After traveling tirelessly through wind and rain, Aozora and his team reached the outskirts of Dahe City.

Night had already fallen. After two full days of non-stop travel, all four felt exhausted.

Aozora said, "Let's rest up first. We'll start hunting for Tanaka Shoko tomorrow."

Kagenbi pointed in a direction. "There's an intelligence outpost set up by the village over there. We can rest there and update our intel."

Hearing this, Aozora hesitated briefly before replying, "Lead the way!"

Following Kagenbi's lead, they soon arrived at a small, unremarkable pharmacy tucked away in a quiet corner of the city.

After using the correct code, the head of the intelligence outpost greeted them warmly: "Esteemed officers, it's an honor. I'm Chunin Sogami Daisora, the leader of this outpost here in Dahe City. Please tell me how I may assist you."

Faced with his overly respectful attitude, Aozora remained cold-faced as he ordered, "Bring me all available intelligence on Tanaka Shoko. And prepare four high-quality rooms for us."

The intelligence officer nodded repeatedly. "Right away, sir."

With that, he gestured to one of his ninja to go prepare the rooms while he himself entered a hidden chamber behind him.

Soon after, he returned and handed Aozora a scroll.

"Tanaka Shoko was assigned to guard Dahe City. This is the record of his mission details."

Aozora took the scroll and scanned through it while asking, "Has he shown any unusual behavior lately?"

Sogami Daisora answered, "No unusual activity reported."

Aozora asked further, "Have any officers from the Police Force visited Dahe City before?"

"Not often," Sogami replied. "Dahe City isn't considered important, so few travelers pass through, let alone officers from the Police Force."

Aozora asked a few more questions, but Sogami's answers were always clear and complete.

Aozora put the mission record away and said, "Good work. Have someone take us to their rooms now."

Smiling politely, Sogami responded, "Of course. Kento, please escort these officers to their rooms."

Guided by the ninja named Kento, the four made their way to the back courtyard of the pharmacy.

Inside, the room was clean and tidy, equipped with everything needed for washing up.

Aozora's expression remained cold, but his voice softened slightly as he said, "You may go. We have matters to discuss."

As soon as Kento exited, Aozora activated his [Sharingan].

Before Genya could speak, he was silenced by sharp glances from the other three members.

Aozora carefully scanned every corner of the room before deactivating the Sharingan. "[Nothing suspicious.]"

Genya removed his hand from his mouth and said, "You're being a bit too paranoid, aren't you?"

Aozora replied, "Just because the room is clean doesn't mean the people are honest."

Kagenbi nodded. "That Chunin was unusually polite."

Considering the Uchiha clan's reputation, most Chunin Kagenbi had met gave only cold treatment at best.

Genya added, "Maybe he genuinely respects the Uchiha clan."

Aozora didn't explain. He simply ordered, "Return to your rooms, extinguish the lights, pretend to sleep, and wait for my signal."

"Hai!"

The three left Aozora's room and entered the other three separate quarters.

Soon after, the lights in all four rooms were turned off, leaving the entire area in complete silence.

Seeing the lights go out, Kento hurried back to the front yard.

"Their lights are off. They've gone to sleep," Kento reported.

Hearing this, Sogami Daisora sneered disdainfully, "Hmph, these Uchiha fools—flatter them a little and they believe everything."

Kento replied, "It's mainly because of your excellent acting skills, my lord."

Sogami Daisora chuckled briefly before turning serious. "Go inform Tanaka Shoko. Let him and that person leave Dahe City quickly."

Kento looked puzzled. "Why should we let them escape? Why not just kill them here?"

"Fool!" Daisora snapped angrily before explaining, "This is already the third batch of investigators from the Police Force sent here. If more people die here, anyone would suspect something strange is going on. If the Uchiha cause trouble, not only you and me—but even Lord might be implicated."

Realizing how serious things were, Kento said, "I'll go immediately!"

Without further delay, he headed swiftly into the city.

After Kento left, Sogami Daisora stood silently, thinking whether there was anything else he had overlooked.

Suddenly, he noticed an extra shadow beside his own on the ground.

Before he could think or react, a sharp pain and dizzying sensation struck him simultaneously in the neck.

In an underground laboratory within Dahe City, hundreds of white tiles covered the floor, and bright lights illuminated the space.

Yet inside this seemingly pristine lab lay an atmosphere drenched in blood.

"Ahh—!"

A naked man lying on the experimentation table let out scream after scream.

His eyes showed no sign of hope for survival—only begging for death.

Unfortunately, even such a simple wish proved unattainable.

His body kept swelling, as though beneath his skin lurked a massive tumor, latching onto his insides and feeding off his body.

Beside him, a silver-haired man dressed in a beige robe kept applying Medical Ninjutsu to maintain his life.

He was neither able to live nor die.

No one knew how much time had passed; gradually he lost all sense of the world around him, unable to speak or see anymore…

The figure on the operating table became withered and dry, eventually sprouting a large tumor upon his corpse.

The silver-haired man picked up the tumor and examined it briefly before tossing it disgustedly into a deep pit behind the operation table.

"Another failure! Why is this happening?"

He didn't care at all about the sticky blood staining his hands; instead, he pondered endlessly over possible errors in the procedure.

After some time, his eyes suddenly lit up with inspiration, and a childishly innocent smile spread across his face.

He had another new idea.

Fueled by excitement, he hurried toward the materials storage room.

As he opened the heavy door, shelf after shelf stood empty except for a single black-haired ninja bound tightly in the corner.

His red eyes gleamed dangerously as he glared at the captive shinobi.

Staring continued for a long moment until finally, he stomped hard on the floor, then turned and walked away.

Bloodline holders were extremely rare, and Uchiha bearers of the Three Tomoe were especially valuable.

He had already lost one because of the agreement—he had no intention of letting this one go to waste.

Back above ground in his chamber, Hiruko Shimon immediately ordered Tanaka Shoko, who approached with a bow: "Hurry up and bring me subjects—no, three of them, at least Chunin level."

Tanaka Shoko, however, didn't move. "Lord Hiruko, I have urgent news to report!"

Shimon Hiruko let out a cold snort and said, "Talk!"

Tanaka Shoko replied that another Police Force squad had just arrived and was already resting at the Konoha outpost, and Sogami Daisora had ordered them to evacuate Dahe City immediately.

Upon hearing this, red light flickered in Shimon Hiruko's eyes as he asked, "Why should we retreat?"

Tanaka Shoko explained, "This is already the third batch sent by the Police Force. This time, the ninja are highly valued by the Uchiha clan head. If anything happens to them, the Uchiha won't let it go easily. 

If they start an investigation, the lab in Dahe City will certainly be destroyed. And during that time, Danzo might also get implicated..."

Before Tanaka Shoko could finish speaking, he suddenly found himself unable to move. The bandages beneath Shimon Hiruko's beige robe coiled around him like vines, wrapping him tightly.

Frowning slightly, Shimon Hiruko calmly asked, "So what?"

Feeling his chakra being drained, Tanaka Shoko struggled and shouted angrily, "Have you forgotten who helped you escape from Konoha? You're betraying Danzo now!"

Shimon Hiruko's expression remained calm without showing the slightest guilt.

"Helped me? I developed [Kinjutsu] for him. He took all the results while I became a rogue ninja."

"Betrayal? When did I ever pledge loyalty to him?"
