Chapter 118: Chapter 116: Return to Moon Island
Chapter 116: Return to Moon Island
After leaving the town, it didn't take long for Baishi to return to Moon Island.
The moment he appeared, he sensed the presence of more than a dozen unfamiliar chakra signatures.
He didn't need to think twice—these were undoubtedly spies from other villages.
As for the captured ninja under his control...
With a thought, Baishi's consciousness entered his mental space.
Unlike the mental spaces of ordinary ninja, Baishi's was incredibly stable, a silver-white expanse overhead, framed by a pitch-black night sky.
At the center of the sky was a bright full moon, representing Baishi's unyielding will. Surrounding the moon were scattered stars, each representing a person under the influence of Baishi's mental seeds.
Within this space, Baishi could easily establish mental communication with the stars' corresponding individuals.
Unfortunately, aside from Kiumaru Ichiro and those sent away from the island earlier, the captives left on Moon Island had all perished. The stars that represented them had disappeared.
Sigh "Why didn't I tell them to escape?"
The truth was simple—Baishi hadn't cared enough about their lives to give it much thought.
No matter. There are more outside, he consoled himself.
Returning his consciousness to his body, Baishi locked onto a concealed underground chamber and activated the Flying Thunder God Technique.
The next moment, he vanished from sight.
Once safely hidden underground, Baishi began forming hand seals to prepare the S-rank spiritual ninjutsu known as Spirit Transformation Technique.
The spies left behind to monitor Moon Island were undoubtedly elite. Confronting them head-on would risk exposing his presence. But against the Spirit Transformation Technique, even the strongest opponents were defenseless against his mental seeds.
For now, information about this technique was still a mystery to most of the ninja world. Apart from Orochimaru, few knew of its existence. This lack of awareness made it easy for Baishi to dominate the minds of all the spies without much resistance.
---
The Next Morning.
By sunrise, fifteen ninja from various villages stood atop the central peak of Moon Island, awaiting Baishi's instructions.
For them, Baishi wasted no time. He immediately applied a combination of seals: Curse of Subjugation, Tongue Cursing Seal, and Flying Thunder God Marking.
Once done, Baishi ordered, "Continue your missions as before."
"Yes, my lord!" the fifteen responded in unison.
Baishi waved them off, watching as they descended the mountain.
As their figures disappeared into the distance, Baishi mused to himself, I wonder how many will survive in the end?
Though these spies now served him, their behavior had inevitably become stiffer and more mechanical under his control.
While this change would go unnoticed by most, those familiar with the spies would quickly pick up on the differences. Once exposed, imprisonment, interrogation, and eventual death awaited them.
However, Baishi cared little for their fates. The sole purpose of controlling these spies was to make his life more convenient. Whether they lived or died depended on luck.
---
Clearing his thoughts, Baishi began to allocate his time and energy according to his latest plan.
With his chakra reserves no longer limited, he could focus entirely on training and progression.
1. Morning: Dedicated entirely to enhancing his strength, intelligence, constitution, and agility—the foundation of all his abilities.
2. Afternoon: Three hours devoted to upgrading Absorption Skin, Heat Resistance, Regeneration, and Skin Fortification. He would perform this training in the magma caves.
3. Evening: Focused on improving Spatial Perception, Sensory Enhancement, and Mental Resistance.
4. Night: Divided between developing new chakra natures and enhancing his affinity with existing natures.
For now, studying sealing and curse techniques would take a back seat. Those could be explored during lighter moments.
"Alright, this should do for now," Baishi concluded.
With that, he locked onto a specific marker and activated the Flying Thunder God Technique.
---
Somewhere on Moon Island.
Baishi appeared silently in a familiar section of the forest.
"Nothing beats the comfort of this place," he muttered with a satisfied smile.
Summoning his system interface, he set his desired progression goals before beginning his training. As he guided his source of evolution to nourish his body, Baishi also rigorously exercised, pushing himself to his limits.
Hours passed as Baishi's clothes alternated between soaking wet with sweat and drying out repeatedly. His body remained in a state of extreme fatigue, but he persisted.
Such conditions, though grueling, offered the highest efficiency for evolution.
In many ways, it mirrored the philosophy behind Might Guy's intense training methods. Each breakthrough in physical limits brought greater strength.
The difference was that Baishi's system ensured exponentially better results.
Before he realized it, the morning had passed.
Taking out three soldier pills, Baishi consumed them to replenish his nutrients. These pills had been looted from captured ninja and would last him a while.
As for their original owners...
Baishi smirked. They're ninja. They'll manage to survive somehow.
After resting briefly, he discarded his sweat-drenched clothes and locked onto the marker inside the magma caves. Once again, he vanished.
Reappearing beside a river of molten rock, the intense heat assaulted him immediately.
"This heat feels good," Baishi murmured, settling into a cross-legged position.
Opening his system interface, he configured his evolution pathways and began the process.
Because he was enhancing multiple abilities simultaneously—Absorption Skin, Heat Resistance, Regeneration, and Skin Fortification—Baishi avoided manual guidance to prevent inefficiencies.
That didn't mean he was idle, however.
First, he had to endure the pain that came with the evolution process.
Second, while the system handled the evolution, it operated rigidly. Baishi needed to remain vigilant and adjust its direction when necessary.
Finally—and most importantly—he had to keep the Nine-Tails under control.
With Baishi continuously draining its chakra, the beast thrashed and roared within the sealing space, straining against its golden chains.
Though the enhanced seal prevented its escape, the Nine-Tails' struggles disrupted Baishi's evolution process—a complication he refused to tolerate.
So, he spent much of his time suppressing the Nine-Tails' outbursts.
Hours passed.
As Baishi paused his training, the Nine-Tails finally quieted down, though he knew it was only a temporary reprieve. As long as he continued draining its chakra, the beast would never stop resisting.
As for taming the Nine-Tails?
Baishi laughed inwardly at the thought. No amount of torment would bring the fox to heel. If anything, prolonged captivity would only deepen its hatred for humanity.
But that didn't concern him.
He didn't need the Nine-Tails to cooperate—he just needed its chakra.
And for that, Baishi would gladly endure its eternal fury.
