Chapter 8: Chapter 8 - Cultivation, Rankings, and Olivia Being OP Again
Chapter 8 - Cultivation, Rankings, and Olivia Being OP Again
Mara remained silent for a moment before deciding not to press further. She didn't want to make Althea uncomfortable. Instead, she squeezed Althea's hands gently, showing her silent support.
"If you're not ready to talk about it, I won't ask anymore," Mara said with a small smile.
Althea exhaled in relief. "Thanks, Mara. It's not that I don't want to tell you, it's just... humiliating, and it's a family matter."
Mara nodded in understanding but couldn't help thinking, This only makes me more curious. Even so, she respected Althea's privacy and let it go for now.
They resumed their meal, the air growing lighter between them. After finishing, they cleaned up together before naturally drifting into a conversation about their cultivation progress and future goals.
"Althea, you're close to breaking through, right? Your Primordial Force is nearing its limit. How about your Ascendant Core? Does it feel like it's reaching a new threshold?" Mara asked curiously. She herself was still working tirelessly to refine her core, but she hadn't felt any signs of an impending breakthrough yet.
Althea smirked. "Let me enlighten you." She cleared her throat dramatically, enjoying the teasing. "Ahem, ahem. It's not as easy as you think, dear Mara."
Mara rolled her eyes. "Oh, come on."
Althea chuckled. "You know, I used to be lazy, thinking I was already at the top of the world. But reality hit me hard. Without effort, even the greatest talent is useless."
Mara nodded in agreement. Cultivation required patience and perseverance. Even among gods, many stagnated in the Primal Nexus Realm for eternity, unable to progress because of weak foundations or fear of the next step. The Inferno Realm was a brutal trial—failure meant death by disintegration.
Althea leaned forward. "Right now, I can feel an opportunity to break through, but after examining my Ascendant Core, I know I can refine it further. If I rush, my success rate will drop, and I might limit my future potential. So, I'm holding back until I reach my absolute peak."
Mara's eyes widened in realization. "That makes sense… If the foundation is solid, the advancement will be smoother."
"Exactly," Althea nodded. "If we push too soon, we might regret it later."
Mara absorbed this lesson carefully. She had been considering rushing her own breakthrough, but now she understood the importance of patience.
Their conversation naturally shifted to other topics.
"By the way, Althea, what's your rank on the Primordial Youth Rankings?" Mara asked. "I heard even those who haven't advanced get rewards."
Althea thought for a moment. "Last I checked, I was around 180,037. I haven't been making much progress until recently, but once I reach the Inferno Realm, I should be able to push into the top 50,000."
Mara's jaw nearly dropped. Top 50,000?! That was a monumental leap. She had forgotten that this ranking wasn't just for the God Realm—it included geniuses from the Demon Realm, Spirit Realm, Underworld, and even the Human Realm.
Mara fell into thought. Especially the Human Realm… A flicker of nostalgia crossed her eyes before she quickly suppressed it.
Back in the 18th HeavenThe recent chaos had finally settled, but within the grand halls of their celestial home, Ella and Olivia remained asleep.
It had been a full week since the incident, and yet the twin sisters showed no signs of waking. To outsiders, such prolonged slumber might seem unnatural, but in the God Realm, it was a normal phenomenon for those undergoing rapid growth.
Inside the meeting chamber, Jade and Yula were reviewing documents. Though their bodies never tired, their minds were exhausted from the repetitive administrative work.
"Jade, what do you think?" Yula asked, her voice calm.
Jade looked up in confusion. "What do you mean?"
Yula frowned slightly. "About the resources Ella and Olivia will need for their future growth."
Jade leaned back in his chair, finally understanding. "I know. But you've noticed it too, right? Their strength is rising at an insane rate. We need to start preparing a quota for the Ascension Tower—it'll be a huge boost for them." His voice carried excitement. He had been planning for this moment, ready to invest a fortune in his daughters' future.
Yula's expression softened. "Arrange it tomorrow."
Jade nodded, but then added, "Before that, I think they should observe some sparring matches. If they're interested, they can participate. It'll help deepen their foundation."
Yula hesitated. "They're only a month old."
"I know," Jade chuckled. "That's why we won't rush. We'll let them enjoy their childhood for ten years, then start their training slowly over the next twenty. If they want to spar, they can—but we won't force them."
Yula thought for a moment before agreeing. She adored her daughters too much to push them unnecessarily. Still, she had no idea just how monstrous their talents would become.
Three Days LaterElla finally woke up.
She blinked groggily, adjusting to the dim light of the room. To her, it felt like only a day had passed. As she turned, she saw Olivia still snoring beside her, her peaceful expression making Ella chuckle softly.
Vivi is so cute, she thought warmly, gently brushing Olivia's cheek.
However, as she observed her twin, her brows suddenly furrowed. A faint pure white aura radiated from Olivia's body.
What in the world…?
Ella's heart pounded as she extended her senses. In mere days, Olivia's Ascendant Core had nearly caught up to hers.
How?!
Not only had her core expanded, but the density of her Primordial Force had skyrocketed. Ella couldn't believe it.
With rising confusion, she turned to the System.
"System, what's going on? How did Vivi grow this much just by sleeping?"
A familiar ding sounded.
[Olivia has made everyone kneel, and her growth is a result of her contributions.]
[Current Kneeling Points: 2,500]
[Required Kneeling Points for System Upgrade: 5,000]
Ella froze. Kneeling Points?
Then it clicked.
Oh. Right… that skill.
She immediately felt a headache coming. What the hell has Vivi been doing?!
But more importantly—
"System, did our parents get offended?"
If Olivia had really forced others to kneel, including Jade and Yula, it could have serious consequences. She knew how terrifyingly powerful even Primal Nexus Realm cultivators were. If their Horizon Realm parents were angered, they wouldn't stand a chance.
The System answered instantly.
[Your mother's current favorable impression of you and Olivia: 98%.]
[Your father's current favorable impression: 96%.]
Ella let out a deep breath.
So… they're not mad?
But even as relief washed over her, a strange unease settled in her chest.
She turned to Olivia again, watching the steady rise and fall of her breathing. The pure white aura around her twin felt almost sacred—undeniably powerful. Too powerful.
A thought struck her, sharp and unsettling.
What if she surpasses me?
Ella clenched her fists. The idea alone made her chest tighten. Her obsession with protecting Olivia ran too deep—so deep that the mere thought of being weaker than her was terrifying.
She had always seen herself as Olivia's shield, her guardian, the one who would stand in front of her no matter what.
But now… if Olivia became stronger than her…
Then who would protect whom?
