Chapter 500: Life Origin
Collecting the materials for the Origin Pill wasn't easy, but Gu Lan granted General Li Xiong substantial authority to collect them in the name of Lanyan Royal School. With spirit stones not being an issue, this should expedite the process. Given Lanyan Royal School's current rise, most forces in the Six Realms would give them some leeway.
Even if someone from the Immortal Realm's seven great Houses was displeased, they'd likely resort to covert actions rather than direct confrontation for the time being.
Once the Great Competition of All Clans' rewards were distributed, Gu Lan didn't linger in the 33rd Sky of Divine Realm. After spending some time bidding farewell to the God's Reign Sect, Beast Clan, and others, he took Mu Yuyan and his faction to the Snow Clan Ruins.
Gu Lan's immediate plan was to establish a small-scale inter-realm teleportation array outside the Snow Clan Ruins. Once this was set up, Earthly Realm's array masters would be brought in to construct a large-scale teleportation array. While setting up the arrays was not particularly difficult for Gu Lan, it was time-consuming.
He left a clone to handle this task while he and Mu Yuyan went to train at the Sacred Mountain and start preparing the first batch of new Snow Clan members.
The remaining Lanyan Royal School disciples were assigned to train around the Snow Clan Ruins, with instructions to report any unusual occurrences. Despite the apparent dangers of the ruins, Gu Lan and Mu Yuyan had everything under control, and the disciples' training was not expected to encounter major issues unless they faltered in their cultivation.
"Joey!"
Upon arriving at the core space of the Sacred Mountain, Mu Yuyan called out, and a fluffy, round little creature immediately came running out.
Cheep cheep! Cheep cheep!
The Spiritual Creature of Nine Skies let out an excited cry, raising its short little paws and quickly pouncing into Mu Yuyan's embrace, acting like a little furball in sheer delight.
It was evident that it was genuinely very happy to see Mu Yuyan.
As soon as the Spiritual Creature of Nine Skies appeared, several snow-white light orbs flickered in the air where it had materialized, seemingly yearning for something while also showing signs of fear.
Gu Lan had already noticed the few Snow Elves and understood that they were afraid of him, as he didn't carry much of the Snow Clan's aura.
Thus, he completely retracted his own presence.
The newly born Snow Elves were still somewhat naive. Once they realized that the frightening aura had vanished, they immediately became excited, mimicking the Spiritual Creature of Nine Skies and flying toward Mu Yuyan.
The aura radiating from Mu Yuyan made them feel incredibly close and at ease.
"One, two, three, four!"
"The Sacred Mountain gave birth to four of them, it's much more faster than I've expected! Seems like we're ready to nurture the Snow Clan!"
As the Snow Elves approached, a smile spread across Mu Yuyan's face.
She extended her fair finger and gently touched the light orb surrounding the snow sprite. In response, a tiny finger emerged from within the orb, meeting Mu Yuyan's fingertip in a gentle touch.
In an instant, a brilliant glow erupted, causing the light orb around the snow sprite to vanish and revealing a small figure resembling an elf.
Once the figure appeared, its large eyes sparkled with joy. It wrapped its tiny hands around Mu Yuyan's fingertip and gracefully danced in the palm of her hand.
"So cute!"
Mu Yuyan's heart nearly melted. Using the same method, she dispelled the light surrounding the other three Snow Elves. Then, she gently let go of Joey and cupped the four Snow Elves in her palms. A snowflake mark appeared on her brow, radiating an icy blue light.
The four Snow Elves bathed in this blue light, and beneath each, a spell array appeared in the form of a snowflake. They began to receive a portion of the Snow Clan's legacy. With this inheritance, they would soon be able to foster a new generation of Snow Clan beings around the Sacred Mountain.
As beings of pure energy, the Snow Elves needed a relatively long time to absorb this legacy. Nearby, Joey watched eagerly, wanting to cuddle up to Mu Yuyan, but was instead scooped up by Gu Lan, who gently stroked the smooth fur of the small, fluffy ball.
"Chirp, chirp!"
Joey, though reluctant, didn't resist. It knew well the power Gu Lan wielded.
"After all this time of training, how come you haven't put on any weight? Have you been slacking off? Did you take good care of the Snow Elves? Did you bully them? Speak up!"
Joey whined, trying to call for Mu Yuyan's help, but its pleas went unheard as Gu Lan continued his 'interrogation.'
After six hours, the ritual concluded. The four Snow Elves, now more vibrant and intelligent, flew out of the Sacred Mountain's core space. They found ice saplings on the Sacred Mountain and used mysterious spells to form special arrays around them, which glowed and absorbed the surrounding icy spiritual energy. Soon, the saplings grew into small snowballs.
"Snow Clan's birth from the heavens is truly wondrous!"
As Gu Lan emerged with Joey in his arms, he happened to witness this scene. Though he had encountered countless powerful beings who had ascended to spirit, celestial, demon, or even demonic status, it was his first time seeing elemental beings in their earliest forms. Even in Divine Realm, he couldn't help but marvel at the wonders of nature's creation.
In that moment, he sensed a unique source power: the power of life itself. Seizing the opportunity, Gu Lan closed his eyes to immerse himself in this newfound insight. Joey remained cradled in his arms, perfectly still. Enveloped in the potent vitality emanating from Gu Lan, it felt a deep comfort, rubbed against him contentedly, and soon fell asleep.
Watching all this unfold, Mu Yuyan couldn't help but smile in mixed amusement. She chose not to leave; instead, she activated the nearby protective array and stood guard beside him.
Meanwhile, the Snow Elves continued cultivating the budding snow tribe, and Gu Lan focused on absorbing the essence of life itself. In the spirit ring, the Nine-Winged Dragon gazed on, a glint of greed in its eyes. Its own strength was yet to fully recover, and the powerful life force radiating from Gu Lan was exactly what it needed.
Yet, it dared not make a single move, as Gu Lan's aura in this state was even more formidable than when he had subdued it.
The power of life essence is ever-present in the world, yet it remains one of the most elusive sources of strength for those of divine rank. A god who has comprehended the essence of life could, in theory, achieve near-immortality, untouched by time—so long as they avoided entanglement with karma. But even in ancient times, gods who truly grasped the power of life were exceedingly rare.
Time passed by steadily. The Snow Elves' tiny spheres gradually grew, each brimming with increasingly vibrant life energy.
