Chapter 70: My Wives Of Simulation [70]
Chapter 70: Aren'T We Lovers?
______
Utaha's verbal attack didn't faze Yuki in the slightest. Coming from a family of diplomats, Yuki excelled in both wit and articulation. In this regard, perhaps only Chika, who hailed from a similarly prestigious family, could rival her.
Effortlessly, Yuki deflected Utaha's jab. Not only that, she turned the tables, redirecting the focus back onto Kasumigaoka herself. This shift was evident in the subtle reactions of the onlookers.
"Trouble? This isn't trouble at all. After all, Elric and I are very good friends, isn't that right?"
As she spoke, Yuki glanced toward Elric, who stood silently to the side. Utaha's confidence didn't waver. She was certain Elric would stand by her—her faith in him was unwavering.
"Ah? Friends?"
Elric tilted his head, a subtle smile forming as he observed the crowd's varied reactions. Internally, he marveled at how he had never noticed the complicated feelings these girls seemed to harbor for him until now.
Having lived through the glory of the Roman Empire and the might of Britain in his past lives, the current "King of Glory" was no longer the naive boy who knew nothing of love or the minds of women.
Seeing Utaha's expectant gaze, he understood that she was seeking his support. But as the king, his perspective diverged from hers.
"Utaha, aren't you my lover?"
His words were direct and bold. What is a king, if not proud?
What is a king, if not greedy?
Would a true king ever deny his identity? Would he ever relinquish what he desired? Such hesitation would strip him of his very essence as a king.
By openly declaring that he and Utaha were lovers, Elric made it clear: he would not allow his woman to feel wronged. Nor would he conceal anything, for he was the king.
As for the others? He had always viewed them as friends. But now that he realized some of them harbored deeper feelings for him, he would not reject their love.
How could an emperor who once seized all he desired, ruled the Roman Empire, and established Britain's enduring monarchy, ever fear a so-called Shura Field?
Looking at Utaha, Elric spoke with calm frankness: "Utaha and I confirmed our relationship last night. She may not want to embarrass me, but I don't mind."
"...!"
Utaha bit her lower lip, stunned.
She had indeed refrained from making any grand declarations. She wasn't naive—she could see her rivals in Yuki, Kaguya, and the others. She understood that her beloved god, Elric, was a man of such stature that her own significance as a single person might pale in comparison.
She was just an ordinary follower, a mere Follower in the presence of her god. It was only natural, she thought, to fear being abandoned.
That was why she had chosen silence, swallowing her jealousy and insecurities. What she hadn't anticipated was Elric openly acknowledging their relationship in front of everyone.
His words touched her deeply.
Watching him now, Utaha felt a warmth rise within her, a heat she couldn't ignore. She suddenly regretted not accepting his offer to visit a hotel earlier that morning. Her heart, overwhelmed by his unwavering declaration, beat faster.
"Lover...?"
Yuki and the other girls were visibly startled by Elric's bold statement. But after the initial shock wore off, a strange calm settled among them.
For those who knew Elric well, his actions weren't unexpected.
"If it's Elric, of course he'd ensure his lover felt secure. That's just who he is."
Such thoughts flowed through the minds of those present. Yet despite this understanding, none of the girls seemed inclined to step back or give up.
The girls who admired Elric had liked him for a long time. Each one was proud and confident, accustomed to looking down on other men. None of them believed they couldn't compete with Utaha, his childhood Friend.
And even if they couldn't surpass her, why not simply join her? If they couldn't beat her, they could stand alongside her.
The Yukinoshita sisters hailed from a prestigious family.
Shinomiya Kaguya was the eldest daughter of the Shinomiya family, one of the five great chaebols.
Yuki Suou came from an aristocratic lineage, her family influential in diplomatic circles.
Then there was Kashiwazaki Sena, who found Elric uniquely special from the moment they met and couldn't stop thinking about him.
Horikita Suzune was another, someone who didn't yet understand her feelings but instinctively wanted to follow Elric's lead.
Aside from Fujiwara Chika and Ai Hayasaka, the other girls felt no sense of defeat. Instead, the situation stoked their competitive fire.
Some even entertained the idea of being together. After all, in their world, sharing wasn't unheard of. They simply couldn't let go of Elric.

"Wow, well, first of all, congratulations to Elric for finally escaping the fate of being single."
Clapping her hands, Haruno was the first to break the silence. She shot Elric a knowing look, seemingly amused by the spectacle. Her quick intervention diffused the brewing tension between Yuki and Utaha. After all, if left unchecked, who knew what strange developments might unfold?
"Kasumigaoka-san, let's set aside the small talk for now. Why don't you show us your kendo skills?"
Recalling Utaha's average performance in sports, Haruno had her doubts about Utaha's claim. However, given that she was also a member of the Ten Thousand world chat group, Haruno assumed she had some hidden talent or ability.
Surely she hadn't joined the student council just to engage in jealousy-fueled disputes—that would be too ridiculous.
"Well, actually, I don't know kendo."
Utaha's admission was straightforward and honest. She had a strong physique, but her knowledge of kendo was nonexistent. Even though there had been some guidance within the group, mastery wasn't something one could achieve overnight.
"But," she continued, skillfully redirecting the topic, "I have excellent physical strength, and I'm confident I could achieve a high ranking in kendo with just a little practice."
To prove her point, she casually picked up a 30-kilogram dumbbell sitting nearby. With one hand, she tossed it into the air, caught it effortlessly, and began to toy with it as if it were no more than a feather.
The room fell silent as everyone watched in astonishment.
The girls exchanged glances, their thoughts aligning: Is this girl serious?

Author's Note:
This reflects the personality of the protagonist I had in mind. Having experienced two simulations and ruled over two great nations, Elric wouldn't fear the petty conflicts of girls vying for his affection. Nor would he conceal his identity—after all, a king must possess the pride and dignity of a king.
A story without style or proper pacing drags and fails to hold readers' interest. My approach is to steadily establish the protagonist's relationships, conquer supernatural powers in the real world, explore additional heroines, and then venture into other universes like Type Moon. These elements will be interwoven throughout the plot.
This is the story I wish to tell.
