Naruto: Awakening the Mangekyo Sharingan, and Unify the Ninja World

Chapter 149: Chapter 149

As a close friend of Nagato, Yahiko had always shared a deep bond with him. They had trained together, fought together, and even slept in the same bed during harsh times in their youth.

Yahiko knew Nagato so well that he could predict even the smallest of his actions. The moment Nagato shifted slightly, Yahiko smirked, knowing exactly what was coming next.

"Man, you really need to fix your diet," Yahiko teased, waving his hand in front of his face.

Nagato rolled his eyes at the comment but couldn't help feeling a sense of warmth at Yahiko's easygoing nature. The war had changed so much, but Yahiko remained the same.

Upon entering the room and noticing Nagato's silence, Yahiko raised an eyebrow. "You sense something off?" he asked casually.

Nagato sighed, his crimson eyes narrowing. "I didn't feel anyone watching, but I have a bad feeling."

Yahiko crossed his arms, his expression unconcerned. "Well, considering we're about to take on the so-called new 'God of the Shinobi World,' Uchiha Shin, I'd say that's normal."

Nagato didn't respond immediately. His friend's words were meant to be comforting, but he couldn't shake the tension in his gut.

Seeing this, Yahiko patted him on the back, flashing a reassuring grin. "Come on, Nagato, you have the Rinnegan—the same eyes as the Sage of Six Paths. If anyone should be worried, it's Shin."

"Maybe…" Nagato murmured, still uncertain. But Yahiko's confidence had a way of seeping into him, making him believe just a little bit more in himself.

From a rooftop nearby, Uchiha Shin observed the two with a deadpan expression. He rubbed his eyes, as if trying to confirm what he was seeing.

"…The hell is this?" he muttered under his breath. "Since when did these two turn into some sappy couple the moment Konan's not around?"

He visibly shuddered. "This is just… wrong."

Shin had originally planned to swoop in and steal Nagato's Rinnegan, but now he hesitated. The strange atmosphere between the two made him feel slightly disgusted. Did he really want to get close to them now?

Taking a deep breath, he shook his head. "No time to be picky. That Rinnegan is mine."

His eyes flickered downward, shifting into a sharp gaze as he scanned the battlefield with his enhanced perception. Deep beneath the earth, another presence lurked—Black Zetsu.

"Tch. That damn parasite is here too," Shin muttered. "Madara's pet keeping an eye on things, huh?"

Black Zetsu had been trailing Nagato instead of Shin recently, likely under Madara's orders. That meant using Yahiko as a hostage was no longer a viable plan—too much could go wrong.

"Forget the dramatics. I'll just take what I want."

Raising his hand, Shin channeled chakra into his palm. A kunai marked with his personal teleportation seal materialized in his grip. Without hesitation, he flicked it toward Nagato's feet.

Shing! The kunai landed with a sharp clang.

Nagato's reaction was instant. His pupils contracted, and he immediately recognized the danger. "Enemy attack!"

Before he could react further, Shin's figure flickered into existence before him.

"Guess what? You're coming with me."

Flying Thunder God: Forced Teleportation!

In an instant, Shin and Nagato vanished in a blur of motion.

Yahiko, who had just been joking with Nagato a second ago, could only gape as his friend disappeared before his eyes.

"What the—? Nagato!?" he shouted, frantically searching around.

All that remained was the kunai Shin had thrown, embedded in the ground like a cruel reminder of what had just transpired.

Beneath the surface, Black Zetsu's expression shifted. "Damn it. Uchiha Shin took Nagato."

The presence of Shin had only lasted for a moment, but it was more than enough. Black Zetsu had seen and memorized everything.

Nagato possessed the Rinnegan—a crucial piece in Madara's plan to bring about the Infinite Tsukuyomi. If something happened to him, the entire operation could fall apart.

Cursing internally, Black Zetsu melded back into the ground, speeding off to inform Madara.

Valley of the End

In a remote, desolate canyon far away from prying eyes, Shin and Nagato reappeared in a flash of light.

Shin wasted no time. He lunged forward, fingers poised like a blade, aiming directly for Nagato's eyes.

"Shinra Tensei!"

A powerful repulsive force exploded outward, sending everything within its radius flying. The very air seemed to ripple under the immense force, and the waters of the valley churned violently.

But Shin didn't budge. Instead, he grinned.

Lightning Chakra Cloak: Activated.

Eight Gates: First Gate—Open!

A surge of fiery energy erupted from Shin's body, raw power radiating from him in waves. His muscles tensed as he counteracted the repulsive force, standing his ground against Nagato's almighty push.

Nagato's eyes widened in shock. He had never seen someone brute-force their way through Shinra Tensei like this before.

Shin smirked. "Nice trick. But not good enough."

In a split second, he burst forward, cutting through the remaining force like a blade through paper. His extended fingers, sharp as daggers, sliced through the last remnants of resistance.

Nagato barely had time to register what was happening before Shin's fingers pierced forward, centimeters away from his precious Rinnegan.

The realization hit him like a hammer. He wasn't facing an ordinary opponent.

He was facing a monster.
