Chapter 8: A Ray of Sunshine
How did I become a murderer in such little time? Have I always wanted to kill? When did this change happen? Is there any chance, I can rewind time? Those were the questions I asked myself as sat under the oak tree at the park my mom took me to. And now, I have to start all over again, meet new people, and soon enough I'll probably forget all these things ever happened. And there I was, thinking about how awful my life had gotten, then this beautiful girl walks up to me, her smile, so loud and her energy was like that of someone who had just been injected with an extra dose of adrenaline. She came and sat close to me and said, "Hi, my name is Stacy, her eyes glistened in the sun. She continued "you look sad, the sun is smiling brightly at you, you should smile back, you'll feel better, just as she finished, she flipped her brunette hair. I was utterly speechless because, who walks up to a stranger and says that. I smiled back to the sun as she instructed and somehow it relieved me a bit. She continued "I've never seen you before, first time here? "Yes" I shyly responded. "We should be friends, i could teach you a whole lot about this place", I began fidgeting, because I didn't know if I wanted a friend or not, there's so much going on, and I'm still going through it, and just as my brain was still calculating on deciding my answer, Stacy cut me off brusquely and then hugs me, she goes on to say "You don't have to give me an answer now".
My mind, my soul, my body, couldn't take all the sweetness she was handing over. My response to the hug was pushing her away we stared at each other for a while and then she told me she had to leave and that she would definitely come over. Stacy left, without asking where my house was at or how to find it, the moment felt surreal, I felt like an angel just passed by to heal me, and that's when I knew, brighter days were certainly coming.
We returned back home, and my grandma made us some beer braised pot roast with mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner, it tasted like heaven. I had my shower and then overheard my mom telling my grandma about the school I'd be admitted into soon, I was almost excited, but then I remembered how much hate I got from the last one I attended, it made me sad. But oh well, it's a new environment and possibly nobody knows me, I thought to myself. Just like how quickly water drops turns into an ocean, the week went by and I got comfortable in my grandma's home, I got dressed up and my mom took me to my new school. We arrived at my new school, AURORA ACADEMY, it was the most beautiful place I had ever seen, there were pretty gardens, tons of cute classrooms and then a swimming pool, although I had seen those before, it felt like a new sight. The day was already bright, but it got brighter as I saw Stacy walk out of one of the classrooms, I was seated in the principal's office at the top floor, he left the door that led to his balcony open, I had left the seat to come take some fresh air by the balcony while he talked to my mom and there I saw the angel, all the excitement in my body grew, but my face had no expression, so I quietly watched her from the top, laughing and enjoying herself and then the words "Yes, I'll be your friend" came out of my mouth. I smiled so brightly as I ran back into the principal's office, looked him straight in the eyes and said Loudly, "I'm gonna go here, put my name down, I like this place, put my name down". He began to clap and he closed the big book that was in his hands and then my mom took me back home, I didn't get the chance to see stacy again, but I knew I was gonna be seeing her for the rest of the year, In SCHOOL!
My mom told my grandma about everything that happened and although I was eavesdropping, I heard my mom tell grandma, "I have never seen Sonia this excited and happy since the events, it's like the therapy paid off" and there I just knew my mom was yearning for me to be normal as I usually was. I returned back to my room, snuggled up in bed and I had a terrifying dream, in that dream, I was being chased by a cat, I ran and ran but it didn't seem like the pathway would end. After running for a while, I stopped and couldn't find the cat, I waited to catch my breath, but suddenly it jumped out of nowhere and pushed me into this deep well, and inside this well, I met a boy, who asked if I recognized him, I was utterly confused. I asked him "how long have you been here? His response, " For a while". I was panicking and wanted to get out of there, but he told me "Very soon, the light will give way to the darkness, but the key to your answers lies within you", and then he disappeared. I woke up from that dream and immediately grabbed a book to write those confusing words down, what light? What darkness? What key? What was he talking about? I guess it's a rhetoric I would never find an answer to.
The principal gave us a week to get the necessary things needed for me to start at aurora academy. But I wanted to see stacy so badly, so I went to the park we had met earlier, I sat under the oak tree hoping to meet her, I waited for a while and then decided to look around, but I couldn't find her. Just before I had the chance to feel bad, I heard a loud scream, I immediately followed it, hoping it would be stacy's, and lo and behold, it was, but she was being bullied by some boys, how could they do that to my Ray of Sunshine?
I stood behind the flowers, while they interrogated her, the first boy to speak said
" You will date our friend and there's nothing you can do about it". At that I was shocked, they were forcing her to do that ? Now that's just silly. Then the FRIEND in question told stacy to " Come over where he was standing and kiss him". Stacy was being held by two other guys and was trying so hard to escape from their grip, after she was dragged to where he was standing, she refused to kiss him and then he slapped her. I immediately picked a stone and threw it at him, I threw stones to all of them and came out from where I was hiding. They tried to fight back, and then I told Stacy to run and she did, and I fought with four boys, amateur boys! The fight ended with them sustaining different bruises, they got tired and ran off. Fortunately for me, Stacy didn't run, but she came out from her hiding spot and gave me a big hug and then I whispered in her ears in my tired state, "Yes, I'll be your friend" and then I dropped on the floor unconscious.
