Naruto: An Informant from the Uchiha

Chapter 72: Chapter 72: The Yamanaka Flower Shop

As soon as Uchiha Yun returned home, he saw Shisui sitting in the courtyard.

"No one was home, so I let myself in and waited in the yard," Shisui explained.

Yun walked forward, opened the door, and invited Shisui inside. He casually asked, "With how busy the clan leader is every day, what brings you here today to wait for me?"

The two sat down across from each other. Yun didn't bother with tea, just poured Shisui a glass of cold water.

Unable to hold back, Shisui got straight to the point: "When Orochimaru defected, you used Susanoo, didn't you?"

Yun nodded calmly. "That guy really lives up to his title as one of the Sannin. Even Susano'o's arrows might not have been enough to kill him. But you probably already guessed most of the reason why I did it."

Bang!

Shisui slammed the table, knocking over the cup and spilling water across the surface.

"I warned you! The Mangekyō Sharingan's power isn't to be used lightly! Do you know that I can barely see out of this eye anymore?"

Yun casually picked up the fallen cup, refilled it, and replied, "You know who's in Sixth Unit of the ANBU, right?"

"Phew…"

Shisui exhaled deeply and nodded. "The Sixth Unit under the Fourth Hokage's ANBU, originally led by Kakashi, who later left for the Jonin Corps. It's currently under Captain Jia."

Yun continued, "Elephant, Lantern, those two have ties to the clans within Konoha. Using Susanoo once wasn't a waste."

Shisui downed his drink in one go and said, "Regardless, I hope you'll use the Mangekyō's power sparingly. For a shinobi, the price of going blind is too high."

"Just like you said, politics isn't about using force to eliminate opponents. But without force, politics is just a joke, easily crushed."

"We need at least one pair of Mangekyō eyes left in the Uchiha Clan to serve as a deterrent."

Yun exhaled and replied, "Don't worry. I know what I'm doing. If I want to loaf around in peace for the rest of my life, I'm not about to blind myself."

Shisui gave him a serious look and stood up. "I've got Guard Division duties to attend to. You're the one I trust and rely on the most, Yun. Don't make me worry."

With those words, Shisui turned and left.

After a while…

Yun looked toward the door that had just closed.

In the yard, a small insect trembled, its paper-thin wings fluttering as it flew onto a tree trunk.

'Losing eyesight?'

'A Mangekyō Sharingan paired with Sage Body constitution… how could it possibly go blind?'

Yun stood up, returned to his bedroom, and pulled out a scroll, tucking it into a hidden compartment beneath the bed.

'The shedding Orochimaru left behind… hopefully it'll be useful.'

.....

The Next Morning.

"Brother, I'm heading out now!"

Yun heard Izumi's voice from the front door and responded as she ran off toward the Ninja Academy.

Having finished getting dressed, Yun turned to his mother and said, "I'm heading out too."

Uchiha Hazuki nodded and said, "If you're going to the memorial stone, don't forget to buy a bouquet of chrysanthemums from the flower shop."

Yun paused and turned to look at her. "How did you know?"

Sigh…

Hazuki sighed. "ANBU deaths being inscribed on the memorial stone aren't widely known, but since your mission just ended yesterday, I went there this morning and saw it… Was it your teammate?"

Yun nodded slightly. "It was a mission-related sacrifice. I can't say more than that, you understand."

As Yun opened the door to leave, his mother's voice came again: "Be careful, Yun. More than anything, I just want you and Izumi to grow up safe and healthy."

"Mm!" Yun nodded firmly and stepped out.

After graduating early, and being fast-tracked into the ANBU thanks to the Fourth Hokage, Yun's career had been blazing.

But clearly, his mother still worried about his safety, after all, being a shinobi meant living in constant danger.

Phew…

Yun exhaled lightly and picked up the pace, soon arriving at Konoha's flower shop street, not far from the hospital. A perfect location for the flower business.

'Huh? The Yamanaka Flower Shop?'

'In his memory, this store belonged to the Yamanaka clan. At this time, Ino Yamanaka should be around three years old?'

Ding dong!

"Welcome!"

The chime rang as a woman wearing an apron was pruning flowers. When she saw Yun, she set her scissors aside and walked over.

"Buying flowers, little guy? Are they for a girl you like?"

Yun shook his head.

"Then… maybe a gift for a teacher at the Ninja Academy?"

Still shaking his head, Yun glanced around, trying to spot the toddler version of Ino. Of the future "Konoha 12," he had only met three so far.

"…Don't tell me you're buying them for a boy classmate?"

Yamanaka Rino stared at him in shock. Had kids at the academy really become this wild?

Just then, a blond-haired man poked his head out from behind the counter. "Rino, he's probably here for chrysanthemums. Don't make wild guesses…"

'Chrysanthemums?'

Rino froze. 'Chrysanthemums were typically used for mourning the deceased.'

'Someone had… died?'

'Was this child grieving a loved one?'

Her motherly instincts kicked in, and she wiped at the corners of her eyes. "You're here for chrysanthemums, right? I just trimmed some fresh ones this morning, I'll get them for you."

Without waiting for Yun to answer, she walked to the back room.

At that moment, Yamanaka Inoichi came out from behind the counter, scratching his head. "Your age does throw people off. Back then, Kakashi came here every week for chrysanthemums, Rino would always react like this."

Yun looked up and asked, "Inoichi-senpai, no missions today?"

Inoichi smiled. "It's my day off. I get to spend it with my daughter."

Just then, a short-haired little girl with golden hair came running from the back room.

"Daddy! Will you play with me today?"

As she jumped into his arms and chattered away, she turned to look at the unfamiliar face nearby.

"Ino, say hello to your big brother."

"Hi, big brother!"

Yun chuckled. "Hello, little one."

At that moment, Rino returned from the flower room with a vibrant bouquet of chrysanthemums.

Tearing up, she handed them to Yun and said, "Poor child… That'll be, oh, wait, do you have money?"

Yun pulled out his wallet, paid, then mischievously ruffled little Ino's hair.

"Thanks, ma'am. See you later, little one!"
