Chapter 8: 1 - 8
Chapter 8: Instead of Fighting, Focus on Cultivation!
The system referred to Tang Hao as the "God of Slaughter" and the "Lord of the Douluo Plane."
Being called the God of Slaughter was reasonable. Tang Hao did indeed inherit this second-tier godhood through Tang San's efforts over two decades later. He also possessed the Slaughter God Domain, which justified the title.
However, calling Tang Hao the "Lord of the Douluo Star Plane" seemed excessive. That title wasn't meant to belong to him for another ten thousand years.
Xiao Tian couldn't help but notice the system's unusual way of addressing Tang San and Xiao Wu, raising some suspicions in his mind. However, with his limited current interactions, he could only wait and observe for now.
By the time Xiao Tian and Xiao Wu had purchased their bedding and other essentials, it was already noon. They grabbed lunch outside, with Xiao Tian footing the bill.
On their way back, Xiao Tian casually asked, "Xiao Wu, where are you from? And why don't you even have a single copper soul coin on you?"
Xiao Wu's expression stiffened as she looked around uneasily. "Uh, my home is... really far from here. I usually don't spend much. I just eat wild fruits, carrots, and such on the way."
"Then why not enroll in a soul master academy closer to your home? Surely there are other academies that accept working students nearby," he asked again, puzzled.
Xiao Tian raised another question, which had actually troubled her for quite a long time.
In truth, even Xiao Wu herself didn't fully understand why she had traveled so far to enroll at Nuoding Academy. As Xiao Tian had pointed out, there were smaller towns scattered between the Star Dou Great Forest and Notting City where she could've settled down more easily.
Xiao Wu faltered, then pouted. "You're so nosy! I'll tell you later." She turned and marched ahead, leaving Xiao Tian to shake his head with a faint smile as he followed behind.
He didn't press further, though his curiosity lingered. Why had Xiao Wu chosen Nuoding Academy, such a remote location?
Her status as a spirit beast shouldn't have been detectable by anyone below the level of a Titled Douluo. And Titled Douluos rarely frequented small towns or villages, making her journey all the way to Nuoding City seem unnecessarily risky.
Pushing these matters aside for now, Xiao Tian refocused his thoughts on his own plans.
Practicing swordsmanship remained a daily necessity, but his training priorities had expanded. He wanted to practice both the Immortal Wind and Cloud Body Technique and the Drunken Immortal Moon-Gazing Step to perfection as soon as possible.
But most pressing was a personal goal he had been longing to achieve since awakening Xuan-Yuan Sword—sword flight.
After three months of mastering the basics of sword arts and sword manipulation techniques through the guidance of Xuan-Yuan Sword, Xiao Tian believed it was finally the time to attempt sword flight.
If successful, it would not only serve as a great breakthrough in his cultivation but also as a foundational skill for future growth.
His first soul ring was another matter of importance. Given the taxing nature of sword manipulation techniques on his soul power reserves, Xiao Tian decided that his first soul ring would focus on boosting his soul power and control over his sword.
Although he hadn't officially reached the tenth level yet—it was after all, nearly impossible to achieve in just three months—his sword training and innate sword intent could become a reason for his accelerated cultivation.
When Xiao Tian and Xiao Wu returned to the dorm seven, only Wang Sheng and a few others were in the dormitory. Tang San was likely with Yu Xiaogang.
Xiao Tian didn't dwell on it. After making his bed, he grabbed his iron sword and headed out again.
"Hey, Xiao Tian, you're heading out already?" Wang Sheng called after him in confusion.
"Practicing my swordsmanship," Xiao Tian replied flatly, then glanced at Wang Sheng and the others. "Here's some advice. As work-study students, we don't have the luxury of slacking off. If you're serious about improving, spend your energy on cultivation rather than fighting with the noble students."
Wang Sheng frowned. "It's not like we want to fight. The noble students keep causing trouble. What choice do we have?"
Xiao Tian shook his head. "That's precisely why you should focus on training. Strength silences trouble. Besides, you can spread the word that Xiao Wu and Tang San both have innate full soul power. And let slip that Tang San is Yu Xiaogang's disciple."
Wang Sheng blinked in surprise. "Yu Xiaogang? The theorist?"
Xiao Tian smirked. "Exactly. Tang San will soon get his first spirit ring with Yu Xiaogang's help. As for the sixth-year nobles, who's the strongest among them? Xiao Chenyu? What's his level?"
"Level eleven," Wang Sheng muttered reluctantly.
"Then that's settled," Xiao Tian offered his solution. "If those nobles keep picking fights, take it to the principal. He wouldn't want two talented work-study students to clash with the nobles, especially with a figure like Yu Xiaogang involved. The principal and Yu Xiaogang are friends, and Xiao Chenyu's father, the city lord, most likely wouldn't dare to offend someone like him."
The logic in Xiao Tian's words left Wang Sheng and his friends speechless, though they couldn't deny its merits. They nodded, albeit reluctantly.
Xiao Tian turned to leave, but Xiao Wu trailed behind him, her curiosity piqued. "Hey, Xiao Tian, wait! Why did you say all that earlier?"
Without breaking stride, Xiao Tian answered calmly, "Did I say anything wrong? What's the point of those fights? If you lose, you get humiliated. If you win, you become some 'big sister' figure. Either way, it wastes time that could be spent on cultivation. Strength speaks louder than status. I'd rather train my sword skills than play these childish games."
Xiao Wu fell silent, watching his back thoughtfully. Xiao Tian's mentality was far from that of a typical six-year-old child. He had little interest in such trivial, childish fights that felt more like a game of make-believe than anything meaningful.
If Xiao Chenyu and his group possessed true strength, they might have served as valuable stepping stones to challenge his abilities and improve his cultivation. However, the reality was far from that. Xiao Chenyu's capabilities were disappointingly weak.
After all, as the son of the city lord, Xiao Chenyu's first spirit ring was merely a ten-year spirit ring—nowhere near the quality of a hundred-year ring.
For someone like him, it was clear—instead of fighting pointless battles, it's better to focus on cultivating strength.
