Chapter 36: 36: A Date?
The two teens walked mere inches apart and as they neared the school gates, Aiden glanced at Toru, a small smirk playing on his lips. He could feel her lingering excitement after their earlier conversation, and an idea popped into his head. With a casual tone but bold intent, he said, "Hey, Toru... I've been thinking."
Toru tilted her head curiously, her uniform shifting. "What's up?"
Aiden ran a hand through his messy dreadlocks, trying to appear nonchalant(cool guy). "Well, you know how I'm still pretty new to this area... and I could use someone to show me around. I figure, why not someone who knows the cool spots? And, maybe we could call it a date?"
Toru stopped dead in her tracks, and if she were visible, she would've looked like a deer caught in headlights. "A... A date?" Her voice wavered with disbelief.
Aiden grinned, nodding. "Yeah. I mean, you know the place better than I do, and it's always better to explore with someone fun, right?"
Toru's clothes shifted awkwardly, and if her face were visible, it would have been bright red. "You... you're serious?"
Aiden chuckled softly. "Dead serious. What do you say?"
Toru hesitated for a moment, her mind racing. She had never been asked out before—let alone by someone like Aiden, who could actually see her. She felt her heart pounding in her chest, a mix of shock, excitement, and nerves flooding her thoughts.
"I-I mean, sure! But… you really want to go with me?" she stammered, still in disbelief.
Aiden looked at her with that same confident smile. "Why wouldn't I? You're fun, cool, and like I said, beautiful. So, is it a yes?"
Toru's invisible form seemed to tremble as she let out a tiny giggle. "Y-Yes! Okay... yeah, I'd love to!"
Aiden flashed a warm smile. "Great! It's a date then. You can plan it, and I'll be ready whenever."
Toru's heart fluttered, her mind spinning with thoughts of where to take him. As they walked through the gates of the school together, she couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of happiness—a feeling she hadn't experienced in a long time.
...
Toru walked alongside Aiden, still trying to process what had just happened. Her invisible hands fidgeted nervously, and her footsteps were slightly erratic, betraying her bubbling excitement.
She'd never thought anyone, especially someone as confident and cool as Aiden, would ask her on a date. It felt unreal.
"So, um... any ideas where you might want to go?" she asked, her voice a mix of shyness and eagerness.
Aiden pondered for a moment, his violet eyes glancing upward. "Hmm, surprise me. I trust your judgment," he said with a playful grin. "I'll leave all the planning to you."
Toru giggled softly, her invisible form practically bouncing with excitement. "Okay! I'll make sure it's a day you won't forget!"
As they continued walking towards the school building, Aiden noticed a few of their classmates giving them curious glances.
From their perspective, it probably looked like Aiden was just talking to floating clothes, which wasn't exactly a new sight with Toru, but the easygoing smile on Aiden's face had caught their attention.
"So... Aiden," Toru began, her voice a bit softer now, "you really weren't joking about seeing me, huh?"
Aiden shook his head, his expression sincere. "No joke. I've been able to see you since I got here. And, you know, I kinda think it's a privilege. Most people don't get to see how awesome you really are."
Toru felt a warmth spread through her chest at his words. It was something no one had ever told her before, and it made her feel... seen, in more ways than one.
"Thank you," she said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper. "It means a lot to me."
Before they could continue, the school bell rang, signalling the start of classes. Aiden's carefree expression shifted into one of mild disappointment. "Guess we better hurry up. Don't wanna be late."
"Yeah, let's go!" Toru replied, the energy in her voice returning as they quickened their pace.
As they entered the classroom, some of their classmates noticed them coming in together. Mina grinned knowingly while Sero raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued by Aiden's interaction with Toru.
Aiden took his seat, giving Toru a small nod before focusing on the front of the room.
Toru, on the other hand, sat at her desk, still slightly flushed, her mind racing with thoughts of their upcoming date.
Throughout the day, Toru couldn't help but steal glances at Aiden, her mind swirling with excitement and nervousness. The idea of spending time with someone who actually saw her—not just her floating clothes, but *her*—felt surreal.
Aiden, meanwhile, remained calm and collected, his thoughts only briefly wandering to the fun they would have exploring the city.
