Chapter 99: Chapter : 101
Seven days later, at the border of the Land of Fire. The landscape was rocky, desolate, and eerily silent.
On the top of a cliff overlooking a deep valley stood Orochimaru, Kirito, Pakura, and Kabuto Yakushi. Below them, the valley stretched like a natural arena, the same location where Orochimaru assassinated Rasa in the original story.
Orochimaru smirked and gestured toward the valley. "Rasa, as you know, is a master of Magnet Release, using Gold Dust as his primary weapon. This valley, however, has been carefully chosen by me. The gold content here is negligible, and extracting Gold Dust will be a challenge for him. My plan was to team up with Kabuto and Kimimaro to finish him off. But with you here, Kirito-kun, that won't be necessary."
Kirito nodded as understanding dawned. It all made sense now—the reason why Rasa, the Fourth Kazekage, was taken out so easily in the original story. Orochimaru had meticulously stacked the odds against him.
Down in the valley, Rasa approached, wearing the Kazekage's robes and hat. Two loyal Anbu flanked him. His steps were steady, unaware of the trap waiting to spring.
Orochimaru's smile widened as he turned to Kirito. "They've arrived. So, Kirito-kun, how do you plan to handle this?"
Kirito's response was calm and decisive. "There's no need for theatrics. Rasa is all yours, Pakura."
Raising his right hand, flames danced from Kirito's fingertips. With a sharp press of his hand to the ground, a massive barrier of fire erupted around the valley, encasing Rasa and his guards. The fiery walls reached skyward, forming an impenetrable dome.
"This... this is!" Rasa exclaimed, startled by the sudden inferno that surrounded them. His Anbu companions drew their swords, taking defensive stances beside him.
"This is the *Uchiha Flame Formation*," Kirito said evenly. "A technique I salvaged during the Uchiha clan's demise."
His words carried through the barrier. Moments later, an opening appeared, and Kirito, Pakura, Orochimaru, and Kabuto Yakushi entered the barrier with deliberate steps.
Rasa's eyes narrowed at the sight of Orochimaru. "Orochimaru, what is the meaning of this?" His tone was stern, tinged with anger.
Orochimaru feigned nonchalance, spreading his arms wide. "Oh, isn't it obvious? I don't intend to keep our agreement. Instead, I plan to kill you, take your place, and spark a conflict between Sunagakure and Konoha. It's the perfect prelude to the Konoha Collapse Plan."
Rasa clenched his fists, his heart burning with rage. Forming seals, he pressed his hands to the ground, summoning Gold Dust from the earth. The ground trembled, and streams of glittering gold emerged—but the amount was shockingly small, nowhere near the scale of his usual displays.
Orochimaru chuckled, his voice dripping with mockery. "Struggling already? You see, I specifically chose this location for its low gold content. Rasa, your demise is inevitable."
"You traitorous snake!" Rasa hissed, focusing his meager Gold Dust into a compact cube. He hurled it toward the barrier in a desperate bid to escape.
But the *Uchiha Flame Formation*, sturdy enough to repel the Eight-Tails in full force, held firm. The Gold Dust cube disintegrated upon contact, melting into molten droplets that sizzled on the ground.
"Save your energy," Kirito said coolly. "This barrier is unbreakable with the likes of your Gold Dust."
Rasa turned his eyes toward Kirito and Pakura, scrutinizing the red cloud-patterned robes and wind chime hats. "Who are you?"
Without hesitation, Kirito and Pakura removed their hats, revealing their faces and the scratched headbands marking their status as rogue ninjas.
"I am Fujiwara Kirito," Kirito said.
"And I," Pakura added, her voice dripping with venom, "am the one who's been dreaming of killing you—Pakura."
At the sound of her name, Rasa's composure cracked. Shock morphed into despair. He had expected Orochimaru's treachery, but the appearance of Pakura—whom he had betrayed and sold to Kirigakure—spelled certain doom.
"Pakura... You're alive?" Rasa's voice trembled. "If you're still alive, why not return to the village? You're a hero of Sunagakure!"
Pakura's lips curled into a bitter smile. "A hero, you say? Where was this sentiment when you sold me to the Mist? When you branded me as an S-rank criminal to silence the truth? And now, facing your end, you dare to call me a hero? Rasa, your hypocrisy is nauseating."
"No, you misunderstand! You don't understand the situation the village was in at the time. I did what I had to—for the village!" Rasa pleaded, his voice desperate.
"For the village?" Pakura's voice was low and icy. "The same excuse you use to justify every vile act? Enough talking."
Forming a series of hand seals, she unleashed *Wind Style: Suppression*. A high-pressure sphere of wind erupted before her, exploding into a powerful vortex that consumed Rasa and his guards. Trapped within the barrier, there was no escape.
Rasa quickly formed a sand wall to block the incoming storm, managing to shield himself. His Anbu guards, however, were less fortunate. The storm flung them against the barrier, where the intense heat incinerated them on contact.
"Ah, Wind Style: Suppression. Isn't that Kakuzu's technique?" Orochimaru observed with interest. "Kirito-kun, you've been sharing your knowledge again. How generous."
"It's just a B-rank Wind Jutsu," Kirito replied, shrugging. "Nothing special."
"Even so, please remind Pakura not to ruin Rasa's face. I'll need it intact for my disguise later," Orochimaru quipped.
As the wind subsided, Pakura ascended into the air, her hands forming seals once more. The air around her grew hotter, glowing with the intense heat of her *Scorch Release*. Floating spheres of fiery energy surrounded her, ready to unleash devastation.
