My new life in Hell

Chapter 49: LooLoo Land

(Geri POV)

Today's been pretty slow, not many clients wanted a child or an entire family killed, so we just chilled in the break room waiting for something to happen.

Luna was, as always, manning the front desk while Blitzo was talking with someone.

I got up from the couch I was lounging on and walked to Luna.

"Hey, Luna!"

She got surprised and fell down on her chair.

"You okay, Luna?"

"Yeah… yeah, just got surprised, so what's up?"

"I was just wondering if you wanted to join me for a party that's happening in a few weeks in Gluttony."

"Oh! Oh, sure, I'll be there."

"Great! I'll pick you up at your place."

She nodded and then began to speak.

"Hey, Geri, I was wondering if you have time, wouldn't yo—"

Before she could finish her sentence, Blitzo interrupted.

"Eminem, get in here! We're going to Loo Loo Land!" (Yes, I know it's supposed to be M&M, but I thought it'd be funnier.)

"Loo Loo Land?" Moxxie said, confused.

Then Millie burst through the door with a huge smile. "Loo Loo Land!"

"Loo Loo Land!" Blitzo said with jazz hands.

"Shut the fuck up!" Luna yelled angrily.

I laughed at this and walked toward Blitzo.

"So, why are we going to an off-brand Lulu World?"

"Oh, 'cause Stolas wants us to bodyguard him along with his daughter. Also, he's paying us."

"Wait, Uncle Stolas? Huh... would it be alright if I tagged along with you?"

"Yeah, sure, why not? Just get a suit that doesn't look like a butler's."

I nodded and opened a portal back home and walked in. The portal disappeared, and Luna tried to say something but couldn't say it in time.

"Uhhh, Blitz, why the hell are we taking a bodyguarding job?" she said, a bit annoyed.

"Money."

Luna stared and went back to her seat and started scrolling on her phone.

"How can I tell him that I like him," she said in a whisper.

---

Back with Geri in the hotel.

I was picking up some clothes from the closet until I heard a knock on my door.

"Hey, son."

"Hey, Dad."

"Could I come in?"

"Yeah, sure."

He went inside my room and sat down on the bed.

"Soo... how's your work? You doing okay?"

"Oh… I'm doing fine, Dad. Today isn't that busy, but we did get hired by Uncle Stolas to guard him and his daughter while in Loo Loo Land."

"Why would he go to that shithole? The last time we went there was when we were kids, and as far as I can remember, he didn't enjoy the show and disappeared with Dad after the show."

"Well, he wants us to guard them, so it's not really up to us."

Dad then sighed at his brother's life choices.

"Well, so long as he's there, could you give him this?" He hands me a small box with a letter.

"What's inside?" I asked.

"Well, I've been tinkering in my workshop ever since I got more free time away from your mom's, so I made something special for him."

I looked at the box and nodded.

I then placed the box down on the table and started looking for a proper suit and tie.

"So, what are you looking for?"

"I'm just looking for a proper suit, you know, the kind for like secret agents in the movies we watched."

"Oh… that's easy." He then snapped his fingers and manifested a full set of clothes for me.

"Thanks, Dad. You know you don't have to do that."

"I know. Just making sure you look your best." He then got up and hugged me. He then walked out of the room.

I looked down at the suit he made. It was a three-piece suit with a small engraving with Dad's name.

I picked it up and began changing.

---

Back at the I.M.P.

They were getting ready, and suddenly a portal opened.

"Hey guys, I'm back."

"Right on time. We'll be picking up Stolas with his daughter later, and we're off to Loo Loo Land!"

"Sir, are you sure we need to change into suits? We're just bodyguarding?" Moxxie said.

"Of course! We need to look professional and hot!"

Moxxie stared and left with a confused face.

A few minutes passed, and we all got ready and headed out.

"Bye, Lunny! Hold down the fort!" Blitzo says.

"Whatever." Luna replied.

"See ya, Luna," I said.

"Oh... okay... see ya." she said with a blush.

We headed out and entered the van.

After driving for a few minutes, we finally reached Uncle Stolas' estate. He was standing in front of the mansion wearing Loo Loo Land merch with a huge smile on his face.

"Oh, Via! They're here!"

Then an owl girl came out of the mansion looking a bit disgruntled.

"Dad, why are we actually doing this?"

"As I said, Via, we're going to Loo Loo Land to have fun! Just the two of us!"

"A bit counterproductive with all the bodyguards."

"Oh, come now, Via, this is going to be fun!"

She sighed and reluctantly followed her dad into the van.

"Hey," she said to me.

"Hey, cuz."

She looked at me, confused.

"Wait, are you one of my cousins? Why are you a hellhound?"

"Heh… can't say I blame you for not knowing. We never actually met. Well, to keep it simple, my dad's Stygian—your dad's twin."

"Oh shit, really? Didn't know Uncle Stygian had kids. Wait, were you one of those eggs that uncle had when I was younger?"

"Yup, that's me."

"...Cool."

After a while, we started talking and getting to know each other.

Stolas opened a portal to Greed and drove through it. We then landed in Loo Loo Land without a problem.

We all got out of the van, and Blitzo looked for a parking spot.

We then walked inside the theme park, guarding them from the side.

"Now, this is strictly business, so—" Blitzo says.

"Uh, Dad, why—" Octavia gets interrupted.

"Not now, sweetie. If you try fucking my little ass, I swear to Satan."

"You are so cute when you are serious," Stolas says.

