Chapter 895: Farewell to Divine Son Arthur
Ding True Man was quick to understand the situation, bowing respectfully to Gu Lan before stepping back.
After he left, Gu Lan immediately focused and adjusted his aura. With a single step, he was instantly suspended in the void above.
Though Gu Lan wasn't particularly concerned about Divine Son Arthur or Young Lord Xuanyuan, he felt the need to investigate. He wanted to uncover the true nature of the Divine King Hall. He had heard about it in the Immortal Realm but never encountered it directly. All he knew was that the palace contained many formidable experts, which piqued his curiosity.
Just as Gu Lan took his first step, a figure appeared behind him—Gu Simu had followed.
"Father, where are you going?" she asked.
Hearing her voice, Gu Lan stopped and withdrew his foot.
"You little brat." Gu Lan smiled wryly. "I'm going to handle some matters. Stay here."
"I'm coming with you," Gu Simu said, her face lighting up with a mischievous grin as she gathered her own aura.
Realizing she was determined to join him, Gu Lan sighed and gave in. "Fine, but you must listen to me."
Gu Simu readily agreed, nodding enthusiastically. Seeing her so eager, Gu Lan decided not to protest further.
With a final exchange, Gu Lan adjusted his aura and stepped forward.
---
The two moved with incredible speed, and in no time, they arrived in a dim, desolate void. There, Gu Lan spotted a familiar figure.
Arthur stood in the distance, a smug smile on his face.
As soon as Gu Simu saw him, her eyes blazed with murderous intent. "It's that guy. Let me take care of him."
Without hesitation, she summoned her Hammer of Evergreen Pine. After all, Arthur had caused her significant harm before, and she wasn't about to let him off lightly.
But before she could act, Gu Lan swiftly blocked her path.
"Did you forget your promise to your father?"
At Gu Lan's command, Gu Simu reluctantly withdrew her aura, though she was clearly displeased. Despite her internal frustration, she obeyed her father's wishes.
Gu Lan's cold eyes never left Arthur, his gaze filled with intent to kill. He too longed to eliminate Arthur, but he knew now wasn't the time. He didn't know what kind of powerful figures Arthur might have by his side, so it was best to wait.
Suddenly, as Gu Lan and Gu Simu continued watching, more than a hundred figures appeared behind Arthur. Each of them radiated formidable power, leaving Gu Lan visibly startled.
After considering his options, Gu Lan summoned the Hongmeng Sword.
"You stay here. I'll go check things out," Gu Lan said, his voice leaving no room for argument.
Before Gu Simu could protest, he moved swiftly, not giving her a chance to follow. If she caught up, escaping would become much more difficult.
With a frown, Gu Simu reluctantly stood back, clearly upset.
Arthur, still grinning, noticed Gu Lan's arrival. His expression darkened with fury as he saw his old adversary.
Gu Lan stopped a hundred paces away and mockingly spoke. "It's been months, and your strength is still as pathetic as ever."
The words infuriated Arthur. "Last time you left me severely injured, but I won't let you off today."
His anger was palpable as he ordered his hundred subordinates to attack. They were powerful, but still far weaker than Gu Lan.
Gu Lan raised the Hongmeng Sword to the sky, and a loud, piercing sound filled the air as the sword's aura swept across the battlefield. The energy was so intense that it made the very heavens tremble.
Though Arthur's subordinates were fast, they were quickly caught in the blade's light.
"Screech… screech…"
In an instant, the sword left deep gashes on their bodies. The lights eventually dissipated, revealing the hundreds of injured figures, their swords and shields broken, barely standing.
Gu Lan looked coldly at the fallen warriors, his sword still humming with power.
"If they're foolish enough to continue, they'll only meet death. But you and I, we're about to settle things."
Gu Lan had no interest in further engaging with these warriors, and he spoke only to provoke Arthur. He wanted to see how strong Arthur really was—and, most importantly, to draw out whoever was secretly supporting him.
Arthur's fury reached a boiling point, and he summoned a blade of shining gold, slashing directly at Gu Lan.
"Today, I settle the score with you!" Arthur roared as he attacked.
His sword came with tremendous force, but Gu Lan's response was swift. The attack didn't even come close to landing, as Gu Lan's overwhelming aura shattered Arthur's blade before it could reach him.
Arthur attempted another strike, but it was too late. Gu Lan moved faster and pierced Arthur's shoulder with a single, deadly blow. The force of the strike sent Arthur flying back over a hundred paces, leaving him disoriented.
Staring back at Gu Lan, Arthur's expression was filled with deep suspicion. He had underestimated Gu Lan's growth. Had Gu Lan not been so prepared, that blow might have taken his life.
But Gu Lan wasn't done. He pressed the attack, charging toward Arthur with the Hongmeng Sword raised high.
Arthur, realizing the dire situation, turned and fled. He knew he couldn't face Gu Lan head-on without facing certain death.
Arthur's speed was impressive, but Gu Lan was relentless in his pursuit. Within moments, he closed the gap.
"You think you can escape?" Gu Lan's voice carried a mocking tone as he unleashed another strike.
The heavens themselves seemed to shake with the power of the attack, and under its pressure, Arthur was gravely injured. He stumbled back a thousand paces, coughing up blood, his face pale.
"Gu Lan, I warn you, don't be foolish," Arthur spat, his voice filled with venom.
"If I die today, you will die too."
Gu Lan's expression showed clear disdain. "You know my temper well enough. Do you really think you can threaten me?"
"I've heard you have powerful backers. If they don't show themselves soon, you won't have a chance."
The Hongmeng Sword was covered in a layer of blood-red light as Gu Lan activated his Blood Demon Kung Fu. The aura that enveloped him was overwhelming, and Arthur's face twisted in fear.
Retreating a few steps, Arthur issued another order to his men.
"Attack! Kill him!"
Although Arthur's subordinates were reluctant, they were forced to obey his command. Their hesitation was clear as they gathered their strength and cautiously approached Gu Lan.
Gu Lan regarded them coldly, not even sparing them a glance. "Stay away, or you will all perish without a grave."
A single glance from Gu Lan was enough to send them all stumbling back, their fear apparent in their eyes.