He could feel the excitement bubbling in Toru, and it made him even more curious about what this date would bring.

The third lesson of the day was just getting underway when an unexpected knock on the door interrupted the class. The teacher paused mid-sentence, and all heads turned towards the door. Moments later, Principal Nezu strolled in, his signature grin stretched wide across his small face. The classroom buzzed with murmurs of curiosity.
"Good morning, students!" Nezu greeted in his usual chipper tone. "I have some exciting news for all of you. We have yet another transfer student joining us today!"
A collective murmur of surprise swept through the class. Another transfer student? It wasn't too long ago that Aiden had arrived, and now someone new?
The door opened, and a tall, elegant figure stepped through. She had long black hair with a few locks of white, and a regal presence that immediately commanded attention. Dressed immaculately in the UA uniform, she moved with a grace that made everyone sit up straighter. The room seemed to quiet in her presence, and there was an air of formality that followed her.
"I am Celeste," she said with a voice smooth as silk, bowing her head lightly to the class. But then, her eyes flickered towards Aiden, and her expression shifted into something mischievous. With a flourish, she walked over to Aiden's desk, her steps deliberate and graceful.
When she reached him, she gave a deep, exaggerated bow, her voice dripping with playfulness. "My prince," she said, the emphasis on the word unmistakable, "it is an honour to be in your presence once again."
The room froze. Even though they knew about Aiden's royal lineage, seeing someone refer to him as 'prince' in such a public way was enough to send the class into a stunned silence. Eyes darted between Celeste and Aiden, the tension thick.
Mina gasped, half-excited, half-scandalised. "Wait, is she... serious?" she whispered to Kirishima, who scratched his head in confusion.
Kaminari blinked, dumbfounded. "I thought we were done with all the prince stuff!"
Even Bakugou, who was always hard to impress, grunted in annoyance, rolling his eyes at the dramatics.
Aiden, sitting at his desk, groaned softly, rubbing his temple. "Celeste," he muttered, clearly exasperated, "we've talked about this."
Celeste straightened up, a sly grin playing on her lips. "Oh, I know. But where's the fun if I don't remind everyone?"
A chorus of giggles and murmurs erupted in the classroom. Mina practically bounced in her seat. "This is so much better than a regular introduction!"
Toru, on the other hand, felt a pit form in her stomach. As she watched Celeste interact so casually with Aiden, calling him my prince, a wave of insecurity washed over her. She hadn't realised how much hearing that title from someone else would sting. She clenched her invisible hands, her form tense as she glanced between the two. Who was this girl? And why did she seem so comfortable around Aiden?
Toru's thoughts began to spiral. They clearly had a past, one full of familiarity and inside jokes. Did that mean there was more to their relationship? A part of her wondered if her earlier excitement about Aiden asking her out had been premature. Her confidence wavered.
She stole a glance at Aiden, hoping for a sign that this new girl wasn't as important as she feared. But when she saw Aiden's slight smirk in response to Celeste's antics, her heart sank a little.
Meanwhile, Mina leaned toward Toru with a knowing grin. "Toru, what do you think? She's kind of intense, huh?"
Toru forced a laugh, though it came out weaker than she intended. "Yeah, intense…" she trailed off, her mind too preoccupied with her growing doubts.
Kirishima, oblivious to the tension, leaned forward. "So, is she like... a royal guard or something?"
Aiden, trying to end the spectacle, sighed. "She's not my guard, Kirishima. She's just... someone from home."
Celeste tilted her head, feigning offence. "Just someone from home? You wound me, Aiden."
The students laughed again, but Toru couldn't join in. Her mind was too wrapped up in her own thoughts, wondering just how close Aiden and Celeste really were.
Despite the jokes and theatrics, Aiden caught the subtle shift in Toru's mood. He glanced her way, noticing the slight tension in her posture, her form visible only to him. He frowned briefly, realising that Celeste's arrival might have thrown her off.
As the teacher finally regained control of the class and urged everyone to settle down, Aiden made a mental note to talk to Toru later.
He knew her well enough to sense that something was bothering her, and he wasn't about to let her doubt where his interests lay.
