Chapter 95: Card Grading
"Ptui!"
Unfortunately, Yang Zeyun's card had not even materialized before Nezha's Fire-tipped Spear pierced through his throat.
"Heh."
Nezha snorted, but before he could continue speaking, the match at the Martial Arts Arena came to an end.
"Our champion has emerged!"
Si Chengwen watched Jiang Yuan in the center of the arena, a bit excited.
Amidst the cheering and applause of the crowd, Jiang Yuan also smiled and waved to everyone.
"You've really made a name for yourself now."
Mu Qianshan, wrapping an arm around Jiang Yuan's shoulders, chuckled at Jiang Yuan as reporters swarmed towards them.
"If you're really a bro, help me block them; dealing with them is too much of a hassle." Aftergiving a wry smile, Jiang Yuan pushed Mu Qianshan out in front of him.
Meanwhile, he himself dashed towards the stage.
Qin Boyuan had just messaged him, asking to meet him on the stage afterwards.
It was a good chance to dodge the reporters.
"Uncle Qin, what's up?"
After reaching the stage, Jiang Yuan looked at Qin Boyuan curiously.
Qin Boyuan was accompanied by a few other people, whom Jiang Yuan didn't recognize much.
Only the middle-aged man with the square face seemed vaguely familiar.
"This is Si Chengwen, the mayor of Zhenhai City; and these four are the recruitment teachers from the top four academies in Great Xia." Qin Boyuan casually introduced them to Jiang Yuan.
Jiang Yuan, however, didn't dare to be casual and politely greeted everyone.
"We came to you with a question."
After glancing at the others, Qin Boyuan shook his head and chose to speak himself.
"Could we see the Weapon Card you made for Nezha?"
After Qin Boyuan finished speaking, Liu Shengshan from the side quickly added, "We're offering you a reward to look at it."
Liu Shengshan said this as he took out three cards.
Jiang Yuan laughed, "No need for a reward; my weapon card isn't a secret anymore."
Saying this, Jiang Yuan materialized the Purple Flame Serpent Spear card.
"Here, this is it."
After taking a look at the card, Qin Boyuan's pupils shrank.
More dazzling than he had imagined!
"What's going on, let me see!"
Seeing Qin Boyuan's expression, Liu Shengshan and the others became anxious, hastily taking the card from his hand to look at it.
"This!"
Sure enough, after examining the card, they looked towards Jiang Yuan with disbelief in their eyes.
"Did you really make this card?"
Li Wenchang looked Jiang Yuan up and down incredulously before asking.
"Of course, I custom-made this Equipment Card for Nezha." Jiang Yuan nodded and spoke without hesitation.
"The younger generation truly inspires awe."
Ji Qingming, who was also half a Card Maker, let out a sigh and became reflective.
To be fair, the so-called genius card maker in their academy couldn't have produced such an astonishing card at his age.
This Purple Flame Serpent Spear card could definitely reach the S-rank standard in card grading.
Starting from the blue quality cards, every card has a grade given by the Card Association aside from its quality.
However, grade and quality are different; quality is inherent upon creation.
One could say it's inborn.
Grade, on the other hand, is acquired.
Many cards of the same quality have big differences, which is why the grading system was gradually introduced.
From the highest S-rank down to the A, B, C, D ranks—a total of five levels.
Anything below that is considered substandard.
This sort of knowledge isn't covered in high school; it's only in university that explanations about card grading are provided.
There is a specific course in university dedicated to distinguishing the grades of different cards.
Jiang Yuan's ignorance of this was actually related to his family background, hence his lacking knowledge.
Mu Qianshan, for instance, was aware of card grading.
Like his previous Equipment Card, which was an A-rank blue quality card.
But after he obtained the higher-tier Purple Mansion Sword, that was discarded.
After all, he didn't use a Dual-Handed Sword.
Concerning the card quality and grading, Jiang Yuan was oblivious, which could be seen as Mu Qianshan's oversight.
Mu Qianshan forgot that Jiang Yuan's family environment meant there was nobody to inform him of this.
However, each time Jiang Yuan chose Material Cards, they were either A or B rank, so Mu Qianshan thought he knew.
While Qin Boyuan and the recruitment teachers knew something about Jiang Yuan's family circumstances,
Their attention was fixed on the card, completely overlooking such minutiae as card grades, and hence didn't mention it to Jiang Yuan.
Ji Qingming sighed, then Liu Shengshan handed over the Purple Flame Serpent Spear and three Material Cards to Jiang Yuan.
"I'll take this one."
As soon as Jiang Yuan spoke, Liu Shengshan slapped the three Material Cards into Jiang Yuan's hand.
"Take them, but you should thank Ji Qingming, he lost them to me in a bet."
Liu Shengshan chuckled, "We just made a bet on whether you or Yang Zeyun would win the championship."
"As you can see, I won."
Jiang Yuan was tempted to laugh; these four men, nearly two hundred years old put together, still had such gambling spirits.
"Take them, anyway, these cards aren't useful to me." Saying this, a wistful look flashed through Liu Shengshan's eyes,
But it quickly disappeared.
"Indeed, there's also this, which I won from Li Wenchang."
Seeing the darkened expressions of Ji Qingming and Li Wenchang, Shi Nanfei's eyes revealed a hint of mockery, as he unabashedly applied more ridicule.
The two's faces darkened even further, while Shi Nanfei slapped a purple quality Equipment Card into Jiang Yuan's hands before turning to leave.
Jiang Yuan, somewhat at a loss, looked up at Qin Boyuan; after all, he was someone Jiang Yuan was more familiar with.
"Take it, they really can't use them anymore."
Qin Boyuan sighed as well and patted Jiang Yuan's shoulder before leaving.
"Can't use them anymore? What does that mean?"
Jiang Yuan gazed at the several purple quality cards that suddenly appeared in his hand, puzzled.
"Young man, what you need to think about now is how to answer the written test in tomorrow's comprehensive exam."
Mayor Si Chengwen patted Jiang Yuan's shoulder and then left the area.
"Right, the reporters outside should have all left by now."
"Great, thank you."
Jiang Yuan thanked everyone ahead and prepared to leave after waving at the few before him.
The written exam was indeed tomorrow.
As the mayor said, he needed to focus on it.
Polishing the gun right before the battle, it might not be slick but it is bright!
Jiang Yuan unceremoniously sent a message to Mu Qianshan, planning to head home.
"Which academy are you going to choose?"
Jiang Yuan looked up to find Yang Zeyun standing at the door, asking him this question.
