Chapter 404: Bait for Rescue
As soon as Scorpion's men and Jason's men clashed, a fierce and tragic bloodshed broke out, with casualties on both sides skyrocketing.
Amidst the intense bombardment and the barrage of bullets, people continuously fell, losing their lives.
Jason's warriors, each had been battle-hardened, chosen by Kasam to guard such an important newly captured site, showing Kasam's high regard for Jason.
The warriors around Jason were often engaged in combat with rebels or warlords. It's no exaggeration to say that this was one of Ba Country's most elite forces; whether in terms of weaponry or individual combat capabilities, they were not to be underestimated.
However, facing the Lone Wolf Mercenary Corps, these mercenaries who lick blood off the blade, found themselves somewhat passive at first due to Scorpion's sudden attack catching Jason's men unprepared.
Every member of the Lone Wolf Mercenary Corps was an elite. Being part of Asia's number one dark force demonstrated their exceptional capabilities.
In their hands, even ordinary firearms proved exceedingly more accurate than those used by Jason's side.
Nevertheless, Jason's side did have formidable aspects, namely their armored vehicles and tanks. Equipped with heavy firepower, they erupted with ferocity, showing extraordinary combat and destructive power at an astonishing speed.
The battle quickly entered a stalemate, becoming fierce shortly after it began, with no clear sides winning or losing.
Yet, Scorpion's side maintained a certain advantage. Unable to bring heavy firepower to the battlefield, they leveraged geographical advantages and personal power to deal direct, lethal damage to Jason's men.
"Good, fight like this, fight fiercely. The attack on the east is weak, tell them to intensify their attack. The attack on the west is too strong; tell them not to rush in. We're not here to capture territory, there's no need to charge into the camp," Scorpion directed the battlefield's course while observing the battle progress and issuing commands.
On Jason's side, it was like a fire was lit under them, with officers and soldiers running around frantically.
"Who are they? We don't even know the enemy's identity; how can we fight like this?" Jason furiously shouted at those around him.
An officer reported, "Sir, the enemy's identity is currently unclear, but it's certain that they're not rebels. It seems they deliberately want to hide their identity; there's no indication of who they might be or where they came from."
"Useless! The enemy is right under our noses, yet none of the perimeter guards noticed?" Jason reprimanded angrily, "We were caught off guard without even preparing, this is a colossal failure."
"Colonel Jason, it's not the time to blame people for failures. What should we do?" an officer shouted.
"What else can we do? Relay my orders, smash the enemies fiercely. Anyone who dares to desert will be executed by me personally," Jason commanded forcefully, "Quickly find out the enemy's identity."
"Rest assured, Colonel. I guarantee no one will abandon their post. If any soldier flees, you won't need to act; I'll kill the deserter myself and take their place," someone vowed.
Another person reported, "Colonel, as per your orders, I have contacted everyone on the rebel defense line, and they unanimously reported no rebel attacks or any signs of rebel aggression."
"Strange, the most likely scenario would be the rebels attacking us to reclaim the territory we took," Jason mused, puzzled, "So if the enemy isn't the rebels, who are they?"
"Colonel Jason, should we withdraw some troops from the defense line to collaborate from inside and out, and wipe out these enemies?" suggested a military officer.
"The troops on the defense line must not move, not a single soldier," Jason insisted, "If the enemy is indeed the rebels, they must be waiting for us to reposition our forces. The troops on the defense line are the closest to us, and giving the rebels a chance would mean the loss of all our gains."
Jason had his considerations. Moreover, even if there was a reallocation, it would be too late; seeing the external assault, they might be wiped out before reinforcements could arrive.
He truly feared it was the rebels' plan. If so, they couldn't shift troops even if they were in danger of total annihilation.
"What should we do then? At this rate, we won't hold out long. If we sustain heavy casualties, it would be disastrous. If anything happens to us, the forces defending against the rebels without our leadership will also face major issues," an officer expressed worry.
Jason swept his gaze across everyone present and declared confidently, "What are you afraid of? We have a major ally close by; within ten minutes or so, they'll arrive. Then we'll strike from inside and outside, easily wiping out these bastards in front of us."
The group, recalling the ally Jason mentioned, had their anxious expressions greatly eased.
"Colonel Jason, hurry and call for help," someone urged.
They were all certain that the Chu Group would assist them. In a way, the two parties were tightly bound. Without either, the other would also lack security.
Jason urgently contacted Nami.
Then Nami reached out to Ye Fan and Chu Mengyao.
The development of the situation was precisely as Meng Yinglong had anticipated. During this fierce assault on Jason, an incorrect judgment was that the rebels were invading, thus ensuring that the forces resisting the massive rebel attack wouldn't be redeployed.
Even if troops were redistributed, with Scorpion's attack intensity, there wouldn't be time to rescue Jason.
Therefore, Jason had no choice but to seek help from the Chu Group, which was the sole and wise decision.
If Jason knew that the attack was solely because Meng Yinglong used him as bait to deal with Chu Mengyao and Ye Fan, he would either be extremely frustrated or jump up and down in anger.
"Mr. Ye, President Chu, Jason is under attack. The enemy's firepower is strong; please send people to rescue him quickly," Nami pleaded anxiously.
Nami's words left Ye Fan and Mengyao momentarily stunned, then they muttered, incredulously, "How is that possible?"
