My Watch System

Chapter 16: Love

Kitsune appeared with her mischievous smile and a sparkle of mischief in her eyes. Around her, a crowd of animals had gathered, and a celebration was just beginning. The animals began to jump and dance in celebration, creating an atmosphere of pure joy. Kitsune walked over to where Mike stood, her smile widening.

Without hesitation, she grabbed his shirt and lifted him off the ground as though he were a child. Mike had no time to react before she spoke, a mixture of reproach and affection in her voice:

"You really are something, Mike… What you did was heroic, but also very foolish," she said, her playful tone not hiding the concern beneath. Then, with a quick movement, she pulled him into a tight hug, "I'm so glad you're alive."

The monk's calm demeanor remained, but his words carried a weight that immediately captured Mike's attention. He stepped closer, his gaze serious.

Mike, still a little stunned by Kitsune's actions, let out a soft laugh. For a few moments, he remained there, in the embrace of the creature, feeling protected as if nothing else mattered. He smiled, a little proud of the victory, and even though he was still tired, his energy seemed renewed. The worry and weight of the battle felt distant now.

The monk, who had been observing the scene with a serene gaze, paused before speaking in his calm, deep voice:

"Mike," he began, "I believe you've realized that you won't be able to use that power too many times, you understand, yes?"

The kid, still smiling while Kitsune hugged him, responded confidently: "Yes, it doesn't belong to me. It was just borrowed… But rest assured, I'll create my own power." He pulled away slightly from Kitsune, who looked at him with a look of approval, though her eyes still held that touch of amusement.

"You'll need more than just power, Mike," Kitsune said, her voice soft but filled with wisdom. "But I realy trust you. Just be careful of the path you choose."

"Mike," the monk said, his voice firm, "you can only use that power three more times. After that, your body won't be able to handle it. I'm not sure what will happen, but it will be painful... a slow, cruel death. And i dont wanna this for you my friend"

Mike sad "I got it" but Mike's stomach tightened as the monk's warning settled over him. It was a stark reminder that the power he'd relied on wasn't without its consequences.

Mike nodded, determined. The monk smiled, as though knowing Mike was ready to face whatever was necessary to move forward. The world around them was calm again, but the future remained uncertain, and Mike knew that this victory was only the beginning of something much greater.

The animal celebration was in full swing. The sounds of laughter, dancing, and shouts of joy echoed across the field as the moon began to rise in the sky, casting its soft and mysterious light upon the scene. Every creature seemed more alive than ever, as though the energy from the victory had spread to everyone around.

Kitsune turned to the center of the celebration, where a group of small animals had formed a circle, dancing around a campfire. She turned to Mike and the monk, winking mischievously.

"Come on, come on! Let's celebrate like there's no tomorrow uhuu!" she shouted, giggling. Mike, still basking in the warmth of the hug and the relief, glanced at the monk, who merely smiled serenely and gave a subtle approving gesture.

"Let's go," Mike replied, now more confident. He could feel the energy in the air, as if the fun was taking over his entire being. He joined the others, feeling lighter, as though he had finally found a moment of peace amidst so many challenges.

The animals continued to dance, some leaping and others forming mystical shapes around the fire. Kitsune completely gave herself to the dance, while Mike tried to keep up with her, laughing at himself when he tripped and almost fell, but quickly recovering, the energy of the moment filling him with a simple, yet genuine joy.

Meanwhile, the monk remained silent, observing the surrounding field. He seemed deep in thought, but with a subtle smile on his face. Occasionally, he looked at Mike, as if he knew the young man was about to face something much deeper than he realized.

"This is the balance you need, Mike," the monk said, finally breaking the silence. "The lightness of the celebration, the simple joy, the connection with nature... When you find this, you'll know you're ready for the next step."

Mike looked at the monk, thoughtful, then turned to Kitsune, who was now balancing on one paw, a gleam of mischief in her eyes. He smiled, feeling that, despite the dangers ahead, he was surrounded by powerful allies and that, somehow, he would find his way.

Kitsune pulled him back into the dance, their laughter mixing with the music of the night. They danced together, without worries, without hurrying for the celebration to end. In that moment, everything seemed possible, and Mike knew that, though the future was uncertain, he was no longer alone.

And so, the trio remained at the celebration, dancing, laughing, and celebrating what was to come.

By the end of the night, everyone was exhausted from all the celebration. All the animals were lying on the ground, and Mike lay on his hammock, gazing up at the sky, deep in thought about the future.

Kitsune, who had been the center of the party, now walked silently over to him. Her light steps made no sound, and she seemed to have left behind her mischievous smile, now wearing a gentler expression. She stopped near the hammock and watched Mike for a moment, as if she was a part of all of it.

Mike, unaware, glanced to the side and saw her. She was different now, calmer than he had seen her before. Her gaze no longer carried that playful intensity, but a softness that made something curious stir in his chest.

"Can I lie down with you?" Kitsune asked almost shyly, an expression on her face that he hadn't expected. Her voice was soft, low, as if she were asking for something more personal, more intimate.

Mike fell silent for a moment, surprised by the question. It wasn't just about lying down next to him; there was something more in the air, something he couldn't quite identify. He took a deep breath and nodded, gesturing for her to join him.

Kitsune smiled softly and lay down beside him, her body relaxed, but her presence still striking. She didn't speak, but the energy between them was different now. They lay there, side by side in the hammock, under the starry sky, in silence, but the proximity between them seemed to speak louder than words ever could.

The boy's heart raced; he could feel it pounding strongly in his chest. He couldn't describe the feeling—his mind was a whirlwind—but he knew he truly liked what he was feeling.

"Am I in love? And why did she make that request? Well, after everything we've been through, I really don't mind," he thought.

Kitsune then spoke softly, breaking the comfortable silence between them. "You think too much, boy. You should lighten that weight on your shoulders, but somehow, I think I like it."

She turned her head slightly to look at him, her eyes now filled with an unexpected softness.

Mike looked back at her, surprised by the sincerity in her words. He didn't know what she saw in him, but he felt a lightness in his heart, as if, in that moment, he had found something he didn't know he was looking for.

"I… really think too much. I'm always worried about everyone's well-being," he replied with a smile. "But maybe you're right, I should set this weight aside for a while."

Kitsune let out a soft, satisfied laugh, almost as if this moment was something she had been waiting for a long time. She closed her eyes, and for a moment, Mike had the feeling that they were simply there, in the same space, without haste, without expectations, just accepting the present.

The silence between them returned, but it was a comfortable silence. Kitsune then moved closer to Mike, almost as if hugging him, and then he truly understood.

"My god, I'm so in love," the boy thought, reaching this conclusion.

Mike then quietly looked to the side and saw Kitsune, her eyes closed, fast asleep. He thought again, "Does she like me too? No, I don't think so. She likes to tease me."

After some time, reflecting, Mike surrendered to the fatigue and fell asleep on the ground next to his friend.

And so, under the starry sky, Mike and Kitsune remained there, sharing a peaceful silence. Mike felt as though he were in heaven, content with the present and eager for the future.
