My Supernatural Girlfriends Spoils Me Rotten

Chapter 365: Journey to the Center 5

The lobby was spotless, quiet, with soft lighting that reflected off polished black floors.

He approached the front desk where a well-groomed man sat in uniform, collar sharp, hair slicked back like he'd picked a preset from a robotic stylist and hit confirm.

Then again, in a place this advanced, that probably was likely the case.

He could've been an actor back on Asher's homeworld—clean jawline, clear skin, eyes that looked like they'd practiced smirking in the mirror.

But the moment he looked up and saw Asher, his whole mood soured.

A few of the nearby staff had already turned their heads, whispering. Asher didn't do anything to draw attention, and he didn't need to.

Even with his looks toned down, he would still rank in the six digits across the entire universe.

The clerk hated it.

"I'm here to get a passage approved," Asher said, keeping his tone respectful.

"Passage to what?" The clerk's tone carried a hint of annoyance, but Asher, being the bigger person, chose to ignore it.

"Passage to the Hyperion Teleporter."

The clerk raised an eyebrow. "You sure you're not mistaken? We're talking about the most advanced portal in the entire universe. Not just anyone gets approval."

Asher forced a smile. "I know. That's why I'm here to figure out what I need to get set up. How about you point me in the right direction?"

"What a hassle," the clerk lazily pointed to a tablet. "Scan your ID here so I can pull up your information."

Not wanting to make a scene, Asher just complied.

The clerk checked his information, then burst into laughter.

"Oh my god, you just registered today and you're already asking for a passage? You should probably go to school first, seeing as you don't have a clue what you're doing."

Normally, Asher would've released his aura and made the clerk regret his life choices.

But Pantheon had warned him that doing so would get him immediately detected and hauled off for questioning. He couldn't afford that.

"Is there any way you can help me? You're right, I'm new here, so..."

"Scram before I call security for wasting my time."

Asher activated his Mind Zero to calm down. It didn't look like he was going to get any answers here, so he decided to leave and speak to people outside.

Just before he left, the clerk sneered, clearly enjoying what he did in front of his coworkers.

Outside, Asher sat on a metal bench.

(Brat, how does it feel to be normal?)

"That doesn't count. That guy acted like an asshole."

(Hahaha, I have to admit, your patience has grown. Looks like you're finally learning to control your dragon blood.)

"I just don't like unnecessary complications."

(Well, that's a good mindset. It's a good thing you're not naturally overbearing or arrogant. A lot of powerhouses met their end because they overestimated themselves.)

While lost in conversation, he heard footsteps approaching.

At first, he thought it was just someone passing by, but the steps stopped right in front of him.

When he looked up, he saw a girl with short hair, wearing a powersuit that covered her torso and legs but left her shoulders exposed.

She looked human—except for the black sclera of her eyes, which contrasted sharply with the red iris.

"I saw what happened back inside. Why didn't you confront that asshole? You're powerful enough to kill him with a flick of your finger."

Asher raised his guard. He observed her again, but she was at C-rank, and Pantheon confirmed it.

"How did you come to that conclusion?"

She touched her lips and smiled. "Well, judging by your clothes, it's clear you're not from around here. And even though you try to hide it, you have the demeanor of someone powerful."

"Your steps don't even make a sound, and when you were talking to the clerk, you kept your distance. I figured you're some kind of mage, or you usually fight from long range."

Asher did not reply because she was spot on , but how ? There was no way she knew him .

"And now you're wondering how I figured it out, right?" she giggled, handing him a calling card with her name on it. Shery Homes - Homes Detective Agency.

"I'm a private detective, but I also do a lot more depending on the price you're willing to pay."

Asher took the calling card, but he didn't even have a phone with him. "Wait, so you're offering your services to me?"

"Yes, I can help you with many things for a very affordable price."

'She's too suspicious.'

Closing his eyes, he tried to recall everything he'd done since he got here. With enough focus, he could tap into the smaller details his brain had dimmed as unimportant. And then, there she was.

