Chapter 36: Departure
A helicopter marked with an American flag and Self-Defense Force personnel gathered at the hospital. Patients and hospital staff looked out the window to see what was going on. In no time, supplies were piled up. Then, several helicopters flew away.
Once they were all put together at the Self-Defense Forces base, they were loaded onto large airplanes.
I don't know for sure, but this action itself caught everyone's attention. It sure was quite flashy.
"That's my brother! He sure works fast."
I was satisfied and reported to the chairman and the director of the hospital.
"It's done!"
*...But there was no reply?*
"Director! Are you listening to me? It's over!”
“....did Dr. Marc do this in every country until now?"
The Chairman asked, instead of the Director who remained silent.
“Yes! We get a lot of supplies after my lectures thankfully!"
“I see...."
The two of them had a complicated look on their face, as opposed to my smiling one. I knew what they were thinking.
*“Who in the world is he? Who can move the Military of another country and even our own Self-Defense Forces...."*
My brother Mikey was in charge of the American military. He was the boss behind the scenes. He was also the scariest of all my brothers when he got angry. Now that father's whereabouts were unknown, he was the one we could count on. He also had friends in the Japanese Ministry of Defense. So, it was easy to move the Self-Defense Forces.
“Dr. Marc is amazing!”
I heard a voice from somewhere, and applause rang out. I was surrounded by everyone.
“Sensei! You’re wonderful!”
It seems that they knew I was making a move.
*…Kazuya…*
The window of the private room in the special room was open and the curtains were swinging. I could see his grinning face.

And then came the day of Yuki's departure.
"Did you forget something? There are no convenience stores there. And water is really precious, so you won't be able to take a bath for days, don't cry ok." I assured her.
“I'm ready. And I'm not the only one there, so I don't mind.”
“That's all right then. If you have any trouble, call me. I'm sure you, who hates bugs, will think bugs are cute by the time you come back.”
I laughed when I said that.
“That's all you have to say to your girlfriend whom you won't see for a while?"
She pretended to sulk and turned her head to the side. I caught Yuki's arm and pulled her into a hug.
“I'm an idiot. Of course I'm going to miss you.”
I kissed the fang marks from last night.
“This time it's six months because it's a testing period. There is no set time frame, so if you want to come back, you can."
“I don't want to. I'm not coming back. I'm going to work hard for six months!"
She said that and showed that precious smile.
I saw Yuki off as she was leaving the country. I really want to go with her!
I can't let her see me like that! But I’m afraid I’m going to be more upset than her.
*Loneliness…is this what I feel…?*"
