Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Category Determination Exams at the Academy (17)

Chapter 40: Category Determination Exams at the Academy (17).

ـــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ

When there is a fight, naturally, one's mind drifts to think about it from a perspective different from what is common.

However, even this had its limits.

Even the uncommon had its rules.

Savage people are not peaceful.

Peaceful people are not savage.

When two people known for their cruelty meet, what would one think?

A fight will ensue.

It was a natural perspective.

Therefore, what happened moments ago made one question what is natural from now on.

For the audience outside, the lack of a fight between the heir of the Hermes family and the heir of the Baik clan was simply unbelievable.

It was chaos.

The two young men, who were unaware — or uninterested in that, were chatting comfortably.

"In your opinion, should we conduct a thorough analysis of Leon's situation?" Logan suggested.

Kang Woo did not answer immediately.

For him, joining the dominant factions in the academy was out of the question.

Aligning with those scoundrels and taking orders?

It was simply impossible.

He had his plans in mind; joining the advanced classes would slow down his plans.

He preferred to stay in a slightly lower class and gradually expand his influence.

Even if he was the center of attention due to his background, it was better than being in enemy territory.

Logan was a genius, and in turn, Kang Woo was also a genius.

Both had their own interests, but they unconsciously agreed on one thing.

To be under someone?

Haha, that is simply — beyond impossible…!!

After organizing his thoughts a bit, he replied in a playful tone.

"Well... but still, you will answer me about my previous question."

"No problem... but why do you want to know my opinion?" Logan was curious.

"Simple, will you be an obstacle for me or an ally? Your answer will tell me that," Kang Woo smiled slightly.

"If you were an obstacle, what would you do?"

"Heh," Kang Woo laughed dryly, "I would crush you."

"Ooh, what terrifying words to say."

"Anyway, the elders will not intervene, and they will not make a move against Leon."

Kang Woo began to speak in an independent voice and a tone devoid of emotion.

"That's true," Logan's eyes flickered slightly, "Even if he insulted the princess and the son of the Harvey family and others, not much will happen."

As the two spoke, their thoughts began to accelerate.

It did not reach the point of bringing in the top warriors and masters, but for the level of students, it was unrealistic to try to take revenge on Leon.

This is the effect of power.

As long as a person is strong enough, who can stop them?

Didn't Leon wreak havoc, and yet, he was not imprisoned or interrogated, and instead, he was free?

That's because the academy itself values power.

They were even willing to bear the public's wrath for not giving Leon a slap or two for insulting the talents of Cairo and Nanman!

Because of him, there were significant disturbances, and some were shocked in a way they would not recover from easily.

And yet, so what?

Didn't Leon prove his strength already?

Logan laughed disdainfully, "Cairo and Nanman's talents? Hehehe talents, yes, rather call it the crap of Cairo and Nanman!"

"They were fools, and inadvertently, that scoundrel helped me in my plans."

He did not reveal the meaning of his words, but Kang Woo laughed in turn.

This island was considered an independent state in a way; it was not easy — even if the news reached the major clans, to send people easily.

The biggest reason was the director of this academy.

Unless one was at the level of a major clan leader or a head of state, no one had the courage to confront him.

And yet, were they that foolish? To break a balance that lasted for over a hundred years, just because of the loss of some of their face?

The positions of leaders were not for decoration!

Thus, whether they took it with a sweet or bitter taste, they had to accept it.

And yet, they had to strike back at this rude brat!

A rude child, with such behavior, would grow up to be a bad example for future generations, and that was unacceptable!

It was their duty to teach the younger generation discipline and respect; that task was entrusted to the mediators, who were the masters at the Crescent Moon Academy.

"Hmph, of course, that's just an excuse," Kang Woo shook his head.

"For those old foxes, what is more important than reputation? To get this extremely useful pawn!"

Even Logan and Kang Woo, if they were in the place of those old men, would feel the temptation.

This boy Leon Evenius.

As long as he was strong enough to overpower fifty students by himself, who are considered among the strongest talents, how far would his future prospects be?

Of course, greed would rise in their hearts!

Kang Woo knew more about Leon than Logan, and yet, even Logan could easily say.

"Leon will not submit... in fact, he cannot be made to submit at all."

He was sure, the reason?

Because he felt that whether it was him, Kang Woo, or Leon, they were the same kind of people!

A lion cannot be satisfied with ruling a small territory, and a fire in the forest cannot help but spread.

These are their thoughts after interacting together and possessing a mentality that even those old men do not have.

But still, for those who did not have the same character as Leon or did not know him, those thoughts would not cross their minds.

In less than a day, during Leon's stay in the teachers' hall, the old foxes took the initiative to make the masters want to punish Leon.

But the academy was like the cunning old fox.

