My Wife Turns Out to be an Empress of the Dynasty

Chapter 691: Be More Serious

As Gu Lan observed the expression on Mu Yuyan's face, he walked over and gave a faint smile.

"Don't worry, Lanyan Royal School will be fine!"

He had already arranged for powerful individuals to be stationed there. Even if some people wanted to turn against them and act, they would have to consider whether they had the strength to do so.

Mu Yuyan always trusted Gu Lan when it came to matters like this. Leaning against him, her face serious, she spoke softly.

"I also need to improve myself."

At these words, Gu Lan's eyes brightened, and a meaningful smile spread across his face.

"So early? Isn't that a bit too soon?"

Although he said this, his actions didn't stop. Mu Yuyan's face flushed with embarrassment, and she quickly added.

"Be serious, I mean I may need to break through soon."

Gu Lan was greatly surprised. He hadn't noticed this for the past few days and had thought that everything was just as usual.

"This is a good thing. If you need anything, just speak up!"

"I need to borrow Linglong Pagpda, and I also need some Rule Power."

Gu Lan immediately agreed without hesitation, without any dragging of feet.

Both of these items were within his reach, and since it was for Mu Yuyan, he could easily provide them.

Without further conversation, the Linglong Pagpda appeared in his hand, and he injected the Rule of Five Elements into it. His movements were swift, and seeing this, Mu Yuyan didn't hesitate. She immediately entered the Linglong Pagpda.

Breaking through couldn't be delayed. Even if the improvement was small, it would still be useful later.

The breakthrough would take quite a while. During this time, Gu Lan's focus was split between monitoring any activity inside the Linglong Pagpda and improving himself.

His methods of self-improvement were simple. He could use any means to elevate his strength.

After a few dozen days, when he opened his eyes again, there was something unusual inside the Linglong Pagpda. Mu Yuyan was surrounded by a golden aura. The Rule of Five Elements, including her body, had grown exponentially in power, many times stronger than before.

Although the power was intense, Mu Yuyan's face showed signs of pain, and her energy seemed to be changing slightly.

Seeing this, Gu Lan's heart tightened. The Rule of Five Elements was too powerful; Mu Yuyan might not be able to control it properly.

He hadn't intended for her to absorb the Rule of Five Elements; he had only meant for it to strengthen his own abilities.

Now, he had to extract the Rule of Five Elements carefully. If he wasn't cautious, it could cause harm to Mu Yuyan.

With this thought, Gu Lan's internal energy surged, and he raised his hand. The Rule of Five Elements inside the Linglong Pagpda slowly began to flow toward his palm.

As the power dissipated, Mu Yuyan's expression finally eased.

Seeing that his actions were effective, Gu Lan felt a weight lift off his chest. He was fortunate to have noticed the situation in time; otherwise, things might have turned out much worse, and he wouldn't have been able to control it.

Just as Gu Lan was finishing absorbing the energy, someone approached the palace from outside. It was Zhongren.

"Greetings, Senior Brother!" Zhongren greeted him.

"When did you arrive?" Gu Lan asked. He had heard that Zhongren was returning soon, but hadn't expected him to show up just now.

"I just arrived."

"Perfect timing," Gu Lan said with a slight smile. "I actually have something to ask of you."

"Simu has improved recently, but her strength is still lacking. I hope you can go and help her out."

Zhongren was taken aback but didn't hesitate. He quickly nodded in agreement.

"I'll go see her now."

He had been missing Gu Simu for a while and wanted to verify his earlier predictions. He trusted his Qimen Dunjia calculations and believed they wouldn't be wrong.

Gu Lan felt at ease with Zhongren handling it. He was competent, and Gu Lan knew that his actions were reliable. Just as Zhongren turned to leave, Gu Lan called out.

"By the way, there's one more thing. Keep an eye on Lanyan Royal School. There may be some changes soon. Let the disciples compete!"

The Competition of Myriads of Clans hadn't ended yet, and it wouldn't do to have all the disciples remain in the Lanyan Royal School. If they stayed there too long, it would hinder their progress and also make them targets for outsiders.

Upon hearing Gu Lan's words, Zhongren's face grew serious. After a moment of contemplation, he replied.

"I was planning on having Simu come with me, but I may need to borrow a few items from you."

Gu Lan raised an eyebrow, confused. However, he trusted Zhongren, so he didn't say anything and gestured for him to continue.

Zhongren didn't waste time and continued.

"I need a few low-grade treasures. I know you have many Spirit Fruits and other items."

If they wanted to motivate the disciples, they needed enough incentives.

Though these were low-grade treasures, they would be more than enough for the disciples, considering the large number of them at Lanyan Royal School. Not all of them had these resources.

Gu Lan didn't hesitate. The moment Zhongren finished speaking, he retrieved all the treasures he had collected. These items were mostly low-grade treasures obtained from Ding True Man and were of no use to him.

Handing them over to Zhongren, Gu Lan didn't linger. Zhongren nodded, took the items, and quickly left.

Zhongren soon arrived at the training ground. Seeing that Gu Simu was still practicing, he smiled faintly and stepped forward.

Upon seeing him, Gu Simu's face lit up with excitement. She quickly put away her Hammer of Evergreen Pine.

"Uncle Zhongren!"

"You've improved quite a bit in the past few dozen days!" Zhongren said, a bit surprised.

Gu Simu, not one to be modest, puffed out her chest proudly and replied, "Of course. I've been personally guided by my father."

Zhongren didn't respond to her pride and instead shifted the conversation.

"I need to head to Lanyan Royal School. Will you come with me?"

If it were anyone else, he would have ordered them, but since Gu Simu was an oddball, he asked for her opinion first.

"Of course, I'll go with you! I've been stuck here for too long!" Gu Simu replied, a bit exasperated. She had been stuck in this training realm for several dozen days, and she was beginning to get bored. She had originally wanted to go alone, but Gu Lan wouldn't allow it.

Since Zhongren had made the invitation, she figured it would be fine. If Gu Lan blamed her, it was Zhongren's idea anyway.

Zhongren smiled and nodded. Without hesitation, they both adjusted their energy and leapt into the air.

Lanyan Royal School wasn't far from Jing Nation's imperial city, so they arrived in no time. However, because of the protective formation around it, no one knew who had arrived. The first person to notice was Ding True Man, who had been stationed there by Gu Lan. He had expected it to be an easy task but was surprised when someone arrived so soon.

His energy flared as he leapt into the sky. At the same time, his aura fully emerged.

"Who dares to intrude on my Lanyan—"

Before he could finish his sentence, his eyes widened in shock, and he stared at Gu Simu.

His demeanor immediately changed from tense to respectful as he walked forward.

"Ah, it's you, little princess. Why didn't you announce your arrival?"
