My Perfect World

Looking back at the Cold Hearted, I stare with a look of pity & disgust. "So, what got this party started?" I ask, trying to figure out why all this stuff is going on.

I look to the Cold Hearted.

"I want an answer."

She looks at me with an enraged expression. "I knew this would happen! The second I saw you I knew we'd lost!"

"Fine!" She answers. "The truth is, we want whats on your friend's necklace!" She points to the small orb attatched to my friend's neck. "Why? What makes it so special?" I ask. She begins to speak.

"That I don't know. We were hired by someone to steal it! I have no goddamn idea what it does! The things just a useless piece of junk!"

Interesting... "Well, you might be telling the truth that you don't know, but if 4 Chaotic Demons were hired by someone to steal it, then its clearly not a piece of junk."

Either way, these guys tried to kill my friends. That's unforgiveable. "Kyle. Give me the orb. I wanna see it in depth." I shout over to him.

As he hands me the orb, I look at it. "It doesn't look too special to me. If I were an idiot, I'd also think that its a useless piece of junk. Clearly, it isn't.

"One more thing, do you guys know about the Black Flame? Why was it here?" I ask, puzzled about the situation.

"Black Flame? It wasn't the Arsonist?" The Cold Hearted responds with worry. In response, I say, out loud to Kyle, "This isn't good. We gotta get out of here, and fast! If there are more enemies in the woodwork, I won't be able to beat them this time. I'm too defeated from fighting these 4. If another enemy comes along, we're all screwed."

"Shelby. Wake up." I say, realizing she's been unconscious this whole time. If these guys wre any smarter, they probably would've taken her hostage to stop me. Seems like the Arsonist really thought he was strong enough to stop me.

"One more question. This forest. You said it's the barrier between life & death, right. How do we escape, and why does it exist?"

The Cold Hearted looks at me, laughing. "That's the neat part. You don't! You're trapped in here. As for why it exists, nobody knows that. All I know is that ghosts exist in this forest. It's like a barrier between life & death. Everyone who dies in this forest, stays here. They stay here as a ghost until the end of time."

We can't escape. Instantly, I pick up on the fact that she's lying out of her teeth. "If you can't escape, then why are you guys in here. Clearly, you have a way out."

She chuckles. "No. Not anymore. We HAD a way out, until you almost killed him."

Is she talking about the Arsonist? "How can he get out, but we can't?"

To that, she gives a grin. "The only way out of the forest is to destroy it. We came here with the plans of destroying this forest, and burning it to the ground! This place has existed since the beginning of time, and even before that. Fire is the only thing that can stop it."

Damn it! So I can only escape once he reforms from embers? How long is that even gonna take? Wait! No. I have another way. The black fire is the only other way. I think it might work.

"Shelby. Wake up." I try to stand her up, but to no avail. All of a sudden, Kyle screams at me. "WATCH OUT!"

As I turn around, I see it again! The Black Fire! This time, its much hotter than the Arsonist's flames! It nearly burns everything to a crisp in seconds, and I almost get caught in it! It burns through the ice surrounding the entire battlefield, engulfing everything into a black char. Through the fire, 4 figures emerge.

"What!?" Kyle shouts with notable confusion. The people that walk through are wearing nothing but black cloaks.

"Who are you?" He shouts over to them very loudly.

The one in the front gives a smile behind his black cloak. "Who are we? We're demons!" Chaotic Demons! More of them? What can we do now? I'm exhausted! I can't fight anymore!

All 4 of the demons shoot a giant wave of black fire!

"What!? They all have the same power!?" I shout in confusion, as I teleport back, barely dodging the giant black inferno.

How do they have the same power? I've never heard of multiple Chaotic Demons sharing a power.

"You're Chaotic Demons, huh? How come you have the same power?"

Once again, the one in the middle responds. He seems to be the leader of the group. "You seem to be under a misconception. When I said that we're Demons, you seem to have come to the conclusion that we're Chaotic Demons, humans with superpowers..."

Then, in my absolute shock, they take off the hoods of their cloaks.

From being me, Cold Hearted, who is far too wounded to fight, gives a pathetic groan. "Oh, no! I didn't think they followed us!"

Pure red skin, almost like an entirely different species. Giant black claws. Horns, that rest like antlers upon their heads. These guys weren't lying!!

"We're Demons! REAL DEMONS!"

Holy shit!! "Demons are real!? They aren't just a fairy tale?" I shout in shock and awe. What does this mean? Does Heaven exist? Does Hell exist? How the fuck is this even possible?

"Why... are you looking for that orb?" I ask, trying to stall before they kill me. I know I have no more energy, I can't fight anymore! If these guy's really wanted to, they could kill me right here!

"Of course we are. However, we actually know what it is!"

Apalled, I ask "What's so important about that thing?"

In response to my question, the guy at the start chuckles. "You aren't in the position to ask questions. We're not stupid, like the Chaotic Demons you fought before. We won't just answer any question you ask. Just give us the orb, and we'll let you go!"

Kyle immediately asks me to give the orb to them, but I stop him from talking. Instead, I tell the demons, "If literal demons want this thing, them having it can't lead to anything good! I won't let you have it!"

