My Servant System

Chapter 1403: Will It Be A Showdown?

"They are here? In the Labyrinthian, in this city... right now? And we somehow haven't come across them till now? Did they just arrive?"

A flurry of questions escaped my lips, each one more pointed than the last as I stared at Cali intently, trying to pry out as much from her as I could since she was the one who had brought this information to us.

"They've been here is what it feels like. They were comfortable moving around and didn't seem at all surprised by the Trials they were looking at; if anything they were searching for one that fit them better, so we haven't been alone for a fair amount of time..."

"I know this city is gigantic, but still... all this time and we never once crossed paths with them? Didn't find any of the Trials they completed or any marks that they left behind on a certain Trial? Nothing at all? That's..."

Cali hummed and drifted around lazily, her earlier concern melting away a little as she instead just accepted what had happened and was planning to leave everything to us; I could tell since she becoming far too relaxed and looking primarily at Lady Fenyras, Lilith and Mom.

Those three alone could have handled the Arch Fiend and freed us up to handle the damnable Elves, but with Cali here we were even more in the advantage, albeit an unknown one since we had no idea how strong this Arch Fiend was or if they had given Jillian the same kind of power up that I had received.

"It is extremely likely that they both have received some special 'attention' from their new companion, and considering how thick the haze of Lust energy was around them I would even be willing to wager that they have gotten more out of her than you have out of me...

After all, direct transference of energy allows for a stronger bond, larger sets of improvements and a far more efficient process that makes everything quicker for them. So there is that, just in case you were wondering."

I just ignored the pointed look she gave me and instead focused on Jahi and the others, exchanging looks with them first before asking the most obvious question now that we had taken a moment to process this information.

"Should... should we even bother confronting them? Is it worth the risk for something that isn't actually that important? Especially since they don't know we're here either? We could just leave and they would be none the wiser..."

Leone looked like she was partially wanting to agree with me, Anput seemed unfazed and was instead moving her gaze between Jahi and I, while the Demoness was just frowning as she stared straight into my eyes.

She kept quiet for a few seconds, allowing Leone to take a deep breath before she said "It would be the most logical decision to leave them be and return to the Empire, but... at the same time, it is a risk. It is a risk either way but if we don't confront them now we will never know if they are coming for us or not. I've known Jillian the longest and yet that has meant little, but I do know she was... determined."

"The entire Family was 'determined', though I imagine it has been twisted into something terrible due to her own nature and now the presence of an Arch Fiend."

I glanced at Mom and nodded, but even still I felt myself wanting to embrace the logical decision simply because... well, it was logical, and the idea of confronting them now that the impulsive heat of anger had faded away was far from appealing to me.

When my gaze returned to Jahi though I was reminded that my ability to put my anger aside and think about everyone wasn't something that was shared by everyone, and the clear rage that was smoldering in her amethyst eyes was rather... worrying.

"We have the perfect opportunity to go and kill them once and for all, and you want to just leave them be? Who knows if they will come back to hunt us again, if they will try and kidnap you again... Is that really a risk we want to take? When we could go confront them here and now?"

Taking a deep breath, I kept eye contact with my towering lover and calmly said "I am still angry at what happened, Jahi, really I am, but... Is it worth fostering that rage still? To feed those flames and act on them when we have a clear avenue of exit ready for us?"

"Why run now when we can solve this problem for good? Kill them and we never have to run again. No looking over our shoulders, nor worrying about their return. We just end their pathetic lives here and never think of them ever again. Leave them to rot in the middle of the Labyrinthian like the scum they are."

I sighed before looking at Leone as the Vampire Princess added "It is a fair point, Kat, and... honestly, I want to be rid of them as well. You were the one whisked away and left all alone, but you were not the only one who suffered. I want to make them feel what I felt."

Again I sighed, but it wasn't going to change how the Vampire or the Demoness felt about the Elves; it also didn't help that Cali decided to chime in with "They'll probably sense us before we even begin to leave as well, so... you might not have much of a choice.", causing another sigh to spill from my lips.

"What do you mean they'll sense us? How?"

"Well, I can't really hide myself from an Arch Fiend, and since they've gotten so close once its likely they'll get close again."

"Not if we leave this instant and head into the changing landscapes below."

"True. However, can you really leave them behind~? Or are you wanting to live the rest of your life wondering when they'll come to steal you away for their own pleasure~?"