Before anyone among the mediators of Nanman and Cairo could impose a punishment on Leon to show the public that they had restrained him before, they made the punishment sufficient so that they would not have a good excuse to complain.

For heaven's sake, it is clear that the punishment is harsh only from the outside!

A strong person like Leon would have a hidden supporter.

The student dormitory? The scholarship? Those benefits were just a carrot to attract naive children without support, and they were of no use to the children of the strong clans!

It is impossible for Leon to be poor.

And yet, they could not object because the punishment was indeed sufficient.

What angered them was the director's malicious move to have the vice president of the student council accompany Leon throughout the semester.

Thus, because of the punishment, the academy had an excuse to monitor Leon and thwart their open attempts to recruit him!

The factions that ruled the academy were divided into four.

The Cairo faction, the Nanman faction, the academy faction itself, and finally, the neutral faction.

The Cairo faction was naturally led by the royal Hardian family.

However, there were other prominent families that restrained the royal family, and they were merely nominal leaders to maintain balance in the faction.

The Nanman faction was led by the major clans, and those clans competed among themselves for power, unlike the nobles, they had a sense of kinship more than them despite the conflicts.

However, due to the multitude of clans and their differences in the faction, they did not have complete trust in each other.

The academy faction, which was secretly led by the academy director, consisted of the island's residents and some residents of Nanman and Cairo who settled here.

This faction, despite its weak appearance, was as strong as the Cairo and Nanman factions, and yet, it had only recently formed and the other two factions did not allow it to grow smoothly.

Finally, the neutral faction, which consisted of those who did not want to enter the political conflicts among the other three, and maintained a friendly relationship with the other factions.

No faction could suppress the others overwhelmingly.

And yet, Leon suddenly appeared!

Overwhelming power, a cunning mind with an unrestrained personality and relentless behavior!

That was the mentality suitable for kings!

Whoever controls him will win in this power struggle!

In the first hidden battle, the academy was one step ahead of the other factions, and they had the initiative with Leon.

Suppressing the boy? Haha, this kind of person hated restrictions and did not like to be controlled by anyone.

The only useful method of control was slow control with this kind of person.

While studying at the academy, he would interact with students, whether he wanted to or not.

Those interactions would gradually turn — into friendships and rivalries, love and hatred would form in the boy's heart.

As long as they connect him with others and bind him with relationships like love and friendship or kinship, those relationships would become his chains.

Over time, he would become more cautious and blend into society, and he would have things to fear and worry about; he would fear for his friends and loved ones.

With such a situation happening, wouldn't he eventually submit to them?

They could offer him benefits, they could win his friendship.

They could even offer their daughters to marry him or make him fall in love with them.

Let's take Marcus Hardian as an example; as long as the benefits are sufficient, even if he gave one of his daughters to Leon, so what?

As long as he has a descendant from his daughter, wouldn't he submit?

For the greater good of Cairo, the king must make sacrifices, of course!

What if they sacrificed some women or the happiness of their children for the public good, wouldn't that be for the better?

"Well... there's the situation of Leon dancing with the princess of Cairo, maybe he likes her? The princess could exploit that, right?" Logan wondered.

The strong falling in love with beauties was not strange at all.

"Pfft!" Kang Woo suddenly spat and almost choked!

"Now, what did you say? He fell in love with her? Haha, ah, that's right, you just met him."

"Hmm? What do you mean?" Logan was confused.

What's strange about my words?

"I has already tried that."

"... What?"

Logan looked at him in confusion for a moment.

"You! Stay away from me! I'm not swinging that way!" As if he understood something, he moved away from him.

"I didn't think you had those tendencies," Logan looked at him as if he were trash.

"That scoundrel?!" Kang Woo widened his eyes in anger.

"You son of a bitch! I don't have that disgusting kind of thoughts!"

Kang Woo frowned in displeasure and felt insulted, of course!

There are limits to being disgusting and scum, useless trash or a coward, a foolish idiot whose integrity is in question.

But what? To be gay! Don't joke with me! Even a shameless person has their pride!

It's like having the wealth and power of the world and a family that loves you, but you simply throw it away because a random woman told you that you are her Romeo, or because of depression.

That's simply disgusting!

"Well... but until you explain yourself, I'll be on guard; despite appearances, I won't lose in a fight!" Logan was still skeptical.

"I'll kill you, you son of a bitch, if you don't stop this joke!"

"Anyway!" Logan coughed and changed the subject, "What do you mean you tried?"

"When my clan witnessed his vote, they became greedy, and my sister tried to ensnare him before, but nothing worked."

"Doesn't that mean he's just gay?"

Logan suddenly felt disappointed in Leon.

Tut tut tut, Leon... I didn't think you were like this.

