Part 2
It was early Saturday morning as Tegan walked around the facility. Timber Moon Mystic Force Academy is a famous boarding school funded by the G.D.A. or the Government Dragon Association.
When she first arrived the building was intimidating, it looked like a Castle out of fairy tales. Not the princess kind more like Frankenstein's monster. Life as a Mystic Dragon Cadet can be dangerous and strange, but other kids think its fun to fight monsters. She hugged herself, people seem to forget that they caused this apocalyptic future and to survive humanity evolved while the earth is slowly breaking down.
Tegan entered the kitchen where dragons were eating, there was adorable cackling as the dragons spoke to each other. Patches seemed like the most social one out of the bunch as he jumped and flew around the kitchen. Of course, there was some house rules to follow. 1: No flying indoors. 2: No fighting other cadets except for in the Kombat Hall. Tegan sent her thoughts to Patches as he looked up, his eyes sparkled with amusement.
Patches returned to her side as she continued to her destination. She was dressed in the Academy uniform, black plaid pants, red leather boots, and a red polo shirt with a gold dragon crest. The other Diors were dressed similar according to their element, some wore green, blue or purple. Dior was a codename for people like her. In many ways Tegan loved what it meant, Golden. All dragons have gold eyes and they can hide themselves by becoming black tattoos on their host's skin.
Tegan peeked into the not-so-crowded Kombat Hall as her best friend Sloan fought clay dummies with an ice sword. Calpurnia floated above as the sword crumbled in his hand. Frozen mist was radiating off Sloan as another clay omen appeared, her friend unleashed an army of icicle spikes. It hacked away at the imitation...until nothing was left. The temperature dropped and the room spun.
When Tegan opened her eyes she saw an orange ceiling, she sat up in her bed and felt an overwhelming sadness. There was a familiar growl which translated into words.
"Leave me alone!" she said in a muffled cry.
Patches was talking to her, he was trying to cheer her up as she walked towards the window. This was Tegan's old neighborhood that held a special place in her heart. She heard whispers from outside her cracked door as she left her room, at the top of the stairs she saw her father and older brother August talking.
"The other organs have arrived," her father said. "Your mother will be prepped for surgery in 2 days."
Her brother was crying. "That's good, that's really good news."
"A blessing indeed," her father rested a hand on her brothers shoulders. "Go, check on your sister."
"Tegan!"
When Tegan opened her eyes again the first thing she saw was 4 pairs of yellow eyes gawking at her while Sloan crouched next to her. He had dark skin, brown curly Afro with highlights, and his eyes were dark brown. Sloan had on black plaid shorts, a white long-sleeve dress shirt under a blue sweater vest, blue leather boots, and a gold dragon crest. Her condition was annoying and it brought up bad memories. Most of the time she felt like a bootleg version of Sleeping Beauty.
Sloan rubbed Calpurnia's belly. "I thought those pills were suppose to cure your random collapses?"
"Narcolepsy has no cure," Tegan sighed. "The medication I take helps to improve my condition, now I only fall asleep once a day."
"You know I heard rumors that you'll die next," Sloan held out a hand. "But that wont happen cause I got your back."
She took his hand and sung. "Night has fallen and so has the stars."
"A cosmic concert as the man on the moon wails on his 7 galaxy guitars," Sloan smiled at the nostalgia.
3 hours later, Tegan and Sloan was in the game room playing an intense round of ping pong when an alarm rang.
"Omen Alert, Omen Alert, Tegan Thorne, Lisa Salazar and Sloan Hendrix report to battle stations!"
Tegan and her fellow cadets arrived and was greeted by Dorian North or Sir North who was a Mystic Knight. He was in his late 30's with sandy blonde hair, tan skin, brown eyes and was dressed like a cowboy. There was a green dragon curled up at his feet with little horns and gold eyes, she knew his element was earth and that the dragon's name was Zara.
Sir North yelled. "Lets fly."
It was late in the afternoon as the orange sunset peeked out from behind the unsaturated hills. Lullaby City is normally very decent, but the city looked like someone had a huge party and forgot to clean up. Tegan's wings were powerful as they flew through the sky and despite being told she'll sprout wings someday it was still a strange experience. Also, learning to fly isn't easy and Diors normally learn the basics when they turn 9. She could see it was an Earth Omen with 2 heads.
"The best way to neutralize the threat is to find its enemy counterpart," Tegan explained. "Since the element is earth maybe Sloan could freeze it?"
"Very smart cadet," Sir North praised. "But that wont be enough, you'll have to use your fire to cut it down after Sloan freezes it."
Lisa tilted her head and locked her fingers together like she was a Mafia boss. "I'll distract it, I can use my wind like machine guns."
Sir North laughed and then became serious. "Good luck everyone!"
Tegan had to cover her ears as Lisa unleashed a whirlwind that cracked like thunder. She saw a giant hole form in the omen's stomach but that quickly healed. Than she heard it, horrible gurgling, every omen made a different sound as she stayed close to Sloan.
Her friend started to freeze the ground around the Mud Omen as Lisa fired her wind bullets. It was like those war reenactments as Tegan dodged falling debris. Just than ice swirled around Sloan making the omen gurgle as its green glowing eyes found them, but it was too late. The environmental hazard became a frozen statue, however, little cracks slowly started to appear on the ice. It was now or never.
Tegan summoned an army of fire swords above the monster's head and aimed. It was like watching snowfall as the omen exploded.
