-sealing Scrolls?"

"Uh—" Aozora hesitated briefly before replying, "I'm not very proficient in Fire Release techniques. I'm afraid I might accidentally start a fire and get trapped inside."

Thinking back to the battlefield where Aozora fought Ishida, Kakashi nodded in understanding.

With the Fire-sealing Scrolls, the group put out the fires on the battlefield much faster.

After sealing the three largest patches of Yū fire, they buried or drowned the smaller flames with earth and water. Without the Two-Tails' chakra fueling them, the remaining flames would eventually burn out on their own.

Storing the three scrolls containing sealed Yū fire into his Ninja Tool Pouch, Aozora lay on a makeshift stretcher with his eyes closed, while Willow Seiichiro and Saya Kurama carried him toward Lianyun City.

He wasn't resting — he was thinking about what came next.

This rescue mission came too suddenly, forcing him to show too much of his real power.

He believed that soon all information about him would reach the desk of Konoha's leadership, after which it would be hard for him to remain safely in the shadows, gradually building up his strength.
