Chapter 139: Chapter 137: Significant Progress

Chapter 137: Significant Progress

"System, show my status!"

After the initial wave of excitement, Baishi summoned his system.

The moment he spoke, the familiar translucent panel appeared before him:

Looking at the bottom of the panel, Baishi's eyes immediately fell on [Dust Release].

This confirmed what he already knew: he had successfully gained control of the Dust Release technique.

Although its current rank was only I, raising it further wouldn't pose much of a challenge given his current chakra reserves.

The rank, like his Wood Release, represented potential—an upper limit. However, fully unleashing its potential would require considerable practice.

"Well, it seems I have plenty of work ahead of me," Baishi murmured.

He turned his attention to the Basic Attributes section next.

As he expected, the difficulty of increasing attributes had risen noticeably after breaking the 200-point threshold.

Over the past eight months, his Strength, Agility, and Constitution had increased by only 27 to 28 points each. Even his Intelligence, which had been rising rapidly, had only climbed by 31 points this time.

While the increases were modest, the impact on his capabilities was substantial, especially in the case of Constitution.

When his Constitution surpassed 100 points, his lifespan increased by 10 years. Now, upon surpassing 200 points, it had increased by another 20 years.

Additionally, with every subsequent 10-point increase beyond 200, his lifespan would now grow by four years instead of two.

Thanks to this improvement, his lifespan had reached 126 years.

Although this figure wasn't extraordinary, it gave Baishi hope for longevity. After all, born in a culture steeped in the dream of immortality, who wouldn't aspire to live forever?

Shaking off these thoughts, Baishi refocused on the Special Enhancements section.

Both Energy-Absorbing Skin and Mental Resistance had made substantial progress, with their progress bars more than halfway to completion. The long-awaited breakthroughs weren't far off.

Similarly, Enhanced Senses and Spatial Perception Enhancement had also made strides, the latter even advancing from IX to X.

The benefits of this upgrade were immediately apparent. While he still couldn't sense Flying Thunder God marks in alternate dimensions, the maximum range of the technique had increased from 500 kilometers to 1,000 kilometers.

"I'm confident now," Baishi thought. "If I encounter Black Zetsu again, I'll be able to retreat with ease."

This confidence stemmed not only from the extended range but also from the enhanced resistance of Flying Thunder God against disruptions. Combined with his bolstered Mental Resistance, Baishi was certain he could counter any interference from Black Zetsu.

Even so, Baishi had no plans to leave his island just yet.

The reasons were threefold. First, he had grown accustomed to his current environment and saw no need to relocate.

Second, the isolation of this remote island shielded him from the chaos of the outside world, making it the perfect place to train in peace.

Third, while his enhanced Mental Resistance and Spatial Perception allowed him to avoid Black Zetsu's attacks, defeating or neutralizing him entirely would require his Mental Resistance to transcend its current limits.

"I don't want to spend the rest of my life worrying about sneak attacks from Black Zetsu," Baishi muttered. "So, I'll stay here until I can crush him completely."

Motivating himself, he clenched his fists. "For a brighter future—let's do this!"

With newfound determination, Baishi closed the system panel and retrieved a scroll. Under the dim glow of an oil lamp, he began reading its contents.

Now that he had successfully fused Dust Release chakra, his next goal was to master the associated techniques.

To his delight, the Root operatives had exceeded expectations. Not only had they retrieved training guides for Dust Release, but they had also brought scrolls detailing techniques like Dust Release: Detachment of the Primitive World Technique and Dust Release: Boundary Breaking Technique.

These acquisitions would save him considerable time and effort.

The only downside was that the search for a flight-capable technique had once again come up empty.

Despite the cooperation of internal agents, the Rock Village had quickly detected the Root operatives' activities, leaving them with little time to explore secondary objectives like acquiring the Earth Release: Ultra-Lightweight Rock Technique.

Still, Baishi wasn't too bothered.

His growing mastery of Earth chakra had already given him insights into crafting a similar technique on his own.

However, he was now hesitant about whether to proceed down this path.

The Ultra-Lightweight Rock Technique wasn't a true flying technique; it merely altered the density of its target.

When the target's density dropped below that of air, it naturally gained the ability to float—or rather, drift—through the air.

The technique's limited speed didn't align with Baishi's vision of flight.

"I want more than just floating," Baishi mused. "I want to soar freely through the sky, as fast and agile as a bird."

The Ultra-Lightweight Rock Technique couldn't meet this standard.

Instead, Baishi decided to pivot toward Wind Release.

Wind, after all, was the most compatible element for flight.

Unfortunately, its offensive potential had been overdeveloped due to the demands of war, leaving its auxiliary capabilities like flight underexplored.

But Baishi had no interest in Wind's combat abilities, which left him free to develop it for flight.

Splitting his focus, Baishi read through the Dust Release: Detachment of the Primitive World Technique scroll while pondering ways to develop a Wind-based flying technique.

His heightened Intelligence, now over 200 points, allowed him to multitask effectively, significantly boosting his efficiency.

After a long period of contemplation, Baishi finally made up his mind.

"If I'm going to do this, I'll aim for the best," he resolved, abandoning the more straightforward Earth-based approach to focus entirely on Wind Release.