Unbeknownst to him, the worst accusation he could get, Logan thought of it towards Leon.

"He himself publicly declared his contempt for gays, but he sees women as creatures like others, not as people of the opposite sex," Kang Woo continued.

Ah, somehow, I'm sorry, Leon.

I was wrong about you.

Anyway.

"Eh? Is that even possible?" Logan felt confused.

He doesn't see women as women? But as creatures?

What does that even mean? Is he an alien?

"You'll understand it over time; in fact, even if he fell in love, it wouldn't be useful either, he doesn't submit to fleeting emotions and controls them completely."

After saying that, Kang Woo fell silent, unsure of what more to say.

"Forget it, what cannot be understood should not be thought about."

"You're right."

"Friendship and kinship, why are they emphasized so much in societies?" Logan asked.

Kang Woo understood what he was getting at and thought about it himself.

Why is wild and creative behavior despised in society?

"Hahaha, what a irony, the ones who emphasize solidarity the most are the ones who despise it the most," Logan said disdainfully.

"Why do governments in our world emphasize morality? That's to control the people!" Kang Woo naturally knew the answer.

He had been in political struggles since childhood, not to mention the schemes and betrayals he had witnessed throughout his life.

Logan, of course, was not stupid either.

For the individual, as long as they are part of the system, they must submit to the system, because that's how the world is!

The best prison is not the one with the best guards.

In fact, the best prison is the one that the person does not realize, and thinks it's paradise.

Society is nothing more than a large prison that people do not realize.

And yet, they themselves are the first to rush to protect that prison when a problem arises.

These people are truly pitiful.

"The methods that can be used to accelerate control over him are numerous, and yet..."

Logan stole the words from his mouth, "The only problem — is Leon's unknown supporter."

The general sequence of thoughts is simple in this situation.

As long as Leon is this strong, the person supporting him from behind the scenes, how strong is their power?

This was also one of the reasons that prevented those in power from acting recklessly.

There was no need to rush, as long as they control Leon, or even hold onto a weakness of his, and as long as the benefits satisfy everyone, they could even attract his supporter to their side!

In this world, it doesn't matter if a person is good or bad, what matters is only power!

The eternal enemy, the eternal ally, such a thing did not exist.

What remains are interests, but people come and go.

With his new understanding of Leon, Logan felt it was impossible for Leon not to notice this.

His step into class (D) certainly carried a deep meaning.

Interesting... really interesting!

"Interesting... no, fun and exciting!"

His eyes sparkled with a bright light.

"Kang Woo!" He looked at him with fiery eyes.

"What? Have you made up your mind about something?"

Kang Woo was still lying down, answering while watching the ceiling.

"Yes," Logan's gaze was serious: "What do you think about cooperating with me?"

"An ally, huh? That depends on what you want to ally about."

"Chaos!"

"Chaos?" Kang Woo sat up, analyzing Logan's words.

They were not worried about being overheard.

To maintain privacy among students, and to prevent the public from inciting student conflicts after battles, sound was isolated in the hall.

"Leon's intentions, since I just met him, I can't understand them exactly but... I know one thing."

"The deadlock will be broken, and chaos will ensue," taking the words from his lips, Kang Woo smiled and said.

"That boastful brat... anyway, that's true, why don't we contribute to that?"

"Hehehe, you said what I wanted to bring up from the start," Kang Woo's eyes gleamed coldly.

The two were similar, so they understood each other immediately, and the meaning was clear — let's spread chaos!

"And so, I'm going to the same place!" Logan said jokingly.

"And? What will you do now? Will you fight?"

"Hmph, from the beginning, you had no intention of fighting."

The two looked at each other for a moment while sitting.

"Rock... Paper..."

"W-What! You scoundrel! Don't surprise me!"

Scissors!

Kang Woo suddenly started a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, catching Logan off guard.

Logan: Paper.

Kang Woo: Scissors.

The winner, Kang Woo.

"Hehehe, that means I'll surrender."

He raised his hand with a smile, looking smugly at Logan, who was angry at Kang Woo's despicable move.

"I withdraw."

He didn't want to win this way.

This scoundrel is the son of the one who opened her legs for passersby! He made it seem as if he was giving charity to a poor person!

[ Student Baik Kang Woo has withdrawn, thus, the victory goes to student Logan Hermes. ]

The mechanical voice echoed in Logan's ears, Kang Woo left him with a few words.

"I'm going to class (C)."

"Do your best not to get expelled, or I'll be sad, kekekeke."

His voice was mocking as he walked with his hands in his pockets.

His cloak fluttered with the wind as the gate slowly closed behind him.

"Hehehe, we'll see," instead of anger, Logan smiled coldly.

He stood in the spot alone for a while before leaving through the opposite door, to the place where Kang Woo had exited.
