My Gorgeous Landlady

Chapter 3: Chapter 3 I Didn't Mean To!

When the girl saw a man sitting in the room, those lively eyes paused for a moment, and then she politely smiled at Liu Chen.

"So this is the new tenant Qin Lu mentioned? No need to worry with his slender appearance."

The girl thought to herself.

Seeing this, Liu Chen also politely smiled and said, "Hello, I'm new here, my name is Liu Chen."

As he said this, Liu Chen stretched out his hand.

"Hello, my name is Lin Xueting."

Lin Xueting responded with a gentle smile, shaking hands with Liu Chen, which served as a greeting.

"You go eat, I'll go check on Sister Qin."

Lin Xueting said somewhat helplessly. Hearing Qin Lu's crying, she knew that Zhang Xiaotian and his despicable crew had been here.

"Yeah, you go ahead, and it's best to comfort her, she is crying in her room right now."

Liu Chen quickly said, thinking that at times like this, Qin Lu should have someone to comfort her; otherwise, sulking alone in her room would make her feel even worse.

Hearing this, Lin Xueting nodded, agreed, and stepped into Qin Lu's room.

Liu Chen then returned to his seat to continue eating. He didn't pay much attention to the conversation between Qin Lu and Lin Xueting; after all, it had nothing to do with him.

After finishing his meal, Liu Chen washed his dishes and then returned to his room.

He took off his clothes and lay down on the bed, since he still had to go out and look for a job tomorrow.

The next morning at seven o'clock, Liu Chen woke up on time from his sleep, opened his eyes to look at the room filled with sunlight, and couldn't help but smile. This carefree life without having to worry about sudden emergencies was really nice.

Thinking this, Liu Chen got dressed, gathered a basin and toiletries by his bed, exited his room, and headed straight for the bathroom. He opened the door and walked straight in.

He hadn't given it much thought; it was just a quick wash. But he didn't expect that someone was already there, and that woman, just finishing fastening her bra, was none other than Qin Lu.

"Sorry, sorry, I didn't mean to."

After quickly glancing twice, Liu Chen said very awkwardly, and then exited the bathroom swiftly.

Seeing Liu Chen promptly leave, Qin Lu's face turned slightly red, and she too felt a sense of relief. She wasn't heartless. It was just that she'd been too impulsive yesterday, and her mind had been clouded, which is why she had done something so impolite.

After getting dressed, Qin Lu exited the bathroom, her eyes quietly observing Liu Chen, her expression ice-cold, leaving one to wonder what was on her mind.

Confronted with Qin Lu's icy demeanor, Liu Chen couldn't help but say, "I'm sorry, I really didn't mean to."

"Shameless."

Qin Lu said coldly, then turned and left. After taking a few steps, she said over her shoulder without turning back, "Yesterday, thank you for that."

She then quickly walked to her own room.

Hearing this, Liu Chen was stunned for a moment, but then he gave a slight smile: "So Qin Lu isn't a woman who knows nothing of the ways of the world."

With that thought, Liu Chen entered the bathroom and, after a brief wash-up, he went to the kitchen, prepared something simple to eat, and then left the room to go job hunting.

"What kind of job should I look for?"

Liu Chen walked aimlessly on the streets of Donghai City, after all, he had just arrived here and wasn't familiar with anything, which made job searching a bit difficult.

Perhaps luck was on his side as a large security company appeared before him. In front of the Yongde Security Company was a posted paper, announcing in bold letters that they were hiring a security guard.

Liu Chen's eyes lit up, and he hurried over. The notice read: "Yongde Security Company is hiring a door guard. Monthly salary 4500, Sundays off, lunch provided by the company. Interested parties please apply via contact."

The bottom included a row of mobile numbers.

"Very nice offering, I'll choose this one."

Liu Chen thought to himself, then lifted his head to glance at the four-story building of the security company and walked inside with firm steps.

Entering, Liu Chen went straight to the reception desk, where a woman was standing. She appeared to be the service staff here.

"Hello, are you hiring security personnel here?"

Liu Chen asked politely.

"Yes, we are. May I know if you are interested in applying? What is your surname?"

The female receptionist asked eagerly, her pretty face adorned with a professional smile.

"Yes, I'd like to apply. Just call me Liu Chen. What should I do?"

Liu Chen inquired again.

"Please wait a moment, Mr. Liu. I'll contact the person in charge,"

said the receptionist warmly, then picked up the phone at the service desk.

While the receptionist was making the call, two tall men chatting and laughing came in and went to the front of the service desk. They gave Liu Chen a somewhat surprised look before turning their attention to the receptionist.

"Who's Cai Yin calling?"

One of the men asked with a smile. As employees of the security company, they were naturally quite familiar with her.

"Hei Gui, Kuang Lei, don't you have a task? How come you're back so soon?"

The receptionist named Cai Yin asked with some surprise, while putting the receiver to her ear, waiting for the other party to answer.

"The boss said the task was canceled, so we came back. Who is this?" Hei Gui said with a smile, gesturing toward Liu Chen.

"This gentleman is here for a job interview. I was trying to get ahold of Gang Shi to test him, but that guy isn't picking up his phone. He must be asleep again,"

Cai Yin put the phone down, sounding somewhat helpless.

"An interview? Cai Yin, since when does Yongde hire just anybody? This guy looks so frail; are you sure he's up for it?"

Hei Gui asked doubtfully. He wasn't trying to discourage Liu Chen; he just had a habit of speaking his mind.

"Hei Gui, aren't you slipping into your old ways again? Didn't the boss say never to underestimate anyone? Besides, this gentleman is only applying to be a door security guard; it's got nothing to do with you guys,"

Cai Yin glared at Hei Gui, expressing her disapproval.

"Oh, is that so? Well, let us conduct the test then. A door security guard doesn't need much of a test – a simple exchange of moves should suffice,"

Hei Gui said cheerfully, his gaze landing on Liu Chen but without much significance.

"Stop kidding around. You're both A-level security guards. After a few more tasks, you might be promoted to S-level. Are you sure it's appropriate for you to test a door security guard?"

Cai Yin retorted disdainfully, rolling her beautiful eyes at Hei Gui.

"Don't worry, I know how to hold back,"

Hei Gui, finding himself bored without a task, said with a laugh.

"Alright then, but be gentle,"

Cai Yin hesitated before acquiescing to Hei Gui's request.

"Mr. Liu, just to let you know, our company policy requires testing every applicant. For the position you're applying for, a D-level security guard would normally conduct your assessment.

But as you can see, the guy in charge of the testing seems to be asleep now. An A-level security guard will test you instead. He'll only be able to use D-level strength against you; if you can last three seconds, you'll pass. Is that okay with you?"

Cai Yin smiled at Liu Chen as she spoke, her tone indicating she was asking for his consent.

Liu Chen had been standing there all along, overhearing the conversation between Cai Yin and Hei Gui. Who tested him didn't matter, so Liu Chen replied courteously, "That's fine. Where do we carry out the test?"