The 4 Demons start cackling, and they even smile, revealing their sharp, deformed, rotting black teeth. It's an almost ugly sight.

They're gonna kill me! This is it! This is the end.

"WHAT!?" The demons shout, looking at me. What? Why are they scared? No. They're not scared of me, they're scared od what's behind me. Shelby's awake!

From behind me, a glimpse of light surrounds Shelby, as she looks like an angel, shining in light. "Hey, Shelby!" I try to talk to her, but she doesn't respond. "Is she unconscious? I've never seen something like this.

Suddenly, she disappears. A giant blast of explosions follow her wake, and she appears, right in front of one of the demons, ripping them apart, killing them entirely.

The demon at the front screams "Shit! What the hell? This girl has powers?"

As I recall, what was said before. She would one day unlock the power of super speed. It's only been like a week! Some day, my ass. That guy was lying out of his teeth.

Then, she looks at me. "Uh oh!" I shout, as she speeds up at enormous speeds! I might not have any energy to fight back, but I can teleport all day if I chose to! I teleport away, but she's right there again! Damn it! I'm not ready for a fight, but I guess i'll have no choice! I continue to teleport, with her following me at immense speed. Any time, she could kill me. If my reaction time isn't trained enough, i'll certainly die in 1 hit. I can't even fight back! As I slowly start to teleport away, she catches up to me, her fist connecting directly to my chest! "No!" I scream, in anguish and fear. Unfortunately, it hits me as I teleport away. When teleporting away, I look at my chest. There's a giant friction burn to where she slowly grazed me. How is this possible!? She's getting even faster. Do I have no other choice? Do I have to kill her?

No. Let's think of another way. As the giant black fire comes rushing, I barely teleport away, but it hits her instead.

"AAUGH!" She screams in obvious pain & anguish, the black fire surrounding her.

The demons laugh. "This is the primary power of the Demons from Hell! The Holy Fire of Retribution! A flame so hot it burns black. Anyone hit by it is destined to die a horrific death!" Ehat? That doesn't make any sense!

I laugh "Really, she looks alive to me?" I giggle, watching her speed up so fast that the fire is completely ignited. In return, the demon's leader laughs. "Freedom Junkie, you misunderstand. Once hit with this fire, anyone who is not a demon, will be fated to one day die a gruesome and horrific death. Even if they survive the flame, which has been done before, they will not survive the curse the flame inflicts on them." Curse?

"I don't believe in curses, you overgrown red fucks!" I shout, refusing to believe it to be true.

But in my heart, I know there's some element of truth to it. The Cold Hearted's expression says it all. She's afraid of the black fire.

"Hey, kid!" She says, from behind me. "What?" I ask, really hoping she's not gonna try to fight me using her ice again.

"Let's team up!" She shouts

"Team up? You just tried to kill me? What do you gain from it?"

After hearing me say those words, a cross expression comes over her face. "Shut up! You know that you can't survive against speed girl and 3 demons in the state your in right now! You need me. Plus, if you die, these guys'll definitely kill me next!"

I laugh "But you've already been defeated, what can you do?" I ask. "You idiot! I may be out for the count, but I still have 1 last attack under my sleeve. I'm gonna shoot them with a giant hailstorm!!"

Thinking for a second, I decide to respond. "Ok. Let's do it!"

Suddenly, Shelby appears in front of the demons, speeding up rapidly! She screams, as all 3 of the demons surround her with black fire, melting her apart! It's over, she's lost!

Maybe if she were conscious, she could've killed all 3 of them, but with her condition being as poor as it was entering the battle, there was no way she could win.

"Do it! Now! They're distracted!" I shout. She throws the strongest attack that she has, with every ounce of her energy!

The giant blue & white maelstrom of chaos rips through the entire forest, shredding apart everything. One of the demons is trapped in this giant hailstorm of sleet, ice and snow, and dies immediately, while the other 2 prepare to shoot out black fire to destroy it!

And through it, the black fire...

Eats it.

We failed!

The giant blast of frost was nothing compared to their Holy Fire of Retribution! It ripped through everything, completely destroying any hope we had of survival!

"What do we do now?" The Cold Hearted says. In response, I say over to her, smiling ear to ear. "We run!" As I look in her eyes, she realizes what I truly mean!

"You know I don't have the energy to escape! So you're just going to leave me here! You bastard!"

Taking Kyle, I quickly start to escape, while laughing wildly and happily! "Hey look, lady, I fought you before! I know the type of person you are! You're a psychopath who cares for nobody but yourself! You'd abandon me the first chance you got!" I say, giggling with glee at the brilliant situation we've ended up in. Running from demons! So fun!

As I take Kyle to run, we both stop. In front of us, is the girl! The Wild Animal! She was a monster nefore, but now she looks just like a regular girl!

As I gear up to teleport, I scream over to Kyle! "I can't teleport other people with me! We have to keep running!"

Unfortunately, as I say that, I realize it! We're trapped from all angles! The 2 Demons, and even the Wild Animal! Is this it? Am I going to die!

Suddenly, as if to answer my prayers, the girl turns to me, and screams!

"RUN! I'LL HOLD THEM OFF!"
