Chapter 631: Purifying the World Tree's Source of Vitality

Meanwhile, outside, the war between the Elves and Dark Elves raged on. The tension thickened as casualties mounted on both sides.

"Kill them! Those bastards deserve to die!"

The fierce cry of an Elven soldier reignited the fighting spirit of his comrades.

"Let's go, everyone! Wipe out those elves and reclaim the land that's rightfully ours!"

Not to be outdone, a Dark Elf soldier shouted back, his voice fueling the fury of his comrades.

The already intense battle grew even more savage, and chaos spread relentlessly across the battlefield.

"Are you feeling better, Thalon? Still in pain?"

Leyna looked at Thalon, who lay on the bed, his body wrapped in bandages.

"I'm better, Leyna. Thank you," Thalon replied softly. He tried to move, but pain surged through his body, making his brow tighten in discomfort.

Leyna quickly frowned and held him down. "Don't move. Your wounds haven't fully healed yet."

Thalon didn't resist and only let out a weary sigh. Not long ago, he had been a strong and fearless general.

But ever since the black-cloaked man left him with that fatal wound, he had become as weak as a child—and it frustrated him deeply.

"Huh..." Leyna slowly stood up, her expression serious. "Take care of yourself. You're one of the pillars of our race. If you end up permanently injured—or worse—it would be a terrible loss for all of us."

"You're right." Thalon gave a slow nod. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine. Don't worry about it," Leyna said. "I'll go check on the other wounded soldiers."

Thalon responded with a faint nod.

After making sure he was resting comfortably, Leyna turned and stepped out of the tent.

But she didn't get far. Just a few steps toward the next tent, her feet stopped in place as something in the sky caught her eye.

The once bright, sunlit sky darkened as pitch-black clouds appeared from nowhere, swiftly engulfing the entire sky above the Forest of Eternal Silence.

"What's going on? Is it about to rain?" Leyna murmured, her voice filled with doubt.

*Whoosh!*

Stormy winds surged in from all directions, making her body sway.

She raised her arms to shield her face as her hood was blown off, letting her long hair stream freely in the wind.

"This isn't just a storm..." she whispered, her voice tight with tension.

Her eyes lifted to the sky, where flashes of red, black, and blue lightning tore through the clouds—a terrifying sight.

"Something terrible is about to happen to all of us…"

***

On the northern side of the World Tree, there was a narrow, hidden passage—just wide enough for two people to walk side by side.

It wasn't built from concrete, stone, or any artificial material. Instead, it had formed naturally from the intertwined roots of the World Tree.

As a result, sunlight filtered through the narrow gaps between the roots, casting shifting patterns of light along the path below.

"Is it much farther, Zelda?" Leon asked.

"No," she replied, shaking her head with a gentle smile. "We're almost there."

Leon gave a quiet nod, choosing not to ask anything more.

Just as Zelda had said, it wasn't far. About a hundred meters ahead, a large, towering gate loomed into view.

They stopped before it, and Leon's curiosity was obvious.

"Was this gate built by the Elven race?"

"Yes, we built it," Zelda said softly. "After the World Tree's source of vitality was corrupted by dark power, we built this gate to contain it."

She hesitated, regret flickering in her voice. "But honestly, our efforts were only partially successful. The corruption has spread beyond the source—into the branches and trunk. That's why the air and water around here have become tainted."

"Still, at the very least, the gate prevents it from spreading even farther."

With that, Zelda stepped forward and placed her right hand on the gate.

*Creaaak… Thud!*

The massive gate shuddered before slowly swinging open.

Leon's eyes widened in shock at the sight beyond.

"Is that… the World Tree's source of vitality?"

At first, Leon hadn't known what to expect, but now he saw it clearly—a massive, egg-shaped core.

The egg was enormous, easily a hundred to two hundred meters tall.

The tree's roots wrapped tightly around it, as if shielding it naturally.

It was pale white and emitted a faint, gentle glow.

But a large crack split its center, from which dark power oozed, corrupting its beauty.

Most terrifying of all, the dark power's intensity rivaled what he had seen in the black lake.

"Yes, that is the World Tree's source of vitality," Zelda said, her face etched with pain and distress.

The damage to this source had sparked the disasters that plagued both the Elven race and the World Tree itself.

As she recalled everything, a wave of anger and hatred toward the Evil God washed over her.

"All right, I'll begin the purification. Please watch my back, Zelda," Leon said seriously.

"Leave it to me," Zelda said with firm determination.

Leon stepped forward, stopping about five meters from the source.

Even standing nearby, the suffocating aura of death and hatred from the dark power pressed heavily on him.

An ordinary person might have lost their mind just being here—but not Leon.

He slowly sat cross-legged, closed his eyes, and pressed his palms together.

"Please lend me your strength, Miranda," he whispered softly.

"Of course, Master," Miranda's gentle voice echoed in his mind.

*Buzz!*

Holy power burst from his body, glowing intensely.

Seconds later, chaos power surged forth, merging with the holy energy in a crackling harmony that charged the air around him.

Because the World Tree's source of vitality was enormous—and the dark power within rivaled that of the Black Lake—Leon had to unleash holy and chaos powers far greater than ever before.

As before, the dark power fought back fiercely.

But Leon was no stranger to such massive purifying battles; he showed no sign of hesitation or retreat.

After fifteen minutes, the process was complete. Leon opened his eyes with a satisfied smile.

"It worked..."

*Buzz!*

The World Tree's source of vitality, once dim, now radiated a bright white light.

The cracks on its surface were visibly healing.

"That's amazing! The World Tree's vitality source has been restored!" Zelda exclaimed excitedly from behind.

Before Leon could stand, she hugged him tightly.

"Leon, thank you! Because of you, our race's greatest crisis is finally over!"

Her embrace was so tight that her large breasts pressed against Leon's face, making it hard to breathe.

He gently patted her arms, signaling her to let go.

Recovering from her excitement, Zelda quickly stepped back, her face flushed.

"I-I'm sorry, Leon. I... got carried away," she said, scratching her blushing cheeks.

Leon chuckled silently and stood up, then changed the subject.

"In that case, let's move. I'm sure the Evil God's consciousness will manifest soon."

Zelda was about to reply when the ground beneath them suddenly shook violently, like a powerful earthquake.

Leon's expression hardened as he stared coldly at the cracks spreading through the World Tree's roots.

"They're finally coming..."
