"I said, why are you being so competitive?!" Alice exclaimed. "Is a plushie like this something someone your 'age' should be playing with? You're impossible!"

Renz put his coin in. He first wanted to test the establishment's "conscience." Often, winning a claw machine game doesn't depend solely on personal skill, but on the owner's generosity. For example, the first time Renz tried to win a plushie for Erina, he was completely ripped off by the machine. If the owner hadn't noticed how much money Renz had spent trying to get just one plushie, and simply opened the box to give him one, Renz might have spent even more time.

Later, Renz looked up claw machine tricks online and learned that the claw's grip strength could be manipulated. If the grip was too weak, it was very difficult to pick up a plushie, even with skill. If the grip was weak, even if you hooked the plushie on the first try, it would drop mid-air as the strength faded.

He decided to try three times first to test the claw machine's grip strength. If there was an issue, he'd directly ask the owner to buy the plushie. Renz wasn't a vain person; if he knew there was a problem, he wouldn't waste money trying to win.

He adjusted the angle. The first key to a claw machine: grab the plushie closest to the drop-off hole. If it's too far, it's easy for it to loosen and drop. Grabbing a plushie closer to the hole, even with a slightly weak grip, would still work if you had a stable start.

He turned the joystick. The claw dropped. He judged the angle by eye, confirmed his target, and as the mechanical claw landed, it firmly grabbed a Pikachu plushie. The swaying claw carried the plushie into the drop-off hole.

One shot, one kill. Although Renz had considerable experience with claw machines, getting it on the first try not only depended on that experience but also on the owner's conscience. Clearly, this owner was quite conscientious. The grip was very stable. Renz reached into the drop-off slot to retrieve the plushie.

"Here," Renz handed the Pikachu plushie to Erina. "Next, it's Alice's turn for a plushie."

Erina took the plushie. While not entirely satisfied, she had settled down, at least allowing Renz to try for others. When Alice saw the dropped Pikachu, she initially thought the first plushie would be given to her, as she had been the first to ask. She was about to reach for it, but then Renz bypassed her and gave it to Erina.

Her emotions exploded.

"I don't want it!" Alice pouted, her face stiff. "I can get my own plushie!" Why are you being so tsundere?! Do you think if you act tsundere, I'll give you the first plushie I win? Haven't you seen the big tsundere about to erupt like a volcano? Do you think I have a death wish?

"If you don't want it, then don't," Renz said, showing no intention of trying to please Alice. He didn't know who spoiled her, but the current Alice liked to give attitude at the drop of a hat, just like Erina used to. Renz, in any case, wouldn't indulge it.

"Then I'll just get one more plushie for Mashiro and one for Secretary-tan," Renz said honestly.

"I get one too?" Hisako Arato was startled.

"You don't want one?" Renz retorted. He thought he shouldn't show favoritism. Erina, Alice, and Mashiro all got one. Wouldn't it be too pitiful to ignore Hisako? After all, she was his wife's personal secretary.

Hisako saw Erina, Mashiro, and Alice each wanting one. Too embarrassed to trouble Renz for another, Hisako deliberately kept quiet, subconsciously trying to hide her presence. She didn't expect Renz to notice her.

"If there's time, I'd like one too, but if you can't get it, then it's fine," Hisako said, bowing her head. Secretary-tan was as polite as ever.

Hearing this, Renz continued to play the claw machine. Beside him, Alice simultaneously launched her own offensive on the adjacent claw machine. Alice was indeed being stubborn with Renz. She had initially thought Renz would humor her and give in a little, but unexpectedly, when she said she didn't want it, Renz didn't try to win one for her. Now, asking for a plushie again would make Alice seem spineless. She still cared about her pride.

Heh. Well, this is a good chance to try out the claw machine. Alice's plushies at home were all bought directly. She had never tried to win one from a claw machine like this. Seeing how easily Renz won a plushie, Alice inserted a coin into the other machine. She wanted to win a plushie herself. Winning one with her own hands would definitely give her a sense of accomplishment. With this thought, Alice began her attempt.

This Erina-sama had never encountered this kind of street-culture-like game before. A novice who had never played before always had blind confidence. Even with a conscientious owner, they couldn't withstand a reckless newbie trying to mess things up. Alice's choice of plushies was always odd; she either wanted to grab ones far away or ones directly in the center.

She failed three or four times in a row, but Alice still didn't give up. She had money and didn't care about these few failures. Keep trying!

"Snorlax!" Alice slammed the button on the claw machine. "Come out!" The mechanical claw touched the blue and white Snorlax in the middle and slowly lifted it. Alice's face already showed a triumphant expression. Someone like that Erina needs someone else to win plushies for her. I'm doing it myself, one step at a time!

Thinking this, the suspended mechanical claw suddenly loosened, and Snorlax fell back down, not landing in the hole. Instead, it hit the wall of the hole and bounced back inside.

"How can this happen?!" Alice was practically banging on the claw machine's glass. What is this?! The plushie was right within reach, and it just went back in?

Alice fumbled around, realizing she had no more coins to insert.

"Alice, we're heading back now," Erina said from beside her. Whether it was a cognitive bias or not, Alice felt that Erina was deliberately showing off the Pikachu plushie in her hand.

"No, I'm not leaving! I want to keep playing! Does anyone have any coins they can lend me?" Alice's temper flared up, and she yelled.

"I have four," Renz said, spreading the coins in his hand. Alice grabbed them, inserted them, and continued to challenge the claw machine. Her mind was in chaos. Her joystick control was chaotic as well. She suffered another painful defeat.

"Only three left now," Erina said with a small smile, her pink lips pursed. She narrowed her eyes. Her satisfaction meter was full. Watching her sister fluster and get disoriented was too entertaining.

"Don't mess with my head, you jerk! If you annoy me again, I'll steal your boyfriend!" Alice glared fiercely at Erina. With such ferocious words, she wanted to see if Erina would still be so smug.
