My new Journey through the realms

Chapter 20: Chapter 20 Finding a way out

With Rex and the group heading out to get the pieces for Rex's parents Dantians. They decided to first stock up on some basic camping essentials.

"We need this and that." Rex pointed behind the counter.

"You got it. What else for you?"

Rex went around and got a few more supplies. Mainly food, extra tents, and an extra set of cooking ware.

With everything out the total became 15 silvers. Rex had to get money from his guardians but Rex told them that he would pay them back. The girls argued about it. Rex gave them the 'I'm not taking no for an answer' look.

They just kept their arguments to themselves and did not want anything else to happen. With Rex's parents knowing a decent amount of stuff from the girls. Liz and Iris did not want anything bad to happen. Margaret, Amber, and Violet just stood behind the girls thinking.

Before the group was ready to head out.

"HELP! PLEASE SEND SOME HELP!"

Rex and the group headed to where the call of help was being shouted.

Arriving at the scene, several people circled a couple of really beaten men. The clothing was just barely enough to cover themselves the holes that were ripped could have a hand inside with the palm opened.

The men explained that several people in dark black cloaks were seen near the mountains. Someone heard that they were searching for a man who took their egg. He was a body cultivator, the axe had a dragon symbol on it, and he looked really old.

Rex hearing the news immediately understood who it was. He was glad that he managed to take control of the egg. If not, then the worse possible outcome would come through.

"Where are they now?" An elderly person asked.

The men looked at each other and lowered their heads.

"They went and did what they wanted to a village outside the mountains. We barely managed to escape there. There were nearly thirty of them."

The men felt completely guilty but they also felt a sense of accomplishment for being able to try and get some help.

"I do not remember the Wyvern Quest like this but maybe it has to do with how I came back?" Rex pondered.

Rex looked at his guardians and parents. He knew if he told them that this was his Main Quest they would let him go but follow him. So he decided to take another approach.

"My group and I will travel to the village. My parents and guardians will do whatever they can to help the villagers. If anyone else you can see is not in the village. I will deal with them myself."

Rex held a good impression of himself. He knew if his ability worked out of this game. He should be able to go even faster than here.

Liz and Iris both got hot. Steam gushing and fire crackling was the noises that were heard. A holy incantation was put on the water, to turn it into Holy Steam. It actually had a calming effect. A dark incantation was put on the fire and turned it into a small hellfire. Where the Holy Steam calmed, the Hellfire ate away at people's souls.

Everyone stepped away from the Holy Steam and Hellfire. They became too nervous to even try and get in-between the war that was about to happen.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU WILL HANDLE IT?!" Liz was furious.

Rex felt the heat off his back. He wanted to just ask for forgiveness but he could not. He did not want to always rely on the guardians. He mostly relied on the guardians and their families.

He wanted nothing more than to just accept reality and push forward. He could not just push when he had everyone close to him.

"I said, 'I would deal with anyone not in the village.' By that I mean what I say. You all will have to take care of the elderly, children, and women. My parents will help the married couples who lost children or the families that got torn apart. Even though I should help them recover, the best thing I can do is help hunt down the people who caused the disaster."

Hearing Rex's explanation, Liz knew he was telling the truth. Iris did not want to believe that he could plan so far in advance. Margaret and Amber both felt something off about Rex. Violet was just vibing and enjoying the show in front of her.

The group got a few more new cultivators and they all headed to the village. It was not long before night fell.

"We need to set up camp." Rex announced.

No one dared to fight against Rex. Taking the time to set up camp properly took a little longer. No one was worried about the beasts that could come in.

Most of them were just normal beasts that the fire would scare off. Even on the off chance that one did become a magical beast. They would be instantly hunted.

With nothing else to worry about, Rex started cooking. All the men just stared at Rex cooking. They wondered why he cooked and not the women around him or his parents.

"It won't be anything fancy but a decent stew will do for a big group." Rex spoke.

Once Rex cut up some meat, he began to cook it, then he added spices and cut up vegetables. Finishing the stew, Rex took a quick bite of it. Tasting that it was truly done.

"Come eat." Rex commanded.

Shortly before he finished one bowl, Rex's parents were the first ones in line. Followed by Iris and Liz fighting over third and fourth. Margaret and Amber both stood side by side for fifth and sixth. Violet was seventh. The rest of the group just waited until the people in front finished. They had no means to fight any of the girls.

Filling everyone's stomach up, Rex took a moment to relax and form a plan.

"Once everyone goes to their own tents and goes to sleep. I will use that opportunity to sneak out and," Before Rex could finish his plan.

"Son. We need to talk." Rex's father entered.

Rex did not dare to finish his thoughts. He just accepted the fact that he would just do what he needed afterwards.

Rex's father sat down beside Rex. Rex had the feeling that this talk was something his guardians had made up.

"Son, I know you do not want the girls put into danger. I would not ask you to put them in danger either. As men, we should bear the burden of protecting the girls. Sometimes you have to ask for help."

Rex figured that this was the part where his father would tell him to apologize to his guardians and allow them to help him out.

"So with that being said. Son, why don't you and I go see if there are any of those black cloaked people in the mountains?"

Rex did not even see that coming. He knew that his father would usually tease him about stuff like this. Seeing how serious he was being. Rex knew his father would do everything in his power to help.

"Sure let's go when everyone is asleep."
