As the students gathered in Ground Beta, All Might, full of energy and enthusiasm, overheard Kuro's proclamation about crushing his opponents. Smiling widely, All Might patted Kuro on the back with a loud thump that almost sent him stumbling forward.

"Well said, young Kurokami! I like that spirit!" All Might exclaimed, assuming Kuro was leading the class as the President. "Everyone, we'll be watching from above in the loft. Now, it's time to choose your partners through a random draw!"

The students nodded and eagerly moved to draw lots, the tension rising as they wondered who they would be paired with. The room filled with the sound of names being drawn, and soon Kuro glanced down at his paper.

"Tsuyu Asui," it read.

Kuro turned around to find his partner, his eyes landing on the frog-like girl sitting with her legs crossed. Finally, someone shorter than me, Kuro thought, feeling a bit of relief. But as he approached, Tsuyu stood up to greet him properly, adjusting her posture. To his dismay, she was slightly taller than him.1

"Kero," Tsuyu said casually, noticing his expression. "I usually slouch, but this is my normal height."

Kuro's face fell, and he immediately sulked, shoulders slumping in defeat. "Great… I thought I had this one," he muttered.

Tsuyu tilted her head curiously at his reaction but shrugged it off. "Don't worry, Kuro. I'm sure we'll work well together," she said, ending her sentence with another trademark "Kero."

Still pouting, Kuro gave a half-hearted thumbs-up, trying to recover from his height-related disappointment. "Yeah… let's do our best."

Across the room, Izuku stared at the name on his paper in confusion. Toru Hagakure? he thought, furrowing his brow. He couldn't remember seeing anyone with that name in the class so far. Is there someone by that name?

He felt a light tap on his shoulder and turned around to see... floating clothes. Izuku blinked in surprise, his eyes widening as he realized the shirt and gloves were hovering in the air. Confused, he reached out instinctively, as if to confirm what he was seeing.

Before his hand could make contact, it was suddenly smacked away by an invisible hand. "Don't just touch people like that!" came the voice of Toru Hagakure, her tone playful but slightly embarrassed.

Izuku jumped, quickly bowing deeply in apology. "I-I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to— I just— I couldn't see— I mean—"

Toru, still a bit flustered, waved her invisible hand in the air. "It's fine, it's fine! Just, you know, stop bowing so much. It's embarrassing." Though invisible, her tone was lighthearted, and Izuku could feel his face flush with embarrassment.

Straightening up, Izuku gave a nervous laugh. "Right. Sorry again! Let's do our best, Toru-san."

Toru smiled, even though he couldn't see it. "You got it, Midoriya!"

On the other side of the room, Bakugo read his lot with a scowl. Denki Kaminari. He glanced up at the boy with the spiky yellow hair, who was fidgeting nervously under Bakugo's intense gaze.

Denki forced a smile, his voice wavering slightly. "Uh, hey! I guess we're teammates! I'm Denki Kaminari—nice to meet you!" He extended his hand cautiously.

Bakugo narrowed his eyes, his response blunt and cold. "Bakugo Katsuki." He didn't bother shaking hands, turning away with his usual air of superiority. "Don't slow me down," he muttered.

Denki blinked, a bit taken aback by Bakugo's attitude, but he wasn't entirely surprised. At least he didn't blow up on me... yet, he thought, rubbing the back of his neck. "Right… no slowing down."

Meanwhile, Ochaco was grinning excitedly as she looked over at her partner, Momo Yaoyorozu. "Momo! We're partners!" she exclaimed happily.

Momo, always composed, smiled politely in return. "I'm glad we'll be working together, Ochaco. It's always a relief to work with another girl."

Ochaco nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah! I'm sure we'll make a great team. I feel like our quirks will complement each other well."

Momo agreed, relieved that her quirk wouldn't lead to any awkward situations, especially with the creation of objects requiring exposed skin. "It's much easier to work with you than a boy," she admitted. "My quirk can be... difficult to manage in certain situations."

Ochaco grinned. "No worries! We've got this!"

Tenya Iida, as formal as ever, approached his partner Kyoka Jirou with a crisp introduction. "Iida Tenya. It's an honor to be your teammate. Let's give this exercise our all!"

Kyoka, much more relaxed in her demeanor, gave him a nod and an easygoing smile. "Yeah, sure. Jirou Kyoka. Let's see how we do."

Iida, ever focused on efficiency, immediately asked, "What is the nature of your quirk? I believe knowing our strengths and weaknesses will allow us to strategize effectively."

Jirou, casually playing with the headphone jacks hanging from her earlobes, shrugged. "I can use these jacks to hear things through walls, or plug them into the ground and send soundwaves to create shockwaves. What about you?"

Iida pushed up his glasses. "My quirk is Engine. I have engines in my legs that allow me to move at incredible speeds."

Jirou smirked slightly. "Engines in your legs, huh? Sounds fast. This'll be interesting."

Iida nodded firmly. "Indeed! I look forward to seeing how our quirks will work together in this exercise."

As the students finished introducing themselves to their teammates, All Might and Aizawa observed from the loft above. The pairs were set, and the tension in the air was palpable. The students, now in their hero suits and ready for action, were eager to prove themselves in the upcoming exercise.

