My Trash Talent Is Actually OP!

Chapter 71: Banished Dragon [1]

Velcrest International Academy was located in the north, miles away from Velcrest. One would travel through forests and deserts to get there if going by road.

But with developing technology, flight was an option, both with planes and for those who had abilities that let them move above ground.

Dragons were one of these people, as were those who could move from place to place using teleportation, though such movements consumed a lot of mana.

The city the academy was located in was Caer District, one of the many cities that had more humans than demi-humans or other races.

And for some reason, non-humans had to keep their true selves and abilities hidden, one of the reasons the academy was actually established there.

The president had long been aware of the existence of non-humans even before Velcrest was rebuilt, and of the sudden awakening of other humans lucky enough to possess mana that could be utilized, which was rare.

Mana itself wasn't easily usable by ordinary people. It rejected the average human body, which could not handle the effects tied to using mana.

Sometimes, it would corrode the body from within or burn it out completely, which was why most people died early without an explanation.

Only a small fraction of the population, those with specific genetic markers or latent spiritual thresholds... meaning believers.

And in rare cases, those cursed by gods, could survive the awakening and use mana effectively without dying of exhaustion or sudden mana depletion illnesses.

Those who awakened always fell under various classes, depending on what the mana within them focused on: combat, arcane, mythical, and legendary/rare classes.

Others remained dormant until triggered, or they'd die without awakening.

On the other hand, in Velcrest's case, as a result of past apocalypses, wars, and the new races that had appeared over the years…

Velcrest was actually a quarantine zone for people who gave off too much mana, yet couldn't use it, for example, a human emitting radiation that could kill.

Then the first Beast Tamer, General Arkanos, decided to help them. He created the first guilds: the Abnormals, Patriarch, and Wardens.

Wardens were for nature-based classes. Abnormals were for those with many abilities across different classes, and Patriarch was for Elves and combat classes.

That started the city, then the academy, and then the establishment of the organization that controlled all the guilds across ten cities.

Asher heaved a sigh, his eyes aching by the time he was done reading. He leaned back into his seat and flipped a mint into his mouth.

"You guys good there?" he asked, worried Naomi might cause trouble and end up being beaten to death by Nova. But they all replied that everything was fine.

Zero confirmed it as well with a nod before returning to her position behind him.

He then dropped his gaze back to the screen and continued reading.

The two academies were known worldwide—one for having incredibly outstanding students, and the other for being able to control students with abilities that could cause worldwide devastation and wars.

Like necromancers with subclasses... in one word, Asher. He was one of those students, but he wasn't going to apply.

Sinnett was one of them as well... however, he had rejected their offers multiple times, threatening to wipe out each generation across the world and get away with it.

Then they backed off. For someone who had only lived nineteen years, Asher had a lot of respect for him and his achievements, although they were dark.

He once read that Sinnett was there when his family was murdered, and he only chuckled and left the scene.

Back to the records.

VIA's headmaster was the little sister of Arkanos—another Beast Tamer, but on a universal level.

Asher scrolled and found a picture of a red-eyed woman, with dark, massive hair that fell behind her and stopped at her heels.

She was young, too young, but definitely older than he was. And she was beautiful. A striking resemblance to his mother… or was it Yumiko?

He shifted his gaze to the beast beside her, a cobra about her height, if not taller, with similar eyes. It didn't look exactly friendly.

Scrolling to the bottom, he saw Yumiko's picture, and under her name was "Organization Coordinator," and she was under the Abnormal Class.

"Strange," he thought, before scrolling further. Veylan's picture popped up, but he looked different. Instead of looking silently faced, drunk, and like he hadn't slept for days, he was in a full-body coat and a hat.

Behind him was a triple-blade scythe and massive sledge armor that Asher swore must have been heavy.

Asher stared at the picture, then sighed. "There's really a lot I don't know about these people."

Sinnett, who had been observing silently, finally spoke up. "You don't need to know everyone. You only need to know me and your family… the rest are not important."

"Says the bastard who would kill without care. Care to explain why you laughed after your parents died?"

Sinnett smiled warmly. "Did you expect me to cry?"

"They are your family. Forty-eight members of the Varrow family were murdered on their island, and you tell me that?" Asher said as he placed his laptop on the small desk before him.

He couldn't understand why Sinnett was that unbothered about it, and if he assumed correctly, the killer was very much alive, because even Sinnett hadn't written reports of the killer.

Just about how it ended, and how he'd been traveling, looking for heaven knows what.

Sinnett took a turn on the road, seeing as it was blocked, and into another before replying.

"Apparently, there were fifty of us, and I might be the last, but one body is missing… so tell me, why shouldn't I laugh?"

"They watched you grow up."

"Technically, yes. But it wasn't the best childhood. With all they did to me, I might have even killed them myself," he smirked and flashed a wink at Asher, who immediately threw him a disgusted look.

"You are incredibly sick. You might be a psychopath

....but not someone who'd kill his entire family."

Sinnett didn't reply. He only smiled, one that reached his eyes, and focused back on the road.

There was silence once again. The only sound that could be heard was the low chatter behind them, the RV's engine, and the tires on the road.

Asher stopped reading to breathe and think for a while, but then he caught something in the mirror, behind the RV.

A dark figure, gliding in the air behind the RV without a care in the world. He turned to check if it was Nova or Zero, but they were present in the van.

Then the red system screen appeared, giving him a count of the dragons in the pool, and the ones outside.

He quickly turned back to the mirror, and it was gone. Asher heaved a sigh, knowing he must have seen something.

"I should have eaten before leaving," he mumbled to himself and leaned back in the seat, only to see the figure beside the RV waving at him.

"Hm?" He squinted to see the face of the person, but there was nothing but darkness.

He frowned. "Sinnett, stop the van," he said, keeping his eyes on the figure. The moment Sinnett did, Asher pushed the door open and stepped out to confront the figure.

"Asher Morgan?"

"Yeah, that's me. What do you want?" he asked, totally fearless. He wasn't even fazed because he had seen more things scarier.

The shadow then smiled, revealing its teeth, then it pointed into the forest on the side of the road. "Some dragons were buried there. You would need to raise them too."

Asher's brows curved in confusion. "Seriously? I don't even know who you are."

The group stepped out of the van, mumbling questions, until they spotted the figure. Zero, who had recognized it, switched forms. She grew taller, more mature than her normal body.

Then her bow and arrow materialized in her hand. Before Asher could even stop her, she fired the first arrow, and unfortunately, it was stopped by an unseen force.

The figure growled lowly and slowly turned to her. "Dragon of the North..."

"Dragon... of the North?" Emma repeated, and all eyes went to Nova, except Cinder, Zero, Asher, and Sinnett.

Nova bit her lip, enraged, and pulled out two more arrows. Asher quickly moved to her side before she could release them. He placed his palms on the tips of the arrows and pushed them down.

"Calm down."

She moved her gaze between the shadow and Asher, then sighed out in defeat.

"What's wrong?"

"He's... a banished Dragon."

The shadow chuckled softly and slowly floated to Nova's side, then bowed. "It's an honour... I am Zain."

Asher stared for close to thirty seconds. Thoughts rushed through his mind multiple times, he didn't remember raising a dragon like Zain.

At least not among the other dragons, and he was certain there wasn't the soul of a dragon like him around.

He wanted to ask more questions, but Sinnett spoke up before he could.

"He's not lying, and he's not an undead, Asher. Not a raised one anyway," he stated and walked over to Zain's side. "Banished, huh? What's your crime?"

Zain smirked. "Unapproved mass annihilation. Two hundred years ago."