"I think I'm going to be sick," Octavia says.

"Oh shit, what do you need? Antacids, ibuprofen, morphine?" He pulls out way too many needles.

"It was figurative, old man."

"Oh, okay." He threw the needles at a child, barely missing him.

I then walked up to her to talk to her.

"Hey, cuz. You doing okay?"

"Not really. Dad's flirting with his boytoy again. I just wanted to relax in my room and wallow in my depression."

"Okay… so, want to do anything while you're here at least?"

"Aren't you supposed to be bodyguarding?"

"Don't worry about Uncle. Looks like he's having fun." I then pointed to Stolas having fun while Blitzo protects him from a bunch of imps.

She looked at her dad and sighed.

"You know what, I actually wanted to try some of the rides here. Let's go."

"Aren't you gonna tell your dad where you're going?"

"It's fine. Not like he'll care or anything." She said the last part to herself.

---

Octavia and I then started riding the different rides available in the theme park and having fun. She would occasionally ask questions on why I'm working as an assassin if I'm rich.

I told her that a friend of mine wanted me to join them in their dad's business, and I accepted because at that time I didn't know what I wanted.

And that after working with Blitzo for a while, I found it. I enjoy helping the sinners who were wronged during the time they were alive by people who were worse than them, and that by giving them what they wanted, they could change their view on life and maybe try to become better people.

Octavia laughed a bit at my story but understood where I was coming from.

She then explained that she always wanted to become a designer and make different clothes.

We talked for hours about our dreams and aspirations until we started talking about our parents.

"You know, Geri, you're lucky."

"Why's that?"

"You have parents who love and care for each other, while I… it doesn't matter."

"Come on, Octavia… you can tell me."

"It's just that every time I try and talk to Dad, he's always deflecting, never giving straight answers, always…" Tears started to slowly form.

I hugged her tightly, letting her cry into me.

"Why can't he just love me like he used to!"

She continued to cry in my arms, wishing her dad cared about her like my dad did for me.

After a while, she finally calmed down, and we sat on one of the benches.

"You feeling better?"

"Yeah… thanks for that."

"Anytime."

We sat there in silence for a while until I finally spoke and broke it.

"You know, if you're having problems with your dad, you could always talk with him about it."

"I try, but he's usually too busy fighting with Mom."

"Well, she's not here right now."

She looked at me, a bit hopeful.

"Are you sure he'll listen?"

"He's your dad. What dad would ignore his own daughter?"

She smiled and hugged me, feeling grateful for the encouragement.

The moment was then suddenly interrupted by a large explosion from the circus tent, and we saw three figures flying in the air, a bit singed.

It was Blitzo, Moxxie, and Millie. They were all a bit burned but ultimately fine. Octavia let go of the hug, and I got up from the bench.

I got into position and jumped high into the air, catching them mid-air and landing right beside Octavia.

"Way to ruin another good thing, sir," Moxxie said.

"Worth it! That slutty toy clown had it coming!" Blitzo said, then passed out in my arms.

I laughed at their antics and placed them down on the bench I was sitting on.

Octavia looked at them and laughed a bit. Then she noticed her dad looking a bit haggard.

"Via! Oh, my little owlet! I'm so glad you're safe!" he said, hugging her tightly.

"I'm fine, Dad. I… actually had fun today."

"You did?"

"Yeah. Geri helped." She pointed to me.

Stolas then looked at me, grateful. "Thank you, nephew."

I nodded at him and accepted the thanks.

We all started walking back to the van with Octavia still in Stolas' arms, and Blitzo, Moxxie, and Millie in mine, still passed out.

I then looked at Octavia, signaling to talk with her father.

She looked a bit reluctant but ultimately did.

"Hey, Dad. I know now's not the best time, but could we talk… just the two of us?"

"Of course, my dear."

Stolas then carried Octavia to a small bench near the parking lot, and they talked.

"Dad… do you still love me?"

"Of course! What would ever possess you to say or think that?"

"You've never once taken interest in the things I like. You always avoid talking about Mom, and… you're never home anymore. You're always at work, and I think… you're avoiding me."

"Of course not, Via! I just… can't… I don't know. Your mother… I'm sorry, I just don't have the words."

Via then hugged her dad.

"It's okay, Dad. I understand," she said, hugging him.

Stolas then hugged her back, crying a bit.

"You know, Via, if you want, we can go somewhere you like."

"Could we go to Stylish Occult? I heard they have weird taxidermy there."

"Uhhh… of course, dear."

"Hehe, thanks, Dad. You're okay sometimes."

"Thank you, dear." He then picked her up and carried her to the van.

"Uhhh, Dad, I can walk, you know."

"I know."

Octavia sighed and rolled her eyes at the response but smiled at her dad's care for her.

I placed the unconscious imps in the van and got into the driver's seat.

"Yo, cuz! You getting in yet?"

"Yeah, wait up!"

They got in the van and asked me to drive them to Stylish Occult. I nodded and opened a portal to the Pride Ring and started driving.

As I started to drive, I remembered that I had to give Uncle Stolas a gift from Dad.

So after reaching the store, I pulled out a small box from my bag and gave it to Stolas.

"What's this?"

Stolas asked, a bit confused.

"It's a gift from Dad. Don't know what's inside, though."

"Oh, dear brother gave it? I'll open it once I get home. Please pass along my thanks to him later, nephew."

I nodded and headed back to the car and waited by the van.

Today was a good day.