All Might stepped forward, his booming voice echoing across the training ground. "The teams are now in place! Heroes, villains—prepare yourselves! This is a crucial step in your hero training. Show me your best!"

The students cheered in excitement, their energy rising as they prepared for the challenge ahead. Some, like Bakugo, were brimming with confidence, while others, like Izuku, were nervous but determined.

Kuro, standing beside Tsuyu, gave her a thumbs-up. "Ready, partner? Let's crush it."

Tsuyu nodded calmly, her expression focused. "Kero. I'm ready."

The first match was about to begin.

...

The rest of the class had gathered in the camera room, their eyes glued to the monitors displaying multiple angles of the battleground. Excitement buzzed in the air, but for some, it was more about disappointment than anticipation.

"Seriously? Kurokami and Tsuyu vs. Shoji and Todoroki first?" Bakugo growled, arms crossed, his irritation clear. "This should've been the last match. I wanted to crush that stupid 'god complex' myself."

Kuro, standing nearby with his arms folded, scoffed at Bakugo's complaint. "I feel the same way, Bakugo. But let's just see how it goes. You'll get your chance." His confident smirk only deepened Bakugo's annoyance.

Iida, trying to relax as usual, adjusted his glasses. "Bakugo, Kuro, please. This is a practice match, not some life-or-death duel. The point is to hone your skills, not—"

Before he could finish, Bakugo cut him off. "Shut up, glasses. No one asked for your lecture."

The comment struck a nerve with Iida, who visibly stiffened. Those glasses weren't just any accessory—they were a gift from his older brother, Tensei. He clenched his fists but said nothing, forcing himself to stay composed. It's not worth it.

As the tension hung in the air, All Might clapped his hands to get everyone's attention. "Alright, class! For this match, Kurokami and Tsuyu will be playing the role of villains, while Todoroki and Shoji will be the heroes!"

Inside the building, Kuro and Tsuyu had a few minutes to strategize and position themselves. The task was simple: hide the bomb and protect it from the heroes.

Kuro's eyes sparkled with excitement as he surveyed their surroundings. "Let's put the bomb on the top floor. It'll make for a cooler final showdown." His voice carried a playful but determined tone, clearly imagining himself as a final boss in a video game.

Tsuyu blinked, then gave a small smile. "You've got a final boss mindset, huh? Kero. I get it. I used to play games like that with my siblings."

Kuro turned to her, pleasantly surprised. "Wait, really? You get it? That's awesome!"

Tsuyu nodded. "Yeah. My little brothers and sisters love those kinds of games. I'm used to thinking about strategies like this."

As Tsuyu talked, Kuro found himself momentarily distracted, his thoughts drifting to his own family. A sharp, familiar pang of discomfort tightened in his chest, a feeling he quickly tried to suppress. Best not to think about that right now, he reminded himself. Focus on the match.

He shook off the feeling, turning back to the task at hand. "Alright, let's get moving."

The two of them headed up to the top floor, placing the bomb in a well-hidden corner. Tsuyu used her agility to quickly assess the best vantage points, while Kuro kept his energy light, not wanting to give away their position too soon.

Down at the entrance of the building, Shoto Todoroki and Mezo Shoji were preparing their approach. Both quiet and focused, they weren't the type to chat unnecessarily, but they understood the importance of strategy.

Shoji, with his quirk "Dupli-Arms," had already extended his extra limbs, using them to gather sensory information from different parts of the building. His multiple arms allowed him to hear, see, and feel through his duplicated organs, giving him an edge in stealth.

"I'll focus on locating them and gathering intel," Shoji said calmly, his extra arms twitching as they picked up sounds and vibrations. "You take the lead in combat."

Todoroki nodded, his expression as icy as ever. "That's fine. I'll handle the offense."

He paused for a moment, glancing at Shoji. "But be prepared—Kuro's quirk is versatile. He can amplify his physical abilities with his 'Ki,' and he's not afraid to use it aggressively. Asui's got mobility and stealth on her side with her frog quirk, so we'll have to be careful about her ambush potential."

Shoji nodded. "Understood. I'll move quietly and keep track of their positions. Let's not give them any opportunities to surprise us."

With their plan set, the two heroes entered the building, Todoroki's eyes already scanning for any signs of their opponents.

Back in the camera room, the rest of Class 1-A watched as the teams made their moves. The monitors displayed various angles of the building's interior, showing both teams as they prepared for their clash.

"I wonder how Tsuyu and Kuro will handle it," Ochaco said, leaning forward in her seat. "Kuro's pretty strong, but Shoji's stealth might make it hard for them to keep track of everything."

Izuku, who was watching intently, nodded in agreement. "Yeah... and Todoroki's got that ice and fire quirk. It's hard to beat raw power like that."

Momo, sitting next to Jirou, added thoughtfully, "It'll be interesting to see how Kuro handles being on the defensive. His quirk is more suited for offense, but Tsuyu's a natural at evading and hiding. They might balance each other out."

Bakugo, still sulking about not being in the match, scoffed. "Tch. It's not about balance. If Kuro's gonna win, he needs to overwhelm them. He better not hold back."

Iida, having calmed down somewhat, chimed in. "But this isn't just about raw power, Bakugo. It's about teamwork and strategy. That's the point of these exercises."

Bakugo rolled his eyes. "Whatever, glasses."1