"Interesting. So, you've been following me since I left O.N.E Trading," he called her out.

She took a step back, realizing her modus operandi had been uncovered.

"Stop playing games. I don't like people with hidden agendas. "he warned.

Shery quickly raised both hands and waved them.

"Please, don't do anything rash. I'm really a detective, but business hasn't been great lately, so I've been trying to find some new clients in this station. I just happened to see you leaving O.N.E., and the guards looked respectful, so I assumed you're loaded."

"I am loaded," he admitted. It wasn't like she was strong enough to steal his money.

Besides, she sounded genuine this time, and he really needed a local to help him.

"You are?" Her eyes widened, not out of admiration, but greed.

She liked money, and for him, it was easier to deal with people like her.

Just shower them with money, and they'd go above and beyond to do his bidding.

"Yes, I am. So, give me your price for being my personal assistant until I leave this planet."

She raised both hands, caught off guard by the abruptness of the question. It felt like she'd hit a jackpot, and she wasn't about to quote a cheap price.

"Ten million units!"

Cold sweat trickled down her forehead as she nervously checked his face, fearing she pushed her luck too far.

"I'll give you 10 million units upfront, and another 10 million if you do your best."

Her eyes widened in shock, struggling to hide the surprise as she tried to maintain composure.

"10 million upfront...?" she whispered, half in disbelief. "And another 10 if I do my best?"

That amount could cover her rent for years without her ever worrying about eviction.

"Don't make me repeat myself. Are you in or not? I can find someone else."

"I'm in, Boss! I'll do my best to satisfy you!" she blurted out, then quickly waved her hands. "Wait—sorry! I didn't mean it that way!"

"I don't care," Asher said flatly. "Let's go somewhere else first. I need to talk to you about getting a Hyperion Pass."

She nodded and led the way.

The spot wasn't far—just a short walk through a side path that cut between two high-rise towers.

As they entered the area, Asher noticed it felt like a city within a city.

"This is where most employees go during break time," Shery explained. "There's a cafe, some restaurants, a supply store, even a VR parlor. You could basically live here if you wanted."

It was busy, but not crowded.

Shery pointed at a small cafe tucked in the corner. "That place's decent. Private booths too."

Asher followed her inside.

The place had a warm interior, dim lights, and smooth ambient music that helped block outside noise.

Most customers sat alone or in pairs, focused on their devices or quiet conversations.

Shery led him to a booth in the back. It was partly enclosed, offering privacy from wandering eyes and ears.

A digital menu lit up as soon as they sat down.

"Order whatever you want. It's on me," Asher said while leaning back.

Shery blinked in surprise but didn't argue. "Thanks, Boss."

She tapped her order in quickly, not wanting to seem greedy.

A moment later, the table split open in the middle, and the food rose up from inside—hot and ready.

Payment was just as fast. Asher tapped his card once, and it was done. Talk about fast food.

Asher leaned forward slightly, resting his arms on the table.

"Alright," he kept his voice calm "About the Hyperion Pass. I need you to walk me through how people actually get it. No vague talk. I need real steps."

She sipped her drink before speaking. "Boss, if you want to get approved, then going straight there was the wrong move. First, you need to sign up with an organization. After that, you'll need a referral letter from them."

"Which one's the easiest to get into?"

Shery tapped her chin. "Depends on your skills. But the Starfront Exploration Corps takes in almost anyone with decent combat ability."

"The Engineering Organization is strict on credentials. The Mages Association… well, they're picky and traditional, but if you show promise, they might take you in."

She paused, then added, "For someone like you, the Starfront is probably your best bet."

Asher raised an eyebrow, curious. "Why do you say that?"

"They don't care much about your background. They just care if you can fight and get the job done. Plus, the requirements to join are relatively simple compared to the other two. It's more about fighting their instructor, and you'll be graded afterward."

She sipped her drink again before speaking. "I feel like you're around (A-) Rank. That would be more than enough for you to get special treatment there." She winked.

(A-Rank?) Asher didn't correct her. He wasn't someone who liked to brag.
