My Trash Talent Is Actually OP!

Chapter 69: Successful Application: Mysterious Visitor

Emma fell into step behind Asher as he strolled out of the hall, casting one last worried glance toward the lecture hall.

Inside, Naomi's labored gasps and the faint scrape of her movement echoed, before she stepped out as well and took another way

She didn't even need to ask what happened. Just from seeing how dark Asher's gaze was and the way he didn't even look at her before walking off spoke volumes.

Sinnett whistled low under his breath as they moved through the halls.

"Man, you really got her to shut up this time," he said with a casual grin, swinging his locs back into place. "Two thigh shots? Cold. She is going to limping for days."

Asher didn't respond. He kept his gaze ahead, already thinking about what came next. Naomi wouldn't even be a problem now.

She'd do anything to maintain what she'd of dignity she had left, and although he was tempted to use her to fill up the requirements to unlock his other draconic abilities, he had to hold back and find someone suitable.

More importantly, she would follow his orders because she still had feelings or whatever it was she had for him, which was good

And he needed to get Emma into an academy out of the city, because it was too dangerous to leave her there, especially when she knew about his abilities.

It's not like he didn't trust her, he just didn't want to take chances, he could trust Tay because no one could treat him anyhow or threaten but Emma.....

She was too emotional unstable.

He thought of his missions, and the money he had with him. Then he thought of Sinnett, and his contributions, and the promises he made.

He wouldn't have to worry about funds which was good, so after a while he would return home to see his family, then go back and continue his mission.

Emma remained silent behind him, watching as he moved while being fat into his head. Her footsteps were quick but light that one wouldn't even notice her, due to her size.

And she was actually trying to forget what happened, like she hadn't been the reason another high ranking academy student was bleeding in a classroom.

But she was, and some part of her, deep down felt a sense of relief.

She was still afraid of Naomi no doubt. That fear didn't vanish with a few stab wounds, because Naomi won't take revenge on Asher.

She wouldn't dare, instead she'd corner her and do what Asher did to her, without remorse.

The fact Asher stood up for her to this point brought a smile to her lips, then she promised to make it up to him, no matter how little.

When they stepped out of the building, the sun was higher now, and the academy field was noisy. Students passed by them

When they stepped out of the building, the sun was higher now, and the academy courtyard buzzed with noise. Students passed by them without a second glance, caught up in their own worlds. Just another day.

Asher glanced to the left. A small group of fourth year students, clearly part of one of the internal guilds, lingered near a fountain, laughing. One of them caught his gaze, recognized him, and turned away quickly.

But then she quickly turned to take a look at him again, she let her pink eyes linger on him for a while, before he actually smiled and winked at her, before turning to leave.

From the corner of his eyes, he watched her cheeks turn pink as she whispered to her friend and pointed to Asher before they both squealed, causing to shake his head.

They made their way towards the administration building at the back of the academy grounds. It was smaller than the grand entrance halls but more secure, protected by wards and surveillance

A place where only those with clearance or purpose dared enter.

Sinnett tilted his head. "So, what's the plan now? We dragging Blondie back here to hand her applications in or what?"

"Not dragging," Asher replied, "She'll crawl if she has to."

Emma winced slightly at the mental image, but again, she didn't argue.

They entered the admin building, greeted by a pair of stern clerks who gave them a cursory glance before returning to their work.

Asher approached the front desk and gave the Naomi's name and her guild master's name, and then Veylan.

"I need access to two application entries," he said firmly. "One provisional. One full."

The clerk raised a brow but didn't question him. A few keystrokes later, two thin crystalline slates were produced from a drawer and handed to him. They shimmered faintly with enchantment, standard for official academy documentation.

"Good for twenty-four hours," the clerk said. "Then they disintegrate."

"More than enough," Asher replied, handing one to Emma.

"What about the other one?" she asked quietly.

"Naomi," he said simply.

Emma stiffened but didn't comment.

They left the admin building shortly after, returning toward the gate.

As they walked, Emma glanced sideways at him. "She's really going with us?"

"She is now."

"And... you trust her?"

"I don't," he said. "That's why I'm keeping her close."

Sinnett cracked a grin. "Nothing like a good' hostage in the squad, eh?"

Asher gave him a sidelong glare. "She's not a hostage. She's a resource. She gets you in. After that, we cut her loose if she becomes dead weight."

Emma nodded slowly, though the idea still clearly unsettled her.

By the time they returned to the front of the academy, the sky had shifted to a dull gold, early afternoon settling in, they hadn't even attended class yet it was afternoon.

Asher glanced toward the lecture hall, now quiet again. No Naomi in sight.

Sure enough, just as they reached the path leading to the main academy gate, a figure limped slowly toward them.

Naomi.

Her long blond hair was a tangled mess now, and her normally pristine uniform was wrinkled, slightly bloodied near the thighs. Her steps were unsteady, her face pale, but there was fire still flickering behind her tear-smeared eyes.

She stopped a few feet away, gaze flickering between the three of them.

"I'm here," she said hoarsely. "You said you needed me."

Asher tossed the second slate at her feet.

"You'll fill that out. Recommend Emma. Then you'll get your own spot as well. You'll be under our command for the international missions."

Naomi's lip curled, whether in pain or resentment wasn't clear. "Why the hell would I work for her? For you?"

Asher didn't flinch. "Because if you don't, I'll make what happened in that room feel like foreplay."

Sinnett coughed into his fist. "Kinda was, if you think about it."

Naomi picked up the slate, trembling fingers wrapping around it tightly. She said nothing else.

Asher turned.

"Three days. We leave for the International Academy after the transfer goes through."

He looked at Naomi over his shoulder. "Show up packed... or don't show up again at all."

And with that, he walked off down the road, the wind tugging at his coat. Sinnett followed with a hum, spinning one of his locs around his finger. Emma hesitated a moment longer, giving Naomi a final glance.

Naomi stood frozen, slate clutched to her chest, lips tight, blood on her skirt.

Emma didn't smile. She didn't pity her either.

She just turned and walked away, finally free from the shadow Naomi once cast over her.

But then Naomi smiled behind her pain, "Stupid pig, I'll make her see why I'm untouchable."

"Ehhh"

A voice suddenly came up behind her, deep, and it sent a chill down her spine. "Make her see.....That kid already touched you, are you still foolishly going to go against his orders."

Naomi scoffed and turned around only to meet no one, but she felt someone was there, she turned around again, yet nothing.

And almost screamed if not for the wave of a hand from a corner. "Don't make a sound....is that kid Asher Morgan?"

She nodded slowly but frowned, "And who are you?"

The figures smiled, revealing white teeth in that darkness like it were floating, and he just made a shush sound and backed away deeper into the corner. "Ask your untouchable father who I am."
