Chapter 177
Chapter: 177
I had a really relaxing and delightful time at the mansion.
I spent my time just chilling without any particular tasks to do.
“Yawn… Rize, did you sleep well?”
“…It’s uncomfortable.”
“Don’t like it?”
“…I didn’t say that.”
“Hehe…”
I just hung out casually with Rize, played some pranks on Ashley, and had conversations with Rosalyn.
That’s how I spent my days.
Since I had to go back to the Academy soon, I was just taking it easy, but it ended up being way more fun than I thought.
Really, I just lay comfortably on the bed with Rize, reading books. If I got a bit bored, I’d go out and do some shopping.
That’s about all I did…
“Sigh… I don’t want to go back to the Academy.”
“Lady.”
“I know, I have to go, right?”
“…Yes.”
“I was just saying that. I’ve just been so comfortable at the mansion lately that it slipped out. Rize, you haven’t been comfortable lately, have you?”
“It was… comfortable.”
I knew it!
After all, we just rested together in the room.
Honestly, Rize didn’t really need to work like the other maids.
She just had to do the tasks I assigned her.
In the past, I had so much business to handle and documents to deal with that I just assigned her other tasks to keep myself company.
“When I go back to the Academy, I won’t be able to spend time with you like this. That’s a bit disappointing.”
“Is that so…?”
Hearing that made Rize’s face light up.
She liked it when I said things like that.
It was cute and funny, so I poked her cheek while we lay on the bed together.
“What about you, Rize?”
“I… feel the same.”
“Hehe… So, you should just come to the Club Room often. You don’t have to wait until I go to the Dormitory Room.”
“But, it feels wrong for me to just barge into the place where you spend time with your friends…”
It’s fine, though.
Honestly, nobody would care that much.
I mean, Rize is just overly shy and tends to get all flustered about these things.
“Well, there’s nothing I can do about that.”
“…Yes.”
“It would be fun if you joined us in the Club Room.”
“Even if you say that…”
“Yeah, just come?”
“…I think I’ll wait in the Dormitory for now.”
“Hmm…”
I was saying this, but I figured when I dragged Rize out later, she’d follow me anyway.
After all, she came to the Club Room to help me study for exams last time.
There was never a choice to never show up.
I just played around with Rize’s cheek.
“Hmmm… What should I pack when going back to the Academy…?”
“I think the clothes you have at the Academy will be enough.”
“Yeah, that’s true. Just need to pack some other documents… Ah, I should pack some stuff that might help Ivana.”
Even though there was still a lot of time left, it’s always better to get business done sooner, right?
I figured I could help her out next semester.
Anyways, soon I’d have to head back to the Academy.
To be honest…
“I’m really not looking forward to it… Riding in that carriage for hours, days… Ugh…”
“Ugh…”
I seriously didn’t want to go…
Isn’t there some sort of magical train or something in this world filled with magic?
The only transportation available being a carriage is a real letdown.
“At least the good thing is, I learned magic from my teacher…”
“At least I don’t think it’ll be hot in the carriage during the trip.”
“Hehe, that’s true.”
“Even when I return to the Academy, it will be hot for a while… So in that sense, it’s really a blessing. You get hot easily, after all.”
During this vacation, I learned magic from Ashley.
That air conditioning magic I had wanted to use for so long.
The name felt complicated for some reason, but it’s just air conditioning magic.
I mixed various types of magic and because it was my first time fusing them together, it was honestly tough, but fortunately, I successfully mastered it.
“It’s such a relief that I won’t be hot in the Dormitory Room, and I can stay cool in the Club Room as well. That’s a huge relief.”
“…Yes.”
“Honestly, it got kind of hot lying next to Rize after summer started, you know?”
“…….”
“Thanks to that, even in hot weather, it’s not really a problem… It’s actually refreshing so we can stay much more comfortably.”
That might really be the biggest gain from this summer break.
Yeah, I definitely learned well.
If I could, I wish I had learned it last year, but… back then, my magic skills were definitely lacking compared to now.
I was really glad to have learned it this summer at least.
“I feel like I should get my teacher a gift before I go back.”
“I think if you just give her a decent pillow, she’d really appreciate it.”
“That’s true, but just giving something simple like that feels a bit lacking for me.”
“Is that so…?”
“Yeah, I mean, it is her job to do such things. Still, a single pillow just feels too simple, right?”
“That’s… true.”
Anyways, we continued that conversation while spending time on the bed.
