Chapter 48: Chapter 47: Awakening?
In the dimly lit sewer, an eerie scene unfolded.
Endless black mist enveloped an ornate red coffin.
The lid of the coffin had been pushed open, revealing a handsome man with deep blue hair inside.
As the black mist poured in, the man's hair visibly turned gray...
After a long while...
When his hair had completely turned silver, the man opened his eyes!
"Where... am I?"
Graham looked around in confusion, still disoriented.
His vision was filled with dense lines and dots, tinting his eyes a deep purple-black.
Finally recalling that this was part of his cheat ability, Graham closed his eyes and reopened them, restoring his vision to normal.
"By the way, where is this?"
He could understand being in a coffin, Priscilla must have arranged that.
But why was it in a dirty, smelly sewer?!
After searching around, he found that Priscilla had left him some 'burial goods'; a 「Meteor」 pistol and a few gold coins.
Grabbing the items, he quickly climbed out of the sewer. The stench was unbearable.
As he emerged, Graham found himself in a relatively lively town.
The streets were filled with demi-humans and bustling vendors.
"Hot cakes~ Delicious hot cakes!"
"Hey, sir, want an appa?"
Graham looked at the muscular, intimidating man who gave him an inexplicable sense of déjà vu and instinctively declined, "Uh, no thanks."
By the way, he had climbed out through an empty manhole cover in the underground passage.
It seemed three shady figures had stolen the cover, and he had just witnessed it.
"Tch~! If you're not buying, then move aside! Don't block my business! Infact, don't you know your smell is driving away my customers?"
The muscular man's disgusted expression made Graham's face stiffen.
After a moment's thought, he took out a gold coin and placed it on the stall saying, "Give me five appas!"
Suddenly, the shopkeeper's attitude did a complete 180°, his face now full of enthusiasm, as if his earlier disdainful words had never been spoken, "Haha~! Sir, what brings you here? Oh, you want appas? You should've said so earlier~ But I don't think I have enough change. Do you have smaller denominations?"
Graham nodded in satisfaction. See? Money makes you the boss!
He then took out a silver coin from his pouch and handed it to the shopkeeper.
"Alright, five appas, that'll be 10 copper coins. Here's 90 copper coins in change. Please take it. Come again~!" said the happy shopkeeper.
"Sure," Graham took an appa, bit into it, and gave the shopkeeper a thumbs-up.
As if remembering some, Graham suddenly beckoned, "Boss, can I ask you something?"
"Of course, sir. What is it?" The shopkeeper was very enthusiastic.
"Where is this place?" asked Graham.
"Heh~! You've asked the right person! This is the town within the territory of Lord Roswaal, the Border Count of the Kingdom of Lugunica!"
"Roswaal, huh..."
Graham lowered his head in thought, then suddenly smiled inexplicably.
"What is it, sir?"
"Nothing. Thank you, boss. Give me five more appas!"
"Coming right up~!"
After bidding farewell to the shopkeeper and carrying the remaining appas, Graham ate while pondering.
Although he didn't know how he had ended up here, that didn't stop him from stirring up trouble!
He hadn't forgotten his relationship with Roswaal.
They were enemies...
And the best way to get revenge on an enemy was to crush their hopes and take away what they cared about most!
With that in mind, things were simple...
Border Count Roswaal, was it? Graham would take everything from him and consequently avenge his late Butler, Lyle!
Graham realized that his clothes were too conspicuous, all red and clearly made of luxurious high-quality fabric.
So, he first went to a clothing store, packed up his current outfit, and changed into ordinary, well-fitted clothes. He hung the money pouch at his waist and started exploring.
Although he really wanted to see Priscilla, he knew she would eventually go to the capital. He could wait for her there.
For now, he had his own business to attend to.
Unbeknownst to Graham, his new outfit was still quite eye-catching.
After all, he had silver hair, was handsome, and had an outstanding presence that made him stand out.
In a corner, a pair of crimson eyes had already locked onto him...
"Ouch~! Watch where you're going!"
While strolling, Graham suddenly bumped into a petite figure, who then had the audacity to blame him, leaving him momentarily stunned.
"Uh..."
"What 'uh'? Be more careful next time!"
The petite figure glared at him fiercely, then quickly ran off, soon disappearing from his sight.
Graham's face twitched as he looked down at the money pouch on his waist...
It was now empty. The culprit was obvious.
"Interesting. She even dared to steal from me!"
With a smirk, Graham took off in pursuit.
Meanwhile, a fierce-looking boy wearing a tracksuit that seemed out of place in this world suddenly appeared at the appa stall where Graham had been earlier...
...
