Chapter 101: Chapter 23:The Secret Scrool!

Daichi swung his katana, releasing a chakra-infused slash toward Yuto. The blue arc of chakra wave cut through the air with immense force, but Yuto reacted instantly. He raised the rune circle in his hand, the glowing symbol humming with energy as it absorbed the impact. Sparks scattered in every direction as the two forces clashed.

Without hesitation, Yuto swung his solar lightsaber at Daichi, aiming to capitalize on the moment. However, the old samurai deflected it with ease, his katana meeting the glowing blade with a sharp clang. The force of the parry sent Yuto skidding back slightly.

Before Yuto could reposition himself, Daichi's form blurred. In an instant, he vanished, reappearing near Hitomi with kage level speed!

Yuto's eyes widened in shock. "Hitomi!" he shouted, sprinting forward while holding a market kunai. But just as he moved, he froze.

Daichi's katana was pressed against Hitomi's throat.

The battlefield fell into an eerie silence.

Naruko, who had been bombarding Cerberus with Sora's help, immediately signaled Sora to stop. Both she and her dragon backed away from Cerberus as the situation shifted.

Daichi's expression remained unreadable as he studied the trio. He then spoke, his voice calm but carrying a weight that pressed down on them.

"You two can still pass," he said, glancing at Yuto and Naruko. "There's less than a minute left in this exam. If you continue attacking, you'll make it through." His grip on his katana tightened slightly. "But if you attack now, I will kill your teammate."

Yuto and Naruko stood frozen, processing his words.

"You can pass the test even if your team is missing a member... or two," Daichi continued. "So, what will you choose?"

The answer was immediate.

Yuto exhaled as the rune circle in his hand faded into nothingness. His solar lightsaber disappeared, stored away in his inventory. Naruko silently jumped down from Sora's back, and with a single hand seal from Yuto, the white dragon vanished in a puff of smoke. Naruko's clones dispersed just as quickly.

"We surrender," Yuto said firmly.

Daichi's eyebrow arched slightly, but his face remained expressionless. "Why?" he asked. "Why would you throw away the opportunity to pass? The Chunin Exams are a rare chance for promotion."

Yuto met his gaze without hesitation. "Because we are students of Hatake Kakashi, one of the most famous shinobi in the world."

Daichi remained silent, listening.

Yuto continued, his voice steady. "People know Kakashi-sensei for his strength, his ability to complete the most dangerous missions, and his reputation as the Copy Ninja. But to us, he's more than that. He taught us something far more important than strength or victory."

Yuto's eyes burned with determination as he spoke the words that had been drilled into them since their first day under Kakashi.

"Those who break the rules are scum," Yuto recited. "But those who abandon their comrades are worse than scum." His gaze darkened. "Anyone who would disregard their teammates so easily... is worse than trash."

Naruko stepped forward, nodding in agreement. "We don't care about the Chunin Exams," she said bluntly. "If we fail, we'll just take it again next time. But we'll never sacrifice our teammate just to pass."

A silence followed.

Hitomi's breath hitched slightly, her eyes shimmering as emotion welled up inside her.

She clenched her fists. 'I won't let them fail because of me!'

A surge of chakra erupted from her eyes. Her Sharingan spun violently, evolving into a fully matured three-tomoe Sharingan. Lightning sparked around her hand as she reached up and grabbed Daichi's katana, holding it steady against her throat.

Daichi's eyes widened slightly as the electricity surged. Realizing the danger, he swiftly released his grip and jumped back just before the lightning could travel up the blade and shock him.

In that instant, a kunai embedded itself into the ground beside Hitomi.

Yuto switched places with it in the blink of an eye, grabbing Hitomi and switching back with the kunai before Daichi could react. The two reappeared beside Naruko, regrouping in a defensive stance.

Yuto exhaled, then gave Hitomi a small smirk. "Congratulations on your three-tomoe Sharingan," he said.

Hitomi blinked in surprise before touching her eyes. "I... I did it?"

Naruko, wasting no time, clapped her hands together. "Alright, what's the plan now?" she asked, creating twenty clones that instantly formed a defensive formation around them.

But before they could do anything, Daichi's voice cut through the air.

"You pass."

The entire team froze.

Daichi was suddenly standing right beside them while taking back his Katana from Hitomi. None of them had even noticed his movement.

Yuto clenched his jaw. 'His speed... his stealth... are insane.'

Naruko blinked, still processing his words. "...We passed?"

Daichi nodded, sheathing his katana. Behind him, Cerberus, who had been preparing to assist, let out a low growl before obediently sitting down. Naruko's clones disappeared in small puffs of smoke.

"You've cleared both trials," Daichi said.

The trio exchanged confused glances.

"Both?" Hitomi asked.

Daichi crossed his arms. "The first trial was simply completing the five levels of the Wolf Dungeon," he explained. "But the second trial... was hidden within it."

He continued, listing them off.

"The first level tested a ninja's ability to see through traps and navigate them together with their comrades while protecting each other."

"The second level tested a ninja's ability to infiltrate an unknown enemy stronghold, fight through hordes of enemies, and seek an escape route."

"The third level tested a ninja's skill in locating and extracting information from an escaping target."

"The fourth level tested a ninja's ability to retrieve hidden objects, as many missions require securing items from well-protected locations."

"And the fifth level..." He paused, studying them with a firm gaze. "The fifth level tested whether a ninja is willing to fight against an overwhelming opponent without abandoning their comrades."

His expression softened ever so slightly. "Many shinobi prioritize missions over their teammates. That is the way of the world. But I believe differently, even though I am a Samurai."

For the first time, Daichi seemed lost in thought. His gaze grew distant. 'Big Brother Hashirama... Big brother Madara...'

He shook the thought away and turned back to Team 7.

Without another word, he walked toward a section of the cavern and placed his palm against the wall. The rock shifted slightly before a square space appeared. Reaching inside, Daichi retrieved a scroll. As the wall sealed itself shut again, he turned to the trio.

"By completing all five levels, you have demonstrated all five fundamental qualities of a ninja." He handed the scroll to Yuto. The kanji on it read Secret Scroll.

Daichi's voice was final as he said, "If you deliver this scroll to the Chunin Exams center, you will officially pass the first stage."

The realization hit them all at once.

"...We did it," Naruko muttered.

A moment later, cheers erupted. The trio hugged each other, celebrating their victory.

Daichi watched them with a nostalgic smile, his mind drifting back to a time long past where he had met and befriended his idols.

'The Will of Fire burns in the new generation... brother Hashirama... brother Madara.'
