Chapter 723: Best Young Player In The World
Early in the morning, Hiro checked his phone. He normally didn't like using the phone early in the morning, but he had been curious about the press conference.
The moment he turned on the phone notifications flooded his screen.
Yesterday, he was too exhausted to check his phone, so he disabled the notifications. However, now that he has checked his phone, he cannot help but feel flabbergasted by the notifications.
"Woah!" Hiro's mumbled in surprise.
The swarm of notifications overwhelmed him and he couldn't help but dazedly stare at his screen. Even though he had disabled the notifications for social media, he still received a lot of notifications.
While skimming through the notifications, he found a lot of messages from his well-wishers. Especially, from his friends whom he couldn't entertain due to exhaustion.
There were all sorts of congratulatory messages.
Though winning the game while being named the MOTM was a great achievement, Hiro couldn't understand the meaning behind their excessive congratulations.
"Congratulations Hiro, I knew you could do it. But I didn't think you would do it this soon."
That was the message from Eric.
"Huh? What is he talking about? Is he talking about my performance?" Hiro couldn't help but feel perplexed by the content of the message.
As he skimmed through the mail, he found a lot of identical mail. The more he encountered those mail, the more confused he felt.
The content of those emails was rather ambiguous, making it hard to comprehend.
There was quite a lot of unknown mail too. Hiro didn't bother checking them. He merely assumed those as scams. After all, he had a team handling things like endorsements, and advertising.
There wasn't a need for him to trouble himself with such tasks.
Yet still, he had received a lot of mail.
What was happening?
Hiro sat in his bed pondering, his expression complacent. The way those people congratulated him made it seem like he had won some kind of trophy. However, he had only won a match.
Amidst the confusion, he found his manager's mail. He tapped on the mail, his finger moving almost by instinct.
"Check the mail from the Goal. You've done it. Congratulations."
That was it. No unnecessary words and no explanations. Even so, he learned something about the fuss.
Frowning, Hiro exited the mail and scrolled through his inbox. While scrolling, he encountered an unread message from the Goal.
Though Hiro rarely paid attention to stuff outside football, Hiro recognized the brand. Just like Marca and other famous sports journals, Goal.com was also a famous sports media agency.
"Subject: Takahashi Hiro— The Best Young Player in the World"
Hiro's breath hitched and his pulse quickened.
He hesitated for a moment before tapping the message open.
"Dear Hiro,
Congratulations! You have been officially named the NxGn Winner for this year—recognizing you as the most outstanding young footballer in the world."
Hiro sat still, leaning the weight of the words settle over him. Disbelief shrouded his vision as he struggled to believe the content of the message.
The NxGn Award—the prestigious honor given to the best young player in the world.
Upon learning that he had been awarded such a prestigious honor, his heart swelled with elation and pride. He had been recognized.
He had been recognized on the European stage. This meant a lot to him.
For the first time since the notifications flooded his phone, he truly understood why everyone had been congratulating him.
Now, he was no longer a promising player but the best young player in the world.
This award that's given to the most impressive players under the age of 19, Hiro had earn it. Though he failed to win this year's Golden Boy Award, he won the NxGn Award defying the odds.
Despite playing a huge role in the World Cup, Hiro had been denied of the opportunity to win the Golden Boy award because he didn't play in Europe.
However, now that he was here, who would deny him again?
Despite joining the club in the middle of the season, he had contributed more than anyone else listed in the ranking. In fewer matches, he had surpassed the previously named favorites.
He had left a lasting impression on the hearts of the people.
With his clutch-like performance, he had led his team to glory. He had led his team to the top of the table from previous fifth position. Even his performances in the Champions League and Spanish Cup had been nothing but impressive. Enjoy more content from My Virtual Library Empire
Given their current form, they were eligible for a European treble.
The shortlist for the award had been made public quite a while ago with Hiro being the newest addition. However, he didn't pay any heed to the award.
For now, he had his priority set on establishing himself. Hence, he didn't bother checking up on the details. He rarely used social media because he believed they would only distract him from his goal.
Thus, he put his full attention on football.
But now receiving such a prestigious award out of nowhere, Hiro couldn't help but feel glad about it. The award meant that his efforts had been recognized.
His eyes glistened with joy as his heart raced. Excitement overcame him and Hiro couldn't help but scream, "THE BEST YOUNG PLAYER IN THE WORLD"
His cheeks flushed and he couldn't stop musing.
With a bright smile plastered on his face, Hiro then proceeded to check the news.
"Atletico Madrid's Takahashi Hiro— The new king of the next generation?"
"Hiro vs Cillian— the rivalry that will define a new era?"
"Takahashi Hiro: The winner of the NxGn Award"
"Atletico triumphs over Barcelona with the brace from their newest signing"
"A European Treble for Atletico Madrid?"
Hiro spotted several articles floating on the internet. The content of the articles further widened his smile. Hiro couldn't stop smiling staring at the screen.
If he had been in the presence of someone, he wouldn't be acting exhilarated like this. However, right now, he was alone in the room.
