My Hero Academia: Thunder God

Chapter 266: Chapter 265: Sneak Up?

In the dimly lit monitoring room, the number of students watching the battles had grown significantly. Tetsutetsu, Kirishima, Tokoyami, Asui, and others who had finished their exams had gathered again to observe.

"I'm getting anxious..." Iida suddenly spoke, his face serious as he focused on the dozens of screens in front of them.

"Yeah, the exam time limit is almost up," Midoriya muttered worriedly, his hands gripping tightly enough to turn white.

Everyone's attention was locked onto the screens displaying Uraraka and Aoyama's test when, quietly, the door behind them creaked open.

It was Kaminari.

He glanced around before locking his sights on Kyoka's back. A mischievous grin spread across his face as he slowly crept forward with light steps.

His plan? To sneakily grab his girlfriend's hand while no one was paying attention, hehe.

However, just as Kaminari reached out his right hand, about to seize his target—

"Look! Uraraka and Aoyama are making a big move!"

Tetsutetsu suddenly shouted, drawing everyone's attention to the monitors. Instinctively, Kaminari turned to look at the screens as well, momentarily distracted from his mission.

---

Inside the exam field, Uraraka and Aoyama were panting, pressed against the side of a building, while keeping a wary eye on Thirteen, who was patrolling the concrete road.

Aoyama wiped the sweat from his forehead before flicking his golden bangs out of his face. With a theatrical smile, he said, "So, what now? It looks like we're failing. Time must be almost up."

Uraraka turned to him, exasperated. "Aoyama-san, why do you not seem worried at all?"

She couldn't tell if he had nerves of steel or if he just genuinely didn't care about their results. Either way, his carefree attitude made her, someone desperately trying to strategize, feel utterly speechless.

"In moments of crisis, one must remain poised and elegant!" Aoyama declared, tilting his chin up as he dramatically swished his glittering purple cape.

"Why is it that when you say something so inspiring, it just sounds suspicious?" Uraraka inwardly groaned.

Shaking off her irritation, she refocused on their objective. "Either way, we managed to complete the first step of the plan."

She turned her attention back to Thirteen, watching the pro hero carefully.

"Huh? There was a plan?" Aoyama blinked, staring at the back of Uraraka's head before realization dawned on him. "Oh, wait! You mentioned something about leading Thirteen away from the exit, right?"

"Exactly. Only by luring Thirteen away from the gate do we have a chance to escape and pass the exam," Uraraka explained, keeping her voice low.

"So that was our strategy… I thought we were just trying to dodge Thirteen's Quirk!"

"You were dodging, barely. And your laser got sucked into Thirteen's fingers so fast that it didn't even buy me a second of cover," Uraraka sighed, shaking her head.

"Uh…" Aoyama looked a little embarrassed. He touched the tip of his nose before awkwardly asking, "So… what's next? Since the first step is done, there must be a second step, right?"

Despite his outwardly nonchalant attitude, he did want to pass the exam, he just didn't like showing it.

"There is!"

Uraraka nodded firmly. "We have to work together for this next part. Whether we pass or fail depends on this moment!"

---

Back in the monitoring room, Kaminari, Midoriya, and the others were startled to see Uraraka suddenly wrap her arms around Aoyama from behind.

First, she touched herself. Then, she touched Aoyama. And then—grabbing him by the waist—the two of them began floating upwards along the wall of the high-rise building.

Everyone watching quickly understood their plan. But before Kaminari could register Kyoka standing behind him, he noticed Midoriya's expression shifting slightly, as if something felt… unnatural.

Kyoka, however, was too absorbed in the screen to question it further.

---

Now floating high above the building, Uraraka could see Thirteen still scanning the area below.

"Aoyama-san!!"

"It's time!"

"Fire now!!!"

Aoyama, still internally struggling with both his fear of heights and the very close proximity to Uraraka, was suddenly snapped out of it by her urgent voice.

"Ah? Oh!"

"BIU!"

A long, powerful laser burst from Aoyama's belt, launching them diagonally downward, straight toward the exam gate.

"AHHHHHH!!"

Their combined screams echoed through the air.

With no gravity weighing them down, the laser's force propelled them fast.

But, naturally, Thirteen noticed the attack instantly. The moment the laser fired, it created a dazzling light and a loud sound, impossible to miss.

"Not so fast!!"

Thirteen swiftly turned, extending both hands toward their destination.

In an instant, a powerful suction force engulfed the space ahead, pulling everything toward the black hole within Thirteen's suit. Dust and debris swirled violently as the force intensified.

However, rather than targeting the airborne students, Thirteen aimed directly at the exit itself.

"No matter how fast they are, they have to reach the gate eventually!"

Uraraka and Aoyama rapidly approached the threshold, their bodies carried by the momentum of the laser blast.

They were so close, barely two meters from clearing the gate.

But then—

They stopped.

Frozen mid-air, neither advancing nor falling, as if an invisible hand had seized them.

It was the clash between the laser's thrust and the black hole's suction, a pure battle of force.

Even gravity itself had momentarily surrendered to this struggle.

However, the standoff lasted less than three seconds. The battle of opposing forces reached its conclusion—Thirteen's suction overpowered the laser's momentum.

Uraraka and Aoyama, still clinging to each other, were abruptly yanked backward as their momentum shattered.

---

"AHH!!"

"Grab the bike rack!" Uraraka's sharp instincts kicked in. She spotted the metal railing lining the road and latched onto it immediately, halting her pull toward Thirteen's vortex.

"That was way too close!" she yelled, her hair whipping wildly from the wind.

"You almost had me worried there!" Thirteen called out, relieved. Uraraka and Aoyama had been this close to passing.

---

Back in the monitoring room, tension filled the air. Everyone watched in silence as Uraraka and Aoyama struggled against the pull.

Then—Aoyama said something to Uraraka.

And to everyone's shock, Uraraka let go.

Just like that, she released the railing, allowing herself to be drawn toward Thirteen.

The room collectively gasped.

Even Kaminari's mouth twitched in disbelief.

"Are you kidding me?" he muttered. "That was way too obvious. The moment Uraraka got close, Thirteen stopped his Quirk…"

But then again, if Thirteen hadn't deactivated his Quirk in time, Uraraka would have been seriously injured.

Thinking about it, Kaminari understood why. After all, this was still just an exam, it wouldn't do for anyone to get hurt for real.

"Aoyama and Uraraka's team—Pass!"
