Chapter 105: Exploration
Shiyu Uchiha had already arrived at the secluded mountain site deep in the wilderness shortly after Haru Hoshizora left the Land of Demons. The reason Shiyu came here was because, while flying through the sky, he sensed a strange pull from this location. The sensation was eerily similar to what he'd felt from Ten-Tails fragments before—but still somehow different, in a way he couldn't put into words.
At first, he thought it might be another fragment of the Ten-Tails or a similar item. Remembering how, despite the danger he faced last time, the rewards were even greater, he felt tempted. Without those gains, he would have needed at least two or three more years of hard training to reach his current level of strength.
Confident in his abilities now, Shiyu believed he could handle any dangers that might arise, just as he did before. He came here to uncover the source of the attraction and decide his next move based on what he found.
He spent several days exploring the vast area, hoping to locate that mysterious object. Unfortunately, although his senses led him precisely here, thorough searching revealed absolutely nothing. However, within the site, he discovered an old shrine. After clearing away the rubble, he recovered some useful artifacts.
Through repeated verification, Shiyu roughly determined these items to be about thirty years old. Yet due to being corrupted by negative chakra, they appeared far older—leading Shiyu to mistakenly believe at first that they were relics from the Warring States Era.
Although somewhat disappointed by this discovery, the strange pull hadn't weakened. So Shiyu didn't give up and continued his investigation.
What came next surprised him—he found a symbol of the Uzumaki clan. Although many questions immediately filled his mind about why the Uzumaki's family emblem would appear here, his interest soared, making him feel as though he stood on the verge of a major discovery.
Thus, over the following days, Shiyu began another, more meticulous search—but this time, he personally examined everything rather than relying solely on his sensor ability. Upon finding the Uzumaki crest, he guessed that whatever it was must have been sealed by the Uzumaki, likely protected by a barrier designed specifically against sensory detection. This was one of the clan's common techniques, which explained why he couldn't sense anything earlier.
As time passed, he finally located a cave hidden within a mountain valley, sealed with advanced sealing techniques. The sealing method used was extremely sophisticated, rendering Shiyu's sensory abilities useless. If it weren't for a lucky coincidence, he wouldn't have noticed it at all.
However, now that he'd found it, using his Sharingan alongside his partial understanding of Uzumaki sealing techniques allowed him to successfully break the seal after a full day of effort.
The reason it went so smoothly was mainly because, although regarded as an advanced Uzumaki sealing art, Shiyu had studied it before. Despite some modifications, its core structure remained unchanged.
This specific seal convinced Shiyu beyond a doubt that this place was indeed part of the Uzumaki clan's hidden heritage.
Shiyu Uchiha entered the cave and saw a pitch-black skeleton corroded by negative energy. Due to the corrosion, he couldn't determine the exact time of death. However, based on the remaining relics, he could still identify this as belonging to someone from the Uzumaki clan. Shiyu took out a scroll and sealed the body inside, intending to give them a proper burial later.
Then, Shiyu began his journey of exploration. Using light generated through his Fire-style chakra nature transformation, he walked along the cave for a while until suddenly the space opened into a large hall.
For safety, Shiyu continued exploring along the edges while sending out several Shadow Clones to take risks in his place. After exploring the area, he found no immediate threat, though he kept his guard up, prepared for anything that might go wrong.
After further inspection, Shiyu discovered that this place functioned like a sealing barrier combining the [Four Symbols Seal]—a technique based on Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise—with the [Four-Corner Sealing Barrier]—an ancient method designed to bind chakra from all four cardinal directions. However, instead of being maintained by four people, it appeared to use four special pillars instead.
Additionally, extending from these four pillars supporting the seal were four chains. While binding the sealed object, they continuously extracted its power to replenish consumed energy, continuing until the sealed entity completely perished, at which point the seal would dissolve naturally due to energy depletion.
Impressed despite himself, Shiyu couldn't help but admire the craftsmanship. He believed the sealing expertise displayed here ranked its creator among the greatest Kage-level masters—a technique so refined it was nearly unbreakable in theory.
Unfortunately, over time, even sealing techniques' curse marks deteriorate with age. Shiyu sensed that this particular technique was no longer perfect, and more importantly, he couldn't understand its core mechanics at all, let alone repair it.
Later, using his triple-comma Sharingan, Shiyu began studying the sealing technique here carefully, taking notes simultaneously. Apart from studying it later himself, he also intended to give them to Ling Uzumaki, hoping to help improve her skill in sealing arts.
What Shiyu didn't notice was that periodically, the sealed entity would surge violently for an instant. After each surge, the sealed mass would dim slightly, though so minutely that not only did the sealing technique itself fail to detect it, but Shiyu—who was blocked by the seal—certainly wouldn't have noticed either. Though Mangekyo might have offered insight, he hadn't even activated it yet—and even if he had, success wasn't certain.
After more than ten hours of observation and note-taking, Shiyu documented all but a few concealed spots. It was somewhat regrettable because those unseen parts likely contained the core mechanics of the seal.
Nonetheless, Shiyu understood compromise well. Just as he finished closing his notebook and putting it into his pocket, preparing to leave,
Suddenly, he felt something amiss. Without hesitation, Shiyu immediately activated his Mangekyo Sharingan.
At that very moment, the creature bound within the seal launched a violent assault, sending waves of chakra pulses erupting outward from the barrier. Yet despite this, the root of the seal remained intact. In absorbing the beast's chakra, the seal itself grew even more powerful—an eerie testament to its design.
However, the demon's assault on the seal was not in vain. Shiyu Uchiha felt a powerful suction within his Spiritual Sea—it was clearly trying to pull his spirit away and drag it back into the sealed space.
Yet after his spiritual power underwent a transcendent transformation, Shiyu's mental fortitude exceeded the demon's expectations. Fused with his Bloodline Power, his manifestation of the Sharingan had taken deep root inside him, making it impossible for the demon to gain control. Then, Shiyu further shifted his spiritual manifestation from the third tomoe into the Mangekyou. At this point, the demon no longer stood a chance of manipulating him—even counterattacks were becoming possible.
