Myriad Spirits Immortal Clan

Chapter 1

Chapter 1: Fairness

In the bright alchemy chamber, the flames suddenly surged.

The next moment, black smoke puffed out from the pill furnace in front of Ye Jingcheng.

A faint stench began to spread. Even under the roasting heat of the fire, it was still unpleasant.

The temperature was too high. The refinement failed!

And it was the Spirit Nourishing Pill he was most familiar with.

But Ye Jingcheng didn’t look gloomy—instead, his eyes gleamed with excitement and anticipation.

Because the ancient book inside his body, the first page had fully lit up and taken shape.

Ye Jingcheng was a transmigrator. He had crossed into the Ye Clan more than ten years ago. From having no one to rely on, he rose to become one of the Ye Clan’s lofty immortal masters—only to learn that he possessed Four Spiritual Roots, making his cultivation painfully slow.

The hardships he endured were even more tumultuous than the ups and downs of his previous life.

This was a world of immortal cultivators, where supreme experts could command the wind and rain, wielding power beyond mortal comprehension. Those who reached the pinnacle could even live as long as the heavens!

His only reliance, and his greatest secret, was the yellow-covered ancient book embedded with mysterious spirit patterns inside his body.

Just now, the ancient book had lit up, releasing spiritual radiance that seized all of his attention—causing him to make a mistake in the refinement he was so familiar with.

Half a day’s work ruined in an instant.

On the pages of the ancient book, faint spirit patterns were etched with rare and strange beasts, and each page was completely different.

The details were intricate. Ye Jingcheng had even tested the spiritual light emitted by the book. It was extremely effective in healing and nurturing livestock. He had once even tried using it to save a dying bird.

But it consumed a lot of spiritual light.

Thankfully, it could slowly regenerate, though it had never fully recovered. Today was the first time it had ever released such a dazzling glow.

It was just a pity that although Ye Jingcheng was part of a beast taming clan, he hadn’t yet had the chance to obtain a demon beast cub with real potential.

Ye Jingcheng pondered for a long while, but the sound of a bell soon broke his thoughts.

He formed a hand seal and used telekinesis to remove the pill furnace. He then took out a Frost Silkworm Cloth, carefully wrapping it around the scorching-hot ear handles of the massive furnace.

Only then did he pour the remaining pill liquid into a wooden box he had prepared beforehand.

After storing it in his storage bag, he used a special furnace brush to clean the inner walls of the pill furnace thoroughly.

Not until it looked flawless to the naked eye did he stop.

Ye Jingcheng stroked the still-warm ears of the furnace and let out a sigh.

“When can I get my own pill furnace?”

This one belonged to the Ye Family. As a member of the clan, he was allowed to borrow it, but any spirit pills refined with it had to be sold to the Ye Family at half the normal price.

If he had his own furnace, he could sell them to the family at 80% of the price instead.

The bell outside sounded again.

“Coming!” Ye Jingcheng responded and hurriedly used the special broom nearby to clean up.

He glanced around, and only after confirming that the alchemy room looked no different from before did he finally step outside.

The hall outside was extremely spacious, and thanks to the formations in place, it wasn’t hot at all. It felt like a completely different world compared to the room inside.

An old man dressed in a gray-white Daoist robe was ringing the bell outside his alchemy room.

Behind the old man stood three or four other Ye clan members dressed similarly.

They had clearly been waiting for a while, their faces looked a bit grim, as if they’d been baked under the heat for too long.

Ye Jingcheng gave a wry smile. He knew that the 9th Elder, Ye Haitian, who guarded the Pill Pavilion, had secretly given him extra time again.

The elder walked over to the table in the hall and took out a brush and ink, and began to record everything one by one:

“Alright, hurry over, count your gains, the next batch is about to come in!”

“Jingyun, 30 Spirit Nourishing Pills refined using the clan’s pill furnace. Each pill valued at 1 contribution point, totaling 30 points. Furnace rental for three days, 6 points. Final balance, 24 contribution points!”

……

Soon, it was Ye Jingcheng’s turn to be tallied.

As usual, he took out five palm-sized pill bottles and placed them in front of the elder.

Each bottle was filled and exuded a faint pill fragrance.

The elder looked up, not with praise, but with a surprised glance at Ye Jingcheng. “Planning to buy a spirit beast?”

Normally, Ye Jingcheng could refine seven batches in three days. Spirit Nourishing Pills were a large-batch pill like Fasting Pills. Each batch yielded at least ten pills, sometimes even fifteen or sixteen.

So, in the elder’s eyes, Ye Jingcheng kept some for himself.

The Ye Family was a beast taming clan. Unlike other families that focused solely on spiritual roots, the Ye Family also valued the quality of spirit beasts.

It could even be said that if you could raise an exceptional spirit beast, the Ye family will focus on cultivating you even if you have Five Spiritual Roots.

“9th Elder, your insight is truly godly!” Ye Jingcheng scratched his head and nodded with a sheepish smile rarely seen on him.

“Let me tally up your contribution points,” Ye Haitian took Ye Jingcheng's family token and began the routine procedure.

“Jingcheng, 50 Spirit Nourishing Pills using the family's furnace. Each pill valued at 1 contribution point, totaling 50 points. Additionally, the pills carry a fragrance and that's a special bonus of 30 points. Furnace rental for three days, 6 points. Final balance, 74 contribution points.”

Ye Haitian spoke lightly.

Ye Jingcheng was stunned. Although Spirit Nourishing Pills with pill fragrance were better, it was definitely not enough to warrant a reward.

The Ye Family didn't have this rule. This was Ye Haitian secretly helping him.

“9th Elder…”

“Jingcheng, remember this—in the cultivation world, absolute fairness is the greatest unfairness. The Ye Clan is no exception,” Ye Haitian said, offering no further explanation as he gestured for Ye Jingcheng to leave.

He continued recording entries into the scroll for contribution points.

Ye Jingcheng clutched the family token and bowed deeply.

In the Ye Family, contribution points could be exchanged at a 1:1 rate with low-grade spirit stones.

But in reality, contribution points were far more valuable than low-grade spirit stones.

Some of the family's treasures and some spirit beast cubs could only be exchanged using contribution points.

The Ye Family was not considered a large clan among the Foundation Establishment families, they were only modestly well-known. But when it came to spirit beasts, they held a respectable reputation throughout the entire Taihang Mountains.

Ye Jingcheng had Four Spiritual Roots—wood, water, fire, and earth—missing only metal. He entered the mountain 11 and was now 21, currently at the 4th Stage of Qi Refinement. That was the result of his diligence and his deeper understanding of how precious cultivation was compared to his peers!

Even so, he still lagged far behind other cultivators his age with Three Spiritual Roots.

That’s why he had spent the past three years diligently refining pills and saving up contribution points to exchange for a good spirit beast.

And now, his family token held exactly 400 contribution points.

But don't mistake this for a trivial amount. For reference, a mid-stage Qi Refinement cultivator in the Ye Family only earned five low-grade spirit stones a year. Even as an alchemist, he’d only receive two more than that annually.

The only reason he had managed to save 400 on top of his own cultivation was because he had a bit of talent in alchemy.

And even then, he couldn’t spend it all on a spirit beast cub. He needed contribution points for his own cultivation, to buy alchemy ingredients, and for future food for the spirit beast cub....

His only hope was that the jade book in him has more than just healing effects on spirit beast cubs!

Ye Jingcheng felt another wave of headache.

As he walked, he soon arrived at the family’s Demon Hunting Hall.
