MyGO!! A Story Voiced by Me

Chapter 37: Chapter 37

As the camera gradually pulled back, three more girls appeared on the screen.

Soyo recognized them at a glance: Taki, Tomori, and Mutsumi Wakaba.

Just like her, they were one-hundred-percent perfect replicas.

One could say that anyone who knew them would be able to recognize them instantly.

Seriously, you just drew them as they are?

Or would 'modeled' be more appropriate for 3D animation?

Forget it, none of that matters.

You said it was based on CRYCHIC, but you didn't say it would be this faithful!

Soyo felt that her personal likeness rights had been violated.

And this scene... she felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity...

"Saki-chan~"

The sudden cutesy voice from the TV made Soyo shudder slightly.

"Thank goodness, you're finally here!"

Sakiko appeared from behind the door. The Soyo in the anime, hearing the sound, ran up to the blue-haired girl with an excited expression, like a fledgling finally seeing its mother.

"Why are you so wet? Are you okay?"

Watching the anime version of herself take out a handkerchief to wipe the rainwater from Sakiko's face, Soyo finally remembered. Wasn't this the scene from when Sakiko quit the band?

But... was my voice really that high-pitched and fake?

Hearing one's own voice from a third-person perspective is a completely different experience. At this moment, Soyo only felt an inexplicable sense of embarrassment.

"You haven't been coming to school lately, and you haven't been replying to my messages..."

Watching the anime version of herself, still oblivious to what was about to happen, Soyo's body tensed up.

Because she knew what was coming next. Sakiko was about to say the words that would tear CRYCHIC apart, words she never wanted to hear again.

No, I can't let her say it!

Soyo felt as if she had been transported into the anime, standing right in front of the rain-soaked Sakiko. But what could she do to make her change her mind?

Soyo, think of a way to persuade her!

Complex thoughts raced through her mind in a hundredth of a second. Her world-shocking wisdom led her to the answer, which was...

"Sakiko, what will it take for you to not quit CRYCHIC? As long as it's something I can do, I'll do anything?!"

("I have something to say today. I'm quitting CRYCHIC!")

Soyo's voice and the voice of the anime's Sakiko rang out almost simultaneously. When the girl came to her senses, she found that she had, at some point, knelt on the floor, one hand reaching out towards the Sakiko on the TV, as if trying to grasp something.

"..."

Even Soyo herself couldn't help but blush.

She silently stood up and returned to the sofa.

It was a good thing she was home alone. Otherwise, this would have been a true social death.

At the same time, a certain girl living in a cramped, damp room bit her lip as she watched the scene of herself quitting CRYCHIC on a shabby television.

If she hadn't been forced by her circumstances, why would she ever have been willing to leave this band that had brought her so much joy?

But she had no choice. Even if she had to do it all over again, she would make the same choice.

Because she and they...

...were already no longer people of the same world!

As Sakiko announced her departure, the other girls reacted in different ways. Only Mutsumi Wakaba stared out the window, unmoving, as if she had long foreseen it.

"W-wait, why don't we sit down first?"

Soyo naturally couldn't accept this outcome. She wanted to use a delaying tactic, to figure out the situation before persuading Sakiko to change her mind.

"Why? Did something happen?"

"Can't you tell us?"

"Or are we the reason?"

It was clear that the Soyo in the anime was trying very hard to stop Sakiko from quitting.

"...But you were the one who suggested forming CRYCHIC. If you quit first..."

However, although Soyo's gentleness was only on the surface, she did have some skills.

Hearing her words, a flicker of hesitation appeared in Sakiko's previously unmoved eyes.

For a moment, Soyo even thought she could make her change her mind.

But the Soyo watching now, having already experienced it once, knew that everything she did was futile.

"Are you... really quitting?"

"Tomori is asking you!"

"And aren't you being a little too irresponsible?"

Sure enough, as Tomori spoke, the pressure-freak Taki officially entered the fray.

"Why aren't you saying anything?"

"Taki-chan, stop it!"

The Soyo on the screen just wanted to yell at Taki to stop making things worse. The Soyo outside the screen, remembering it now, only felt her blood pressure soar.

She had been so close to convincing Sakiko. If it weren't for this pig-headed teammate making a mess, perhaps everything would have been different.

"If you're going to quit, can you at least not make things difficult for us?"

"We waited for you today..."

"Rikki!"

"You all managed without me, didn't you?"

Hearing Sakiko's now-cold tone, Soyo didn't know what she was thinking back then. All she knew was that right now, she felt completely numb.

And with Taki's assault, Sakiko's emotions seemed to detonate, and she started blaming Tomori directly.

"Tomori was waiting for you!"

As Tomori's guard, Taki unsurprisingly exploded as well, and the two almost came to physical blows.

"Wait a minute! Let's just talk this through, okay?"

The Soyo on the screen was clearly at her wit's end, but for the sake of the band's stability, she could only smile and act as the peacemaker.

"We were all having so much fun before."

Mentally and physically exhausted in less than a minute, Soyo tried to bring in reinforcements, hoping Mutsumi would bail her out.

"Mutsumi-chan thinks so too, right?"

Watching the on-screen Soyo look at Mutsumi Wakaba with an expectant face, the real Soyo couldn't help but clench her fists.

That was probably the decision she regretted most in her life.

Mutsumi Wakaba was not the unifier of CRYCHIC, but its gravedigger.

It was she who had made the wrong decision, trusting the untrustworthy Mutsumi, which led to Sakiko's departure and the disbandment of CRYCHIC.

As expected, it was all her fault!

"I..."

And Mutsumi Wakaba, "living up to expectations," delivered the final blow that shattered CRYCHIC.

"...have never had fun playing in a band!"

"...Precious Mutsumi, be gentle!"

As the Cucumber Sword Princess in the anime delivered the fatal blow, Kamijo Mutsumi's arm was squeezed painfully by the real one.

"Mutsumi..."

Seeing this, she quickly let go, but looked at him with a resentful expression.

"This... why did you have to film this?"

Although she had said it to cover for Sakiko at the time, she had actually felt guilty about her words ever since.

Now, seeing the famous scene play out, she naturally felt awful.

"Adaptation is not random fabrication. Artistic license is not nonsense," Kamijo Mutsumi said, having his excuse ready. "When making an anime, you have to respect the facts."
