Naruto: Forbidden Arts and an Immortal Agenda

Chapter 104: Chapter 104: End of the Break

Night fell like a vast net of darkness, blanketing the world below.

The Uchiha compound glowed with bright lights, pushing back the shadows like a paradise on earth.

Yet, from above, the area surrounding the Uchiha compound lay swallowed in darkness.

Inside his study, Fugaku remained buried in paperwork as usual.

Unknown to how much time had passed, only one document remained on his desk. After finishing it, he carefully placed it on the stack to his right.

Exhausted, he leaned back in his chair, closed his eyes, and rubbed his temples.

He'd hoped relocating the clan would turn things around for the Uchiha—but instead, everything got worse.

Because of the Police Force's move, their coverage area shrank significantly. Most minor issues in Konoha's Northern District went unresolved, with villagers already complaining that the Police Force was taking salaries without doing their job.

Compared to these complaints, what troubled Fugaku more was the disappearance of several officers over the past month. Even two Uchiha with fully matured Three Tomoe Sharingan had vanished without a trace after being sent to capture criminals.

For a moment, Fugaku felt as if the entire world opposed the Uchiha.

"What will become of us at this rate…"

Filled with fatigue and frustration, Fugaku aimlessly wandered through his home.

Unconsciously, he arrived at the family training dojo, where he found Itachi practicing Taijutsu.

Seeing Itachi's slow movements, his brow instinctively furrowed.

But just as quickly, he relaxed.

From his years of experience, Fugaku instantly sensed that this technique was no ordinary one.

Its offensive power was nearly nonexistent, but it engaged every muscle in the body—clearly meant for physical refinement.

Curious about where Itachi had learned such a technique, he stood silently and waited for him to finish.

Soon enough, Itachi completed his practice.

Spotting his father, he hurried over happily.

"Father!"

Though still maintaining his stern expression, warmth flickered in Fugaku's eyes.

"Itachi, what were you practicing?"

"A technique my teacher taught me."

"Teacher?" Fugaku asked, puzzled.

"It's Big Brother Aozora!" Itachi explained.

"I haven't heard you call him 'teacher' before."

Fugaku made the comment casually, then continued, "What is this technique called? What does it do?"

"This isn't a Taijutsu," Itachi shook his head. "It's a secret jutsu invented by my teacher called [Foundation-Building Art]. He said it strengthens tendons and bones, enhances innate potential, and allows users to extract greater quantities of chakra after cultivation."

"Foundation-building… strengthening tendons and bones… enhancing innate talent…"

Fugaku repeated slowly, understanding the weight behind each word.

In the Ninja World, talent was everything—it often set your innate ceiling from the moment you were born.

If such a secret jutsu truly existed, its impact on the ninja world would be unimaginable.

Fugaku stopped himself from thinking further—for now, this jutsu belonged to the Uchiha.

His eyes burning with intensity, he eagerly asked Itachi, "How effective is it?"

Itachi considered carefully before replying, "My chakra was significantly drained after practicing, but my body feels very comfortable. I haven't noticed any visible effects yet."

Fugaku wasn't disappointed. Impressive as it was, improvement wouldn't come overnight.

Moreover, he extracted key information from Itachi's words.

Had his chakra dropped significantly because he used it to nourish his body?

Clan Leader Fugaku pondered thoughtfully.

He'd gone through Aozora's records numerous times.

He remembered that Aozora hadn't been able to extract any chakra during his five years at the Ninja Academy, and only managed to extract it this past February. Then, within just eight months, Aozora had reached the strength of a jonin.

Before, he used to think Aozora had simply hidden his true abilities at school.

But now, another possibility emerged.

The thought made him even more intrigued by the [Foundation-Building Art].

Fugaku spoke solemnly to Itachi, "[Aozora] may currently be only a chunin, but his strength absolutely rivals that of a jonin. For him to possess such power, besides natural talent, there must be an extremely efficient cultivation method—like this [Foundation-Building Art].

Study it diligently—don't slack off!"

Itachi nodded seriously upon hearing this.

"Then go train. Rest early after you finish cultivating!"

With that said, Fugaku turned and walked out of the dojo, not bothering to ask his son about the details of the Secret Jutsu.

It was unreasonable that the chief worked overtime day and night while his assistant took days off every day.

The next morning, Kyudai knocked on Aozora's door with a gloomy expression.

Seeing Kyudai's sullen face, Aozora smiled, "Good morning, Kyudai!"

Kyudai grunted slightly but also greeted Aozora.

Aozora invited Kyudai inside, but Kyudai waved him off, saying, "I'm here on the chief's orders to ask you a question."

"Please go ahead!"

Kyudai's face turned serious as he imitated Fugaku's authoritative manner: "Uchiha Aozora, may I ask whether you've finished your leave?"

Hearing this, Aozora leaned against the doorway in contemplation.

He had taken two full months of leave, and more than three weeks had already passed.

Although his original goal—to learn [Reverse Summoning]—hadn't been achieved, he did acquire two life-saving secret techniques, so his objectives were largely fulfilled.

Mastering dual-line operations involving [Earth Release] and [Izanagi] wouldn't happen in a short period anyway, so taking further leave no longer held much benefit.

Therefore, Aozora replied, "I've rested enough."

"Rest well? Then quickly report back to the Police Force!"

After saying this, Kyudai turned and left directly.

He couldn't understand why the clan leader still favored Aozora even after bringing him into the fold.

What couldn't he accomplish?

Though his strength was slightly lower than Aozora's, his intelligence slightly inferior, and his looks somewhat worse too—

—but he worked hard!

Realizing this, he vowed to work harder so Clan Leader Fugaku would come to depend solely on him—and soon forget all about Aozora.

Meanwhile, Aozora returned home, dressed in his armor, equipped himself with ninja tools, and then hurried toward the Police Force.

Pushing open the door to Chief's office, Aozora found not only Kyudai present, but also three other ninja from the Police Force.

Fugaku was talking with the four when he saw Aozora enter, and smiling said, "Aozora, you're just in time."

Upon hearing this, Aozora walked forward.

During his approach, he sized up the three unfamiliar Police Force ninja—three faces unknown, yet one person seemed very familiar.

Still holding a sword close to his chest, though you could still sense a lingering edge beneath his aura, Shuichi now carried himself with a much gentler aura compared to before.

Fugaku introduced to the group: "This is Aozora, proficient in [Fire Release] and [Ninja Tool Throwing]. You, Shuichi, should already be quite familiar with Aozora's skills."

Shuichi nodded and said, "Aozora's strength is far beyond mine."

Aozora humbly replied, "Not really—only a little."

The other two ninjas exchanged glances.

They knew the kind of guy Shuichi was—he never lied.

But to believe that this seemingly delicate child's strength had already surpassed Shuichi's? They still found it hard to accept.

Fugaku went on to introduce, "These two are Genya and Kagenbi. They specialize in Taijutsu and Genjutsu respectively... As for Shuichi, there's no need for an introduction."

After the four got briefly acquainted, Fugaku said, "You four are all elites of the Police Force! Now there's an important mission I must entrust to you."

Genya, Kagenbi, and Shuichi immediately accepted without even asking about the mission details. Aozora could only say as well, "Mission will be completed!"

"Good!" Fugaku praised, then said, "Before that, I hereby appoint..."

His gaze scanned the group before finally settling on Shuichi.

"Shuichi will be the team leader. Any objections?"

Genya and Kagenbi had none.

Suddenly, someone spoke up, "I have an objection!"