After all, once the concerns started to arise thanks to Ashley, my days were always like this.
Hanging around with Rize on the bed or wherever, then when Rize couldn’t handle her embarrassment anymore and excused herself, I’d go find Ashley.
If not, I’d just assign all the work to the maids, and go hang out and play with the often idle Rosalyn.
Yep, that’s just the kind of life I had.
“Mother, what are you doing?”
“In a month, it’ll soon be autumn, so I was thinking of changing up the garden again.”
“Oh.”
Given that I was naturally going about my day, I decided to pop into Rosalyn’s Room.
I thought about going to see Ashley, but since I’d soon be heading back to the Academy,
I really wanted to spend more time with Rosalyn first.
So I just came to her room.
“What brings you here? Did you need something?”
“I didn’t come for something like that; I just wanted to spend time with mother.”
“Oh… is that so?”
“Yes. Since I’ll soon be going back to the Academy.”
“Oh… that’s true.”
Honestly, I thought it’d be nice not to go to the Academy and just hang out with Rosalyn.
Of course, that wouldn’t be easy?
Although I didn’t do anything special with Rosalyn, I really enjoyed spending time with her.
Hanging out with the various friends from the Academy is fun, but… spending time with Rosalyn just felt so much better.
Even now, having a casual conversation and smiling like this.
“Academy… you said it’s fun, right?”
“Yes, it’s fun. There are lots of friends, and since everyone is around my age, it’s different from staying in the mansion where I meet all sorts of cute faces.”
“That’s definitely true. In the mansion… aside from Rize, everyone else isn’t really around my age.”
“Of course, I’d still prefer staying in the mansion over being in the Academy, though.”
Rosalyn was writing something down on documents as she talked with me, and I was just sitting obediently on the chair, chatting.
Even though it was casual talk, I couldn’t stop smiling.
It’s a different kind of happiness than when I mess around with Ashley or talk with Rize while lying on the bed, you know?
“Hmmm… it’s quite disappointing that Camelia is going back to the Academy…”
“Hehe, really?”
“Of course! It hasn’t been long since Camelia returned from the Academy, right? Just about a month…? Of course, it’s disappointing.”
“Hehe, if you say that, then I’m happy.”
Yeah.
This is real.
I was genuinely pleased that Rosalyn shared similar thoughts with me.
Well, it’s only natural, but still.
“Hmmm… Camelia.”
“Yes, Mother.”
“I’m asking just in case, but you haven’t been drinking with friends at the Academy lately, have you?”
“…What?”
…Huh?
…What are you talking about?
I felt confused for a moment after hearing that.
“Drinking?”
“Yeah, like wine or whiskey. Back when I was at the Academy… kids would get caught drinking stuff like that all the time.”
“Uh… we don’t do that.”
“Then that’s a relief. Even if you do get caught drinking at the Academy, the penalties aren’t that severe… but still, it’s best to wait until you’re an adult to drink.”
Hmm…
You know, there are definitely some strange kids at the Academy.
Maybe that’s why she worried about that?
From the stories I heard about Rosalyn’s time at the Academy, there seemed to be plenty of odd characters back then.
Noble students would get into one-on-one fights with commoners, and teachers would use ice magic on students… yeah.
I just shrugged it off with that.
“To be honest, I’ve never even touched alcohol until now.”
“Phew, that’s really a relief.”
Well, I did like alcohol.
I hadn’t drunk any in this life, but in my past life, I liked it quite a bit.
The unique bitterness from the alcohol and the sweetness that comes from the ingredients used to make it… it’s something, really.
“Oh, but thinking about the kids who are getting punished in the Dormitory Room, they might’ve gotten caught for that reason.”
“Looks like the Academy hasn’t changed at all.”
“Indeed, that seems to be true. After all, lots of the Academy teachers were quite eccentric back then.”
Must be because so many people are around at the Academy, right?
There really are all kinds of characters.
“Hmmm… Camelia. How about we have a late-night snack together after dinner tonight?”
“Uh… a late-night snack?”
It was suddenly Rosalyn’s suggestion.
It was still broad daylight, with a long way until nightfall.
I never thought she’d bring up having a late-night snack now.
Of course, I didn’t dislike the suggestion…
“Because I’ll be going back to the Academy soon. I just wanted to spend more time with my daughter before that.”
“Oh…”
In that case, of course!
No, regardless of that reason…
“Should we do that?”
I would’ve agreed with Rosalyn’s suggestion anyway.
