Chapter 63: Chapter 64: You Stupid Fox
Inside the dark, sealed space.
Kushina Uzumaki used her chakra to manifest words in mid-air. In the cage not far away, two enormous eyes stared intently, without blinking. At first, the Nine-Tails refused to look. You can't just tell me to look, and I'll look. What about the pride of the strongest Tailed Beast?
But he couldn't stand the loneliness. After Kushina persisted for several months, the Nine-Tails finally became engrossed, and from then on, he was completely hooked. Damn, this is actually good!
After getting along for a year, the Nine-Tails had grudgingly come to acknowledge Kushina. After all, if she hadn't earned merit, she had at least put in the effort.
Just then, a knock sounded at the door. Kushina's eyes lit up. "Big fox, that's all for today. I need to get the door." With that, her consciousness withdrew from the sealed space.
"Hey! Wait!" The Nine-Tails, seeing her leave, roared with dissatisfaction. "Damn it, the thing I hate most in my life is a cliffhanger!"
"Lady Tsunade? Haneul?" Kushina opened the door, her face lighting up with pleasant surprise. "Come in!"
"Is Minato not here again?" Tsunade asked, scanning the room and not seeing him.
"He's on a mission," Kushina explained. "Ever since he learned the Flying Thunder God Technique, his mission load has doubled."
"The Flying Thunder God is certainly convenient," Tsunade nodded, then asked, "How has the Nine-Tails been recently?"
"Oh, we get along great now!" Kushina said animatedly. "The Nine-Tails isn't as scary as I thought. He's kind of like a dog!"
Tsunade's expression immediately turned strange. You're the first person to compare a Tailed Beast to a dog. Even her great-grandfather, when assessing the Nine-Tails, had said, "You are too dangerous and must be sealed."
Suddenly, an immense aura surged forth. Kushina was enveloped in a blood-red Tailed Beast cloak, two tails flying wildly behind her.
"What's going on?" Tsunade reacted quickly, clenching her fists with a grave tone.
"It's fine, it's fine," Kushina waved her hands dismissively. "I said he was like a dog, and he got upset. He's protesting."
"..." Tsunade was silent. This didn't seem to fit the description of an "incarnation of evil" at all.
"I remember today is the first day of school. Haneul, how do you have time to come over?" Kushina asked, retracting the two tails. She could now freely control her tails, or rather, her partial Tailed Beast state.
"He thinks the old man is too long-winded and didn't want to listen," Tsunade replied with a smile, having recovered from her shock.
"I feel the same way!" Kushina said excitedly, as if she had found a kindred spirit.
Haneul remembered that Kushina wasn't exactly a prim and proper lady. She was more like Tsunade, prone to violence, but she was just more restrained in front of them.
"It's still early for dinner. Let's play cards," Tsunade said, revealing her true colors now that the pleasantries were over. Haneul shook his head helplessly. Of course.
"Huh?" Kushina suddenly looked surprised. "The Nine-Tails says he wants to play, too."
"He can!" Tsunade was taken aback for a moment, then agreed with great interest. Playing cards with the Nine-Tails... now that sounds interesting. "But the Nine-Tails is in a sealed space. How can he play?"
The next second, two tails sprouted from Kushina again, and under the Nine-Tails' control, they formed ten fingers.
"Then let's do it!" Tsunade said, cracking her knuckles. "I've never won against a Tailed Beast before."
Three people and one fox sat down at the table.
"What game should we play?" Kushina asked, holding a deck of cards. "It should be something with simple rules, so the Nine-Tails can understand quickly."
"I'm a genius! I can understand any rules!" the Nine-Tails roared, and the two tails outside flailed in response.
"I have a new game," Haneul raised his hand. "It's called... Fight the Ghost Card." He had originally wanted to suggest Dou Dizhu (Fight the Landlord), but it was hard to explain, so he changed the name.
"Then tell us the rules," Kushina said, shuffling the cards.
"It's like this," Haneul explained the rules of his past life's favorite card game.
"But then we'd have one extra person," Kushina said after hearing the rules.
"I'm not playing," Haneul shook his head.
"That works," Kushina didn't object. "Children shouldn't gamble, after all."
"You sit next to me," Tsunade said suddenly. Whenever they played cards at Kushina's house with Haneul participating, she never won. Now that he wasn't playing, she could use her good luck charm.
Haneul knew exactly what she was thinking and moved to sit with her. "Closer," Tsunade said, glancing at him. Haneul scooted over until their bodies were pressed together. Even through their clothes, he could feel the softness of her skin, especially her fleshy thigh.
"You two have such a good relationship," Kushina couldn't help but remark.
The game of Fight the Ghost Card officially began.
"Big fox, don't just play randomly! I'm your teammate!"
"Your plays are terrible!"
"Shut up! You stupid fox!"
Kushina's furious voice echoed continuously. With Haneul neutralizing her bad luck, and with the Nine-Tails as her terrible teammate, Kushina lost far more than she won.
"Calm down," Haneul said, pouring Kushina a cup of cappucc... coffee.
"What Nine-Tails? Not so tough after all!" Kushina said after taking a sip. The two tails beside her twitched, but she shot them a fierce glare. The tails immediately drooped, looking utterly dejected. Haneul wanted to laugh but didn't dare. In the original story, after the Nine-Tails and Naruto became friends, its true personality was revealed—a bit of a tsundere. All in all, it wasn't evil, more like a husky.
[E-Rank Talent Trait 'Kotoamatsukami Mouth' effect upgraded.]
[Hand Seal Speed increased by 30% from its base rate.]
Haneul was slightly surprised. Did this upgrade happen because of the Nine-Tails? In any case, it was a good thing. After all, hand seal speed was crucial for a ninja.
After lunch, Haneul and Tsunade left Kushina's house.
"I want to learn the Body Flicker Technique this afternoon," Haneul said on the way home. The jutsu wasn't difficult. He hadn't learned it before because he was waiting to complete his C-Rank 'Medical Chunin' Trait. Now, he just needed the Body Flicker Technique to synthesize the C-Rank 'Swift as the Wind' Trait, and finally, the B-Rank 'Seal-less Healing' Trait.
"Alright," Tsunade had originally planned to go to the casino that afternoon, but since Haneul wanted to learn, she had to temporarily give up her plans.
The two returned home but didn't go inside. Outside, Tsunade began to explain the Body Flicker Technique. Simply put, it was a method of high-speed movement. There were many types. The most basic version was only D-Rank in difficulty. Higher levels involved adding chakra nature transformations, such as Water Body Flicker, Mist Body Flicker, and Lightning Body Flicker. The highest level was space-time ninjutsu, like the Flying Thunder God Technique.
Naturally, what Haneul was learning was the simplest version.
