My National Boyfriend

Chapter 19: chapter 19

CONVENIENCE STORE

The neon lights of the city flicker to life as dusk settles in. Y/N walks down the block, the streets lively but calm. Her eyes scan the shelves of the convenience store before she grabs:

• Spicy instant ramen cup

• Coconut water

• A pack of seaweed rice balls

• Peppermint lozenges (for her still-sore throat)

She pays at the counter, hugging the warm ramen cup on the way out.

Y/N :

Just what I needed. Some spice to wake up my soul.

Y/N walks back quietly, steam rising from the ramen in the bag she carries. She gently opens the door to her room.

Rabin is still there, lying on his side. But now… his eyes are slightly open. Watching.

Rabin (groggily):

"You went out?"

Y/N freezes mid-step like she's been caught sneaking out by a parent.

Y/N:

"Yeah… I was craving something spicy."

Rabin sits up, squinting at her bag.

Rabin: "Why didn't you wake me up?"

Y/n smirked, not even looking at him:

"It's nice to see the drama king go quiet for once."

Rabin scoffed, brushing his messy hair back.

"Tch. What did you buy?"

She casually held out the convenience store bag in front of him.

"You want something?" she asked.

He peeked inside, eyes lighting up.

"Rice ball?" he asked hopefully.

Without saying a word, she reached in and handed it to him.

Their fingers brushed for a second.

"Thanks," he muttered, softer than expected.

Y/n raised a brow. "Hm? For the rice ball?"

He looked away, peeling open the wrapper.

"For everything," he said under his breath.

Rabin glanced at her as he took a bite of the rice ball.

"Feeling better?" he asked, his voice quieter than usual.

Y/n leaned back against the couch, sipping her coconut water.

"Yup," she replied softly, her eyes not quite meeting his.

A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

"Good."

Silence settled between them for a beat. Not awkward this time—just… calm.

She finally looked at him.

"You?"

He raised an eyebrow, amused.

"Me?"

Y/n shrugged. "You slept like a rock. Thought I'd need to check your pulse."

Rabin chuckled. "I was exhausted. Taking care of a stubborn assistant is not easy."

Y/n rolled her eyes but smiled anyway.

"Drama king strikes again."

He nudged her playfully with his shoulder.

"And proud."

The sunlight seeped through the curtains, casting a soft glow on the hotel corridor. Y/n stood at Rabin's door, dressed casually in wide-leg joggers, a fitted top, and a flowy white cardigan that danced with the breeze from the hallway. She knocked twice.

Rabin opened the door, already dressed in his simple, clean look—cargo pants, sneakers, and a black cap slightly tilted. Casual yet camera-ready.

They walked down the bustling Seoul street, the morning crowd just beginning to stir. Y/n held the GoPro steadily, aiming it toward Rabin as he turned to the camera with a smile that could melt every viewer watching on YouTube.

Rabin (smiling brightly):

"Hello everyone! This is Rabin Angeles. I'll be touring around Seoul today… so come with me!"

Y/n tried not to laugh behind the camera. He was naturally good at this now.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a folded piece of paper. Written all over it were names of nearby localities, eateries, and hidden gems—suggestions from fans and locals alike.

Rabin:

"To make it fun, I'm not going to choose. I'll leave it to fate."

He closed his eyes, shuffled the paper a little, then randomly pointed.

Y/n:

"Okaayyy… let's see where our superstar's finger landed…"

The camera zoomed in to the name.

Rabin (grinning):

"We're going to… Ikseon-dong Alley! Sounds cool, right?"

Y/n (behind camera):

"That place has vintage shops and cozy cafés. It's perfect for someone with your 'vintage soul.'"

Rabin (laughing):

"Did you just call me old?"

They both chuckled as they began walking toward the subway station.

Scene: Arrival at Ikseon-dong Alley – Late Morning

📸 VLOG MODE | POV: Y/N behind the camera

The alley opens up like a hidden gem—narrow paths winding through restored hanok houses, each corner kissed by modern cafés, indie boutiques, and retro-style snack bars. It smells like roasted coffee, warm bread, and hints of tteokbokki from a nearby stall.

Rabin (walking in, looking around):

"Woah… it's like stepping into another time but with WiFi."

Y/n (chuckling behind the camera):

"That's why people say Ikseon-dong is where Seoul meets Seoulmate vibes."

Cut to Rabin pointing at a vintage store

The sign reads: "달빛서점 – Moonlight Books."

Rabin:

"Can we go in there? I love the smell of old books."

Inside the bookstore, the air is cool and smells like aged paper. Rabin runs his fingers along the spines of books, picks one, and reads a quote aloud in Korean (with a little struggle and a shy glance at Y/n).

Rabin (reading):

"삶은 잠시 멈춤이 필요하다… Life needs a pause sometimes."

Y/n (softly):

"Maybe this is your pause."

📍Next Cut: Dessert Café – "Madang Flower Tea"

They enter a tiny café with flower tea, handmade cakes, and aesthetic seating on floor cushions. The lighting is warm and golden.

Rabin (vlogging to the camera):

"I ordered lavender milk tea and this tiny little cake with a flower on top. This is too pretty to eat."

Rabin and Y/N are walking out of the café, laughing softly. He's holding a half-finished lavender tea while Y/N is still adjusting the GoPro.

A group of three teenage girls spot him — eyes wide, covering their mouths in shock.

Fan 1 (whispers loudly):

"Is that… Rabin Angeles??"

Fan 2:

"Omo! It's really him—look at the dimple!"

They approach shyly.

Fan 3 (nervously):

"Oppa… can we take a photo? Just one?"

Rabin (with his usual charming grin):

"Of course. Let's make it a good one."

He crouches slightly for the group selfie, flashes his fan-service smile. One of the fans fumbles her phone, Y/N casually steps in, takes the photo for them without a word, then hands it back with a small smile.

Fan 1 (to Y/N):

"Are you his girlfriend?" 😳

Y/N (caught off guard):

"No! Just… my assistant ."

Fan 2:

"Wahhh… unnie, please take care of our Rabin."

Rabin (teasing):

"Yeah, she needs to take care of me more, right?"

Fans giggle, wave goodbye, and walk off whispering.

As Rabin and Y/N walk again:

Rabin (quietly):

"You didn't deny it that hard."

Y/N (rolls eyes, mutters):

"You're delusional."

📍Next Cut: Trying Street Food – Tteokgalbi Skewers & Hotteok

Outside, Rabin tries tteokgalbi skewers and hotteok (sweet pancakes) from a hanok-style food stall.

Rabin (mouth full):

"This… is illegal. It's too good."

He offers a bite to the camera, then turns it to Y/n.

📍Last Cut: Sunset Alley Walk

As the sky turns golden-pink, the lanterns along the alley flicker on. Soft indie music plays from a hidden café window.

Rabin to GoPro:

"This is Rabin Angeles. Thank you for walking with me today. I hope your day feels warm, even through the screen."

They're not talking anymore—just walking side by side, with the GoPro capturing the candid silence.
