Chapter 7: Chapter 7
"I also have a useless personality, which is just a personality that makes my body glow. My combat power is zero," Alex Carter said with a wry smile. He couldn't tell someone he didn't know that his personality was actually quite powerful.
"No, no, no, how can your personality be useless?" The man with glasses, now identified as Ethan (not mentioned in mha ), retorted after hearing Alex's words. "You should know that if your body glows, you don't have to worry about walking at night, and when you meet a bad guy, you can focus the light on one point, blinding them, and escape. The uses of this personality are far more than these. You said it was low-key."
Alex was stunned for a moment, and he suddenly seemed to have figured something out. Yes, if the power is concentrated on one point, the attack power would definitely be explosive. His personality was not just one that glowed, but had strong combat potential.
Today's work wasn't in vain. Something he hadn't figured out was pointed out by someone else, and Alex suddenly felt happy. The stinky water didn't seem as bad now.
Passers-by watched as Alex dug through the stinky ditch, covering their noses. They couldn't figure out what had fallen in there that Alex had to work so hard to retrieve.
After a while, Alex found the phone. "Found it!" he exclaimed.
"Damn, it's just a broken mobile phone, and you had to go through all this trouble to get it?" A man in his twenties shook his head and walked away in disbelief. Others also began to leave, disinterested in the situation.
Ethan was relieved. "Thank you. Go wash your hands first. It's not far from the broken house. I'll take the phone once you've cleaned it."
Back at the Broken House, Alex and Ethan washed their hands thoroughly. Alex also used soap to scrub the phone clean of the smell.
Ethan introduced himself: "I'm a university student. My field of study involves high-level computing. I'm ranked quite highly in my school."
After the task was completed, Ethan left, and the first business transaction was finished smoothly.
"You've worked hard on the first day. Digging through that stinky ditch... Dinner will be delivered soon. You can eat first. If business picks up in the coming days, I'll make sure to provide more meals," Gin said with a smile. He had a good feeling about the reopening of the Broken House. It seemed that things were on track for success.
"It's okay to work harder, I just don't want to take on any strange orders," Alex said, thinking about the future. He then looked at Gin and asked, "By the way, Gin, you can't be the only one here. You should recruit some more people to help. What happens when there are a lot of orders? I can't handle everything by myself."
Gin nodded. "That's the plan. I'm actively recruiting. We'll have more people soon. But for now, don't worry. When the shop picks up, I'll only keep three people. You'll stay for sure. And I'll raise your salary."
Alex wasn't sure if he could fully trust Gin's words, but for now, Gin was the boss, so it was his call. As long as the pay was decent, Alex could tolerate the work.
Lunch was delivered on time, and Gin took care of the meal delivery himself. Afterward, Alex looked at the dishes. They weren't the most appetizing, but they were edible. Three dishes—two vegetarian and one meat dish—along with a bit of salmon sushi. Alex sighed, thinking about how it was a decent meal for someone who didn't have much money.
After lunch, another order came in. This time, it was an elderly woman who needed help. Her dog had gone missing a week ago, and after a week of searching, she was desperate for help. She came into the Broken House and explained her situation.
Gin explained, "We can take your order, but there's only one person here for now, so it might take a while. However, if we find any clue, we'll contact you immediately."
The woman agreed to the terms, saying, "As long as you find my dog, I'll pay more."
After the old lady left, Gin looked at Alex. "This order isn't urgent, but keep an eye out. If you find anything, bring it back. If you run into trouble, give me a call. I know some people around here."
Alex nodded. "Got it. I'll keep an eye out."
The afternoon passed quickly. Only two orders came through that day, which Gin said was normal. It would get better once the shop had been open for a few more days.
For dinner, they had ramen. It was actually pretty good. Alex was curious about the variety of food the delivery boss provided—breakfast was Chinese food, lunch was sushi, and now ramen for dinner. It was interesting to see how Gin managed all of this.
At 8 o'clock, Alex finished his workday and left the Broken House on time. Gin didn't try to keep him for overtime, which Alex appreciated. Who wouldn't be happy when they didn't have to work late?
