Chapter 34: Chapter 33: Mellie's Visit
Chapter 33: Mellie's Visit
______
"Morgan, I'm back."
After his journey to Camelot, Elric finally returned to the City of Glory late at night.
As he stepped through the door, he was greeted by the sight of Morgan and Vivian waiting for him at the entrance.
"You're back, Rhine."
"Welcome home, Master."
Standing at the bedroom door, they dismissed the maids, leaving only the three of them. Morgan and Vivian stood together, Elric with the quiet anticipation of devoted wives.
The two, who would normally clash whenever Elric was present, now exuded an unexpected harmony.
During Elric's absence, both had realized the truth: the source of their rivalry was none other than Elric himself.
Beside the man they loved and trusted the most, both Morgan and Vivian could freely express the depths of their hearts. But when he was gone, the two reverted to their original selves.
One was a lonely Flower Fairy from Avalon, once isolated and companionless.
The other was a witch, abandoned by her father, alienated from her country, and cursed by fate despite her immense power.
Through this separation, they each came to understand what truly mattered to them.
My heart is racing... ×2
As they gazed at Elric, even though they had spent so much time together, both Morgan and Vivian felt like shy young girls experiencing love for the first time. They could only look at him as he embraced them.
The night sky was radiant, stars twinkling brightly overhead.
Morgan, in her pure black gown, and Vivian, in her pristine white dress, joined Elric in a dance beneath the shimmering light. Despite being a trio, their movements felt natural, fluid, and harmonious, as though it were always meant to be this way.
"Morgan, Vivian, I'm back."
As he looked at the two women under the starlit sky, Elric saw the vulnerability and tenderness reflected in their deep blue and crimson eyes.
The heavens seemed to glow brighter, illuminating Morgan and Vivian's elegant forms. The faint glimpse of their "absolute domains" beneath their skirts—dark and white—was irresistibly captivating.
If resistance was futile, then surrender was inevitable.
Faced with the love of these two extraordinary women, words became meaningless. Elric knew what he had to do. Taking their hands, he gazed into their eyes.
In that shared silence, a profound understanding passed between them.
The night stretched endlessly.
---
By morning, Elric was the first to awaken.
Though there is an old saying, "There is no field that cannot be plowed, only cows that cannot be worked to death," it held little relevance for Elric. With the essence of a god flowing through him, a mere Flower Fairy and witch were no match for his vitality.
"Rhine..."
"Master..."
Morgan and Vivian stirred, waking to find Elric beside them. As their skin pressed against his, they could feel the steady warmth of his presence.
Rhine... Master... He's so warm.×2
This unprecedented closeness entranced them. The profound fulfillment of both body and soul erased all their loneliness and fears of being burdensome or cursed.
I never want to let go!
I never want to let go!
In their hearts, a shared resolve took hold:
I will never leave Elric in this lifetime.
A surge of emotions overwhelmed Morgan and Vivian as they looked at Elric, unable to tear their eyes away from him.
For Morgan, the realization struck like lightning: she had found the person she loved most. For the first time, she could affirm with certainty that she was no longer an unwanted child.
King Uther, Britain, witches—none of it mattered anymore.
Her entire being—her chest, her mind, her heart—was filled with Elric. At that moment, as she looked directly into his eyes, an indescribable sense of satisfaction washed over her.
"Good morning, Morgan. Good morning, Vivian."
Seeing the two women staring at him, the Emperor of Glory greeted them warmly, a gentle smile on his face.
"Good morning, Rhine."
Morgan gazed at him intently, her eyes tracing every detail of his face as if trying to commit every feature to memory.
Seeing her expression, Elric smiled, finding an ethereal charm in her shy demeanor—a beauty reminiscent of an orchid blooming quietly in the valley.
Meanwhile, Vivian had her own unique way of offering a morning greeting.
"Vivian, you..."
As Elric turned to address her efforts with amusement, the moment was abruptly interrupted.
"Hey, Reinhard! I'm here as promised! Come out and pick me up!"
Dragging an assortment of gifts, the lively and mischievous girl, Mellie Ambrosius, had arrived.
---
"Reinhard, I'm here as promised! Come out to greet me!"
Just as Elric was about to deepen his connection with Morgan and Vivian, Mellie's energetic voice echoed from outside the palace.
"Who is making such a racket? Where are the guards?"
Morgan's face darkened as she looked toward the source of the noise. The idea that someone had managed to bypass the heavily guarded palace and approach Elric's bedroom infuriated her.
"This voice… could it be her?"
Vivian's expression mirrored Morgan's as she recognized the voice that had been absent for years. Memories of a rather unreliable old friend resurfaced.
"Mellie?"
Elric looked between the two women, equally surprised. He had not anticipated that the national teacher of Camelot would appear at Glory so openly. Though Mellie was a powerful wizard with the potential to claim a Crown, her audacious behavior suggested she feared nothing—not even death.
"Who is Mellie? Rhine, do you know her?"
Hearing Elric's familiarity with the name, Morgan frowned, her curiosity piqued.
"Mellie Ambrosius, the national teacher of Britain. You've met her before, haven't you?"
"National teacher?"
Morgan and Vivian followed Elric as he stepped out of the hall, now dressed appropriately.
Morgan searched her memory for the figure he mentioned. The so-called "national teacher" she recalled was a cloaked enigma, rarely speaking and constantly wandering. But as her gaze fell upon the petite, vibrant girl before her, Morgan struggled to reconcile the two images.
From her appearance alone, Mellie seemed younger, softer, and more delicate than Morgan herself.
"Oh, isn't this Morgan? You've grown so mature."
Mellie tilted her head, her tone playful as she regarded Morgan with a casual familiarity that left the witch visibly unsettled.
"Master Mellie, what brings you here?"
Morgan's voice carried a mixture of surprise and disbelief. She had never seen Mellie without her cloak before.
"Why am I here? Naturally, to fulfill my promise to Rhine."
Mellie's smile widened, her enthusiasm brimming as she continued, "Starting today, I'll be living here with you. Please take care of me."
Her cheerful declaration left Morgan speechless. The great wizard of Camelot, who stood before her in such stark contrast to her usual enigmatic demeanor, grinned brightly as she addressed her new hosts.
