My Elven half sister was absurdly adorable with how she acted, and even just thinking about the fact that she shared a race with someone as horrible as Jillian just put into perspective how much of an absolute psychotic bitch Jillian was.

Because if you were this adorable little creature and somehow grew up into that... that thing that was Jillian, you had to be an absolute nutcase and then some; I mean, just looking at Alessandra crawl between Leone and I as she tried to determine who would be better to have read her book was just so..!

Oh she was so cute, even if she did eventually choose the Vampire - snuggling against her and melting into Leone's warmer body made it rather clear that my own lower body temperature was a bit of a 'hinderance' here - I still found myself just smiling as I watched her.

With Leone reading her book she forgot about everyone else though, so I was able to look over towards the three Demonesses and enjoy their 'idiocy' even if it did make me cringe a little with how 'dangerous' it was.

If they weren't mana empowered warriors who could do some 'impossible' things I would absolutely be screaming at them to stop throwing Lakshmi through the air into one another's arms, even though the lavender skinned baby was having the time of her short life right now.

The bubbling laughter as she flew through the air into Mom's arms before being adjusted and then thrown right back to Jahi continued to get louder and more excited as she engaged in a bit of 'fun' with the Mom and sister that she had been missing for so long.

Mother Ria was sitting nearby watching them like a hawk, and yet she never once attempted to stop them since Lakshmi was enjoying it far too much; Anput was just snickering as she lounged beside Jahi, watching the flying baby with amusement and making me sigh as I realized this was likely in my own future as well...

That just left Mother, who was getting a quick break from everything in the kitchen on her lonesome, so even though I knew she would likely prefer being completely alone I couldn't help it as I got up and approached her, helping her make her tea without saying a word.

Her warm smile was more than enough, though the way it faded when she saw the antics of Mom was rather... amusing too; she didn't move to stop them either, but there was definitely going to be a long, stern talk later tonight... which made me chuckle.

"Oh, don't even get started now Katherine! You think this isn't in your future as well?"

'Jabbing' her finger at me, Mother gave me a 'stern' look before smiling slightly as she pat my cheek next, unable to help herself; not wanting to argue a moot point with her I just leaned into her hand and enjoyed it, which led to a nice, warm hug.

"I missed you..."

That low murmur got a few tears into my eyes, but I just blinked them away and hugged her tighter as I murmured back "I missed you too, Mother... and I definitely know not to take all of this for granted now...".

She cocked a brow at that, so after a glance over at the others I just began to explain how... bored, drained and stressful it was being in a place like that, where there was no real 'break' from everything since none of us thought we could let out guard down.

Then I told her about some of the more... 'trying' times as well, both during the march too and from as well as the thing with Lady Fenyras, hoping to find some more information regarding that since I never really had to deal with other Caninekin besides Anput.

Taking a deep breath and pondering on it for a moment, Mother turned back towards the others and leaned against the counter, her arm still around my waist as she kept me close to her; leaning against her and resting my head on her shoulder, I waited and just took it all in.

The chaos with the Demonesses, the serenity with the baby Elf... how my own wives were acting right now, both on their own and with the children; all of it was 'studied' for the future, and I was beyond happy with what I saw.

"Hmm... I... I would assume that you were just in heat and or Lady Fenyras was in heat; you are a tad young for a proper heat cycle, but... well... you are by far more active then most. Instinctually she was just a perfect choice. Honestly... for us, she might be THE perfect choice. Again, instinctually.

If you still feel a little... off, you should ask Anput to mark you again. A proper mark, not just a playful one. That should 'refresh' your body and help keep you in check, though now that you aren't forced into close contact with Lady Fenyras it isn't really needed."

With that little tidbit of knowledge now stowed away, I was about to just nod and move forwards before I caught onto something; the words 'proper heat cycle' were definitely... something, and that only made me more curious.

"Then... Mother, what happens for someone like you..? Someone who isn't married to another Caninekin?"

Even with the wry smile she was blushing as she pursed her lips, clearly considering her answer before just saying "I just go through the heat. With your first child everything slows though; all heat is for us Caninekin is a way to remind us that we need to have at least a single child. After that it comes and goes as it pleases."

Staring at her for a few more seconds, I had to wonder if one of those times was just a little after I had arrived since there were so many nights where things got... well, 'heated' between the three of them.

"Yes, I have had a single cycle since then, and it was right before these two... though it wasn't what brought them here. I- no, let's just stop, hm? All you need to know is that the moment you feel weird and tingly is the moment you look for Anput."

She got a little flustered thanks to her own thoughts, making me chuckle and raise a brow before I scurried away when she pinched my side in 'retaliation'; I was still left with my own fair share of questions, but they could be answered eventually.

Besides, there were more important things right now, like making sure Mother Ria wasn't going to kill Jahi since the idiot almost dropped Lakshmi... so I needed to get her to stop what she was doing with Mom before they both were zapped a handful of times...
