Naruto: Forbidden Arts and an Immortal Agenda

Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Emergency Rescue

The deep blue sky was completely clear, making three trails of red smoke especially noticeable.

Aozora instantly analyzed, "Emergency rescue! Danger Level: A-level!"

In Konoha, red smoke was used as an emergency rescue signal, with the number of smoke trails indicating the level of danger.

Three trails of red smoke represented an A-level danger—the highest emergency signal. This meant a Konoha team had encountered at least one enemy Jonin.

Shibi Aburame nodded slightly. His sunglasses swept over the three Genin before he made his decision. "Aozora will come with me to provide aid. Aya and Jifeng continue escorting the caravan toward Lianyun City. Wait for our message once your mission is complete."

Before Jifeng and Aya could object, he continued, "If you don't receive word from us within two days, make your way back to Konoha on your own."

His voice carried no emotional inflection as always—firm and non-negotiable.

Upon hearing this, Team Three's faces grew solemn. In unison they responded, "Understood!"

Immediately afterward, the formation changed. Aozora rose up and followed Shibi Aburame speeding toward the source of the distress signal.

Shibi leaped continuously through the forest, each seemingly effortless jump carrying him past five or six trees.

Aozora kept pace effortlessly right behind him.

"This sort of rescue mission usually wouldn't involve Genin, but the situation is urgent, and we don't know the enemy's strength. Every additional fighter gives another chance at survival.

Your kunai throws can threaten a Jonin, and your mastery of Fire Release is also commendable—you'll play an important role in battle. That's why I've summoned you along."

Without slowing his pace, Shibi spoke in his usual detached tone.

Aozora replied, "Understood. Aid comes from all directions when one is in need."

Upon hearing this, Shibi showed slight emotion before replying, "Naturally, I'm not taking you there to die. Act according to circumstances when we arrive. If the enemy proves weak, support us remotely using throwing weapons and Fire Release techniques. If they prove strong, we retreat immediately."

"Yes!"

As they ran, Aozora kept polishing his throwing knives. He understood that against a Jonin, even his kunai might pose some threat—but only marginally.

To truly wound a Jonin, only the [Flying Dagger Capable of Slaying Immortals] would suffice.

...

Midway up Lianyun Mountain, the surrounding area already lay in ruins—blackened patches scarred green grasslands, broken trees littered the ground, and scattered rocks covered the battlefield.

Within the shade of the forest stood a makeshift bandit camp. The simple structures had been enveloped in thick mist, dense water vapor forming a curtain-like barrier blocking everyone's vision.

Perched high atop a large tree facing the bandit camp, three Cloud ninjas looked down upon the fog-enshrouded site.

One shirtless giant among them, Daisuke, wiped his massive sword clean, commenting, "This has been quite a pain. Even under these conditions, she still managed to create such dense mist. Anyone who didn't know better would think she was a Mist Jonin."

Beside him, a bespectacled male ninja named Kaito countered, "Black Lightning, have you forgotten about Konoha's Second Hokage? Konoha possesses powerful Water Release heritage—strong Water Release users shouldn't be surprising. However, this thick mist blocks my sensing ability. It seems like resolving this won't be quick."

Standing before the two was a striking female ninja named Yumi.

She crossed her arms, her long chestnut braid swaying in the wind. "No rush. This bandit camp has its back to the cliff. As long as we block the exit, they can't escape."

A sword-wielding Cloud ninja hesitated. "But they already sent a distress flare just now. If we wait too long, Konoha's elites might show up."

The bespectacled Cloud ninja chuckled. "Konoha suffered Orochimaru's defection and the Nine-Tails' Invasion. Right now, only Jiraiya and The Third remain among our top-tier warriors."

"And Jiraiya's guarding the border while The Third stays in Konoha. Who in Fire Country could possibly stop us?"

The leading kunoichi said, "Ishida speaks truth. I, Yugito Nii, personally came all this way. Capturing just one jonin won't satisfy me."

Thinking about Yugito Nii's strength, the swordsman ninja shut his mouth.

Within the mist, the four members of Team One had accepted the bandit-eradication mission.

Right now, they had completely lost the exuberance they showed when exiting the Mission Hall.

Kona Aizawa's face turned pale. First she fought three Cloud ninjas, then maintained such a wide-range water mist. Her chakra reserves were nearly depleted.

Kona Aizawa asked, "Rong, what movements have you detected from those three Cloud ninjas?"

Upon hearing this, Rong Hyuga activated [his Byakugan] instantly. A large amount of chakra surged into his eyes, causing the veins near his temples to bulge grotesquely.

Under the Byakugan's vision, the thick mist appeared as transparent as glass.

He easily spotted the three Cloud ninjas guarding the only trail leading down from the bandit camp.

All three Cloud ninjas possessed considerable chakra reserves, especially the leader whose chakra far exceeded anyone he'd encountered before.

Confronted with that overwhelming and sinister chakra, Rong Hyuga held back his fear and reported steadily, "They've stopped attacking — they're just guarding the only trail down the mountain!"

Saya Kurama and Willow Seiichiro relaxed slightly, but Kona Aizawa's expression didn't improve — she had an ominous suspicion.

Still preoccupied with the leader's massive chakra, Rong Hyuga asked, "Teacher Kona, who is that lead Cloud ninja? Why does he possess such massive and evil chakra?"

Kona Aizawa glanced at him, responding grimly, "What did you say? How much chakra did you detect from that person?"

Rong Hyuga answered, "Extremely abundant — more than ten times yours."

Hearing this, Kona Aizawa's expression darkened. She muttered to herself, "Jinchuriki? Are they using us as bait?"

When his teacher murmured this, Rong Hyuga asked, "What's a jinchuriki?"

Without thinking, Kona Aizawa explained, "Jinchuriki are living containers for tailed beasts — their power rivals that of a Kage-level ninja."

"What!?"

Though Rong Hyuga and the others didn't fully grasp what a jinchuriki was, comparing its strength to a Kage-level ninja left them feeling completely overwhelmed.

Rong Hyuga asked, "If their opponent equals a Kage-level ninja, then who could rescue us?"

No one could answer. They all knew that the village's powerful ninjas had either gone to the front lines or stayed in Konoha. Only a few jonin operated within Fire Country, and the chance of encountering a ninja nearby capable of resisting Yugito was less than one in ten thousand.

For a moment, everyone's mood plummeted to rock bottom, even experiencing feelings of despair.

Kona Aizawa realized she had said the wrong thing and forced a smile. "Maybe Tsunade-sama just happened to be passing through."

When the three members of Team One heard this, they felt no hope at all—in fact, they felt even more desperate.

...

After running toward the distress signal for about twenty minutes, Aozora and Shibi Aburame finally arrived at the foot of Lianyun Mountain.

As an Omnipotent ninja, tracking was effortless for Shibi Aburame. He easily identified traces left by the battle and found crucial clues.

Following the battle marks partway up the mountain path, Shibi suddenly stopped in his tracks.

"Aozora, fall back! This fight is beyond your level now!"

As he spoke, he spread his arms wide. From the jar on his back and from both sleeves flew swarms of bugs. They started as tiny black specks but within seconds grew into a massive bug cloud darkening the sky.

Aozora didn't hesitate—immediately sprinting backward. He'd seen way too many idiotic plots where clueless weaklings overstepped and got everyone killed.

Shibi Aburame had loads of experience—his judgment was spot-on.

While retreating, he couldn't help glancing back. Right before his eyes, a striking figure suddenly appeared upon a large tree in front of Shibi.
